I too was stuck in traffic for hours the first year getting to this site. The second year I took the back roads from the north. I found the drive quite scenic and pleasant with some good hills and views and only a few critical turns that are not to be missed. A good atlas with county roads on it is all you need, or a GPS. A TX state road map or a google Maps print out will not have enough detail unless you zoom in close and print multiple pages. Be forewarned that country roads don't always have signs on them. Local teenagers have rooms with well signed 10 way junctions though. I wouldn't reccomend this route for those towing a trailer or camper.

We were stuck in traffic there for hours a few years back. Though looking at the map, it seems very complicated to take any country back roads to get there. Anyone know the way?
