Margaret (Marglyph) Berrier Speaking on the pictograph image often called “Tlaloc” at Dona Ana Archeological Society Meeting
7:00 pm, Tuesday, 14 April 2009 Location: Good Samaritan Auditorium, 3011 Buena Vida Circle, Las Cruces, New Mexico Title of Margaret’s Talk: Who Am I? What’s My Name? Description: Goggle-eyed anthropomorphic figures are found in the southern New Mexico, west Texas and northern Chihuahua. Researchers have previously equated these figures with the Aztec rain god Tlaloc. In Mesoamerican Tlaloc's attributes include the goggle-eyes, a mouth with teeth or fangs, a heron headdress and kilt. A preliminary analysis of the goggle-eyed motifs in the Mogollon and surrounding areas will give detailed information about the types and range of this motif and possible relationship to Mesoamerican Rain Deities. for more info contact: Marilyn Guida Curator of Education El Paso Museum of Archaeology 915-755-4332 4301 Transmountain Road El Paso TX 79924 www.elpasotexas.gov/arch_museum/ ____________________________________________________________ Click here for financial aid options.
