Walmart is now carrying a variety of LED bulbs for the home light socket. They range in price from $ 5 to $ 30 each.
These new LED's use about 3 to 7 watts of power compared to a 40 watt incandescent or 14 watt CFL. I have LED lights in various fixtures around the house. I feel most people are going to be disappointed in these early LED's. Once the lamp fixtures are better designed to accomodate the LED and the LED is designed to spread the light out more evenly, and after they are less expensive, then I would wager that they will become popular or even mainstream. It will be at least 6 months before I can report on these new Walmart light bulbs. So I invite someone else to try one and tell us about it.
