Once an editor, always an editor. ________________________________ From: [email protected] To: [email protected] CC: [email protected] List-Post: [email protected] Date: Thu, 19 Jun 2008 16:11:45 -0500 Subject: [ot_caving] RE: Oil prices rise, demand declines - DEFINATELY POLITICAL Roger, I just read this interesting lead article. It confirms what I already know to be true. That Harry Reed and Nancy Polosi are both nuts, don't live in the real world and continually work against proposals that are in the public interests. His idea of "gifts" to the oil companies" is way off. Does he think that exploration and production are cheap? Granted, our government is the one making the gifts on various land and mineral leases at give-away prices to lessees but congress could fix this problem. Individuals don't "gift" their mineral rights to production companies and neither should our federal government. The sad part is that a large number of our elected representatives are interested only in their own best interest and not that of their constituents and they vote accordingly. Even sadder is that the majority of the voting public is too lazy to become informed on the issues or their representatives position on the issues and continue to vote them into office to their own detriment. In most cases the general rule is that if Republicans support an issue, the Democrats are against it and nothing gets done. The founding fathers would not believe the current political (liberal) scene were they able to see it today. An unfortunate sign of the times is to let the federal government take care of all of our problems regardless of the cost, including the loss of our independence and freedoms. Our supreme court is also becoming stupid and is siding with governmental bodies and radical extremists against United States citizens. Hey, I like it up here on this soap box as it makes me taller. Bush's proposal is discussed. I don't think that McCain has mentioned ANWAR, just the offshore states. Roger Roger G.
