Geary,

Even though I didn't know Paul Stevens, I'd like to extend my personal condolences to his family if someone could forward this message to Steve Stokowski. I lost my mom, Velva Power, known to cavers in the Austin are as "Ma" Power, to ALS in 1989. I know what a hard thing it must have been for his family. My mother was a real fighter and she continued to live by herself with help from my sister Jodie (they were in San Antonio, I was in Portland, OR, at the time). She eventually went into adult foster care where she died from heart failure within a month. I'll always miss her as I know Paul's family will miss him.

Louise Power

This was sent out today regarding Paul Stevens.

Paul and Lee taught me how to survey and took me on my first survey trip into Organ Cave.  It has been a difficult time for both Paul and Lee over the last 5 years.  ALS is a horrible diease and robs from both the patient and their loved ones.  I won't be at the NSS Convention this year but if you can make it, please toast a beer for me in honor of Paul and Lee.

Thanks,

Geary Schindel
