I test drove the 2006 hybrid Mercury Mariner yesterday. This is now my
favorite hybrid. Seems to me, it is a stronger SUV than the Toyota
Highlander.
It has a lot more luxury than the Ford Escape, but the base price is over $
31,000.
I only drove it a few miles, so I don't know what kind of mpg it really got.
I am guessing
around 24 mpg.
I have also driven the hybrid Accord several times. This is a great car.
But on a good day,
the best mileage is only 26 mpg; and I seem to see only 21 mpg the other times.
My hybrid Honda is still in the shop. However, the mechanic believes it is
something
minor. The parts he has replaced so far required special order and
where expensive. However, they are part of the cooling system and not
the hybrid part of the car. He says I should be back on the road after
Christmas.
In the news today, there was an article about some new tax credits that take
effect
next week, if you buy a hybrid car. According to the article, these tax
credits
are much better than the previous ones.
