I remember when I first moved to Austin back in 1982.... I got a job as a waitress at the Lock Stock and Barrel Restaurant on Anderson Lane. The restaurant had a bar side where Steve Fromoltz, the Geezenslaws or Allen Damron would play. I recall that Allen always had an entourage (young groupies). He'd usually invite others on stage to play a song or two. After the prime rib side of the restaurant would close, we'd all stay and watch the show, singing along. We got to know each of the acts quite well.
The Geezenslaws without fail would always tell the same jokes every time they played.... Did you hear about the aggies girlfriend... she said "kiss me where its warm and damp" so he took her to Beaumont! I hadn't ever been to Beaumont at that time.... now I know better.
