I found the following article today while surfing the web and appears
to be taken from a recent CRF newsletter.

Explorers have just released information on the discovery and exploration of
a new entrance to Mammoth Cave......
The entrance was discovered in September 2003, and a route to known
sections of the cave was first discovered in March. The actual
connection was made on March 18, 2005
by veteran cavers Alan Canon, John Feil, Dick Market, and James Wells.
The latest mapping adds four kilometers to the cave's total length.
Alan Glennon describes the find as "exciting". "Such significant
discoveries show
that we've still got a lot to learn about places right under our feet", he
said.
Exploration of this cave is conducted by the CRF and Central Kentucky Karst
Coalition.
Both groups' membership is open to experienced cave surveyors....

I don't know if Alan Glennon participated or just spoke to the author of the
article. I knew
Alan when he was just an Aggie Caver. Alan's older brother Ashley, was
instrumental in getting the ASS going
again in 1984 after it had faded away. Many of you know his dad from
the old DFW grotto
days. Alan ram-rodded the ASS in the early 90's and was the first person
to show me the
capabilites of e-mail. So for those of you who like my cavetex post,
you can blame Alan. He
started the ASS newsletter by e-mail in about 1992, I think. I think
the only time I ever went
caving with him was when he was a little kid and his Dad was showing us a
cave near Boerne, called
Alzafars' Cave or something like that. ( I just remember a small wet
crawling passage. )
