Dear All --

I have re-read the messages I received and thought about them. I appreciate your feeling that the content of my message was inapprporiate. I was incautious and hasty and I should have thought more deeply about the variety of people who use Cavetex, before I sent it. I have been reminded how sensitive some people are on this issue, and about the very strong and valid reasons they have for feeling that way.

Words of remorse are easy to write, but they may not mean much. However, obviously I touched a hot wire and am now burned. I have removed myself from the Cavetex listserv for a period of time to prevent further acrimony. I hope that I will learn whatever valid lesson can be learned from this experience, and that others will, at the end of the day, shrug and recall some time that a similar thing happened to them.

All the best --

Ed
