This is why the Stenlight designers didn't put 5 watt bulbs in the S7.

Also, I think the current rational is that the 3 watt LED is more practical 
than
having a big array of small LED's.

Bill also wrote that he had good luck with his Wheatlamp.       I loved
my Wheatlamp too, but I don't think it could ever compare to the current
top-of-the-line LED headlamps.

Also, I can't see any reason to cave with carbide now, unless your old lamp 
is still
working great and you still have a lot of carbide laying around.

Also, with all the tiny LED flashlights on the market, it doesn't seem to 
make
any sense to carry chemical light sticks in your cave pack.    I bought a 
LED
light stick last year and have used it as a tent light and for use in the 
car.   It
has never failed and the batteries are still going strong.
