1. Don't forget to have you change overs down cold. Just read a number of past 
incident 
and accident reports where folks with vertical gear were not able to help 
because they 
couldn't do a change over.

2. Make sure you have the appropriate vertical gear i.e. the frog system and 
double stop I 
use for shorter WV and NE multi pitch drops, may not be appropriate for a 
deeper pit. In 
fact I often rig my Anthron as a single stop, or else I have to pump the handle 
all the 
way down the drop on a really stiff rope. Same for a micro rack vs a full rack.

3. 55 gal trash bags and hand warmer heat packs make a great heat tent and are 
less likely 
to go up in flame than if you use an open flame. You can even use the trash bag 
as a vapor 
barrier by, again cutting arm, neck, holes and placing the bag as the first 
layer on your 
skin.
