In summary, it is a good idea to install bug-zappers around the patio and
porch and in southeast Texas install them in the house.
When Doc dished the dirt on Zika the most interesting revelation was that
those who have previously had dengue may or may not be preferentially
selected for special complications. At 68 I am too old to get pregnant, but I
have had dengue several times including the hemorrhagic variety that almost
killed me in Thailand a few years back. I would wager that almost all Tex Mex
cavers have been exposed to one or more forms of dengue. The best
prophylactic method is to keep your pants on. Works for both pregnancy and
Zika.

Biblical plagues notwithstanding, bug zappers are the work of the Devil.
Mosquitos are not affected but countless beneficial insects get destroyed.
Each time a harmless moth or beetle gets zapped the Devil takes notice and
marks it in his ledger so that during your eternal "rest" in Xibalba you will
zapped an equivalent number of times, perhaps about 10,000 times per
night. There you will keep good company with those who fail to sign their
emails.

Republicans don't want to waste money on basic research into Zika and
other causes of "brain fever" because by allowing such diseases to rage
unabated they are breeding a new and swelling generation of Trump supporters
who
will make Amerika great again. It is smart people who have caused all the
world's problems and enough is enough! We don't need no edjumacation!

And besides, microcephaly isn't so bad. Many pinheads are happy. Just
consider Zippy who famously asked,"Are we having fun yet?", a phrase that I
have
 often found useful.

Since it is mandatory to speak of caves, and I did at least peer into a few
on my recent trip to Mexico, I would be happy to separately send copies of
my lavishly illustrated two part report entitled "A Trip to the Dentist"
to anyone who is interested. Therein you will learn of many things, some of
which will be peripherally related to caving. If you want to be put on the
story list let me know.
