5 years ago, I was telling everybody about how great the new Google Plus was for social media. At that time, many respectable cavers refused to use Facebook, but they used Gmail. I even created a Google Plus page for the NSS and the NSS took over the page.
But there now is a huge problem that I do not think anyone could have predicted. It starts with Google controlling YouTube. If you comment on YouTube about a video that you watched, you will most likely receive messages that are death threats or just disturbing from the anarchist and trolls and mostly from people with fake accounts. It has become an epidemic plague on YouTube. I would not be surprised if some of these comment responders are violent felons or are still behind bars as some countries let inmates have computers with 4G access. I had to change my Google profile, that it got so bad. Do not ever make a comment on controversial video. Especially BLM related stuff. It is hard to ignore their violent insults as it is so intrusive and infuriating. For example, my personal video I made of a caver lunch at TSA Spring Convention got hit with a death threat. And if that wacko is serious, there is enough info there in the video commentary that could lead them to find a caver in the video. David Locklear [email protected]
