I have been trying to follow the news of the lava flow in Hawaii. Most of the news is the same day after day, At the rate things are going, the river of lava will move down the beach in a southerly direction and destroy Ahalanui County Park
https://aws.hawaii-guide.com/images/made/Ahalanui-Park24_1600_750_85_s_c1_c_c_0_0.jpg My guess is that could happen in about a 3 months plus or minus a month. I did find an interesting geology video about lava and it includes a quick discussion on lava caves and even lava stalactites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ykkyTgLocA' You will learn more about lava in that video than you would learn in a freshman college geology class. ( I took Geology 101 at A&M, and my TA was a well known old-timer caver, whose name I will leave out as not to embarrass him. ) But he does play the banjo better than most cavers. There are only a handful of decent videos on YouTube about lava tubes. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s88DBD4w8_4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvuJaeMroNk In summary, there is still an opportunity for the next generation to do some sort of work related to lava caves.
