I think if you go back to 2013 on CaveTex, when I was ranting erratically about digging, that Mark Minton suggested the shingle tool, so I went and bought one, and then I took it to a welding shop and and had them, re-engineer it. It was great for busting up hard breccia in an open pit where you could swing it like an axe, but Gil tried it and said it sucked, so I stopped using it. The handle was too heavy, I think, and the the grip was not right for the purpose. It needed a grip like on a modern hammer.
While I have your attention, I a very excited to report that I now have a real office in an real building. I just moved in today. 9219 Katy Fwy. Houston, TX 77024 ( Hedwig Village ). This will be more of a lounge than an office. I currently have a small bed, and a Linux computer ( with SparkyLinux 4 Openbox ), and wi-fi using my MetroPCS smartphone, a change of clothes to last a week, about half my caving gear ( LOL ! ), and snacks and cold beverages in a small ice-chest. I will hopefully have AT&T ethernet and a fax # by Wednesday night, and will eventually have a refrigerator and a small bookshelf full of interesting books about caving, hiking, mountain-climbing, and more. I am in the office typing this as I speak, but about to rush to a delivery across the county. To be continued. David Locklear [email protected]
