Someone who is actually participating here in NSS activities would be the
only source of real information.

I had several reasons for coming here. One of those reasons was just to
relax, or to escape the stress back home.

The only thing I did yesterday besides relax was to attend The Howdy
Party. I saw several cavers there by at the party: Sleazeweasel, Mr. &
Mrs. DirtDoc ( sporting some impressive Cuban speleology t-shirts ), Roy
Jameson, Wesley Schumaker ?, Rachel Saker,
Mr & Mrs Preston Forsythe. And, lots of people whose names I should
remember, especially the girl that left me the glass slipper.

Disclaimer:. I did about two hours worth of work on paperwork in my motel
room and searched for a ride home. I need to do about two more hours of
work today - all stuff that I wish I could have done before leaving town.

I like the pool at my nasty motel. It is the nostalgic kind that has a
deep end.

I nearly face-planted stepping out of my motel room door almost twisting my
ankle. That door design would be an easy million-dollar lawsuit win in
Texas.
I would have been hurt had I been physically unstable and fallen.

I have a rideshare offer on Craigslist tonight from Cookeville to Little
Rock. He sounds like I might can get him to detour to Texarkana. I paid
for a room here again tonight, since his offer had so many uncertainties.

Had I planned any of this, there was allegedly a flight deal on Expedia
today for $ 269, plus tax. I would have done that, had I been able to find
it in time. Flight leaves at 4:55 tomoreow if anybody can find that deal.

I walked from The Howdy Party back to my motel room around 1:30 a.m. in my
silly dress-shoes. That was slightly unpleasant, but the weather was
nice, and I needed the exercise. Another mile, would have killed me though.

In my travels to other places, the water quality seems annoying. I
imagine the people here would say the same thing about Houston water ? I
don't feel that clean turpentine wash. Cookeville water seems to have more
chlorine or flourine.

My customers are already calling me, so I need to get back.

I have had a really nice apartment in far west Houston since August 17th.,
although I never fully got moved in. I wasted over 50 man-hours futily
searching for a roommate. The awful commute and the nightmare parking
problem and the lack of a pool and just boring neighborhood and the
escalating crime ( due mostly to Katrina refugees ) finally drove me
nuttier than before. I am putting my stuff back in my rental storage unit
this weekend. It's going to be an inefficient and costly move and
certainly a setback. But in theory, I could sleep at my new fancy office
until the management finds out and tells me to stop doing that. My
tentative long-term plan is to get a smaller more expensive apartment near
where the Boy Scout Headquarters is located in northwest Houston ( Loop 610
North at Ella Rd. )

This fancy place in the link below is still under construction

That place is very contrary to my personality, but crime in Houston has
become out of control. Ninety percent of the violent crimes no longer make
the news in Houston.

My only remaining NSS activity here that I hope I can fit in my schedule is
to walk briefly thru the Fine Arts Salon and tell anybody that I see, "safe
travels and vaya con dinero."

Please pass the word here, that I have Room 109 at America"s Worst Value
Inn for Tuesday night, and may be vacant by 11 p.m.
