*TAMILNADU AND TAMIL EALAM* * * * Col (Retd) TN Raman* * * *After the Historic & Record Breaking Fast of 6 hours, interspersed with frequent administration of Energy Pills every hour, Karunanidhi, the CM of Tamilnadu, proclaimed to the full glare of TV Channels, that he was breaking the fast because the Srilankan (SL) Government had accepted the offer of Cease Fire. By the evening the SL Government (Govt) rebuked the claim stating that it was the biggest joke. When the LTTE & Prabhakaran were on their knees, how could they demand Cease Fire? However, that statement did not deter the DMK Supremo. He claimed that what the entire International Community, including the UNO, could not achieve in the past 30 years, he could achieve in just a matter of hours.* * * *The Madam, Jayalalitha, the supremo of AIADMK (ADMK), was not to be left in the lurch. She proclaimed that if she wins the Election & able to assist in forming the Govt in the Centre, she would carve out a Tamil Elam , by sending the Indian Army for that purpose to SL. Did she expect to take the wind out of the DMK sails? No. The DMK’s wily octogenarian was up to his old tricks. Today, he pronounced that he would do the same. So the battle of the ballots, in Tamilnadu, they think would be determined by which ever Coalition that would promise the invasion of SL. So, Thambis, be prepared to vote for War & not the Peace.* * * *What are the reactions of our National Parties? The communists are stead fast in their view that the problem must be solved by the SL Govt, by devolution of power package, a la Rajiv Gandhi- Jayavardhane Accord of 1987. The Congress initially distanced itself with Karunanidhi’s statement. But Rahul Gandhi has sent feelers to Jayalalitha on post poll tie up to the chagrin of Karunanidhi, who is its present coalition partner. Intriguing is the silence by the BJP, which is also trying for an alliance with ADMK, for the present polls or the post poll eventuality.* * * *So, barring the Communists, all other National Parties are to support the Dravidian Parties agenda of Separate Tamil Elam , if they form any coalition with them, in the post pole scenario. As on date such arrangement may become inevitable, to form a Govt in the Center by either by the Congress or the BJP.* * * *Therefore, is it safe to assume that the people of Tamilnadu are going to vote for Separate Elam if they vote for either the DMK or the ADMK alliance? All the National Parties, as on date figure in their respective alliances, barring the BJP. But the Post Poll scenario will be entirely different. Because, every seat will be precious in the horse trading, that will follow the poll results.* * * *What about the common man of Tamilnadu. He has been brought up on the promises of freebies, for the past 40 years, alternatively by both the Dravidian Parties. He will continue to get his rice for one rupee a kilo, though it is not fit for human consumption. But at least he will be able to feed his chickens & the cattle on that. He will continue to get the colour TV. Even if he has a better TV, the Govt issued ones are salable for Rs 3000/- All his loans, whether agricultural or from the Cooperative Societies would be written off, making him eligible for a fresh loan, which he has no intention of paying back, since the next election promise will guarantee his escaping the burden of repaying the same.* * * *The most pitiable condition in our fractured democracy is that of the Indian Armed Forces. Last time they were sent to SL on the invitation of the SL Govt. They were rebuked by the same Dravidian Parties, who were the first to force Rajiv Gandhi to intervene to save the LTTE. Now, they are the same parties who are clamoring to save the LTTE, from the onslaught of the SL Forces. They will be the same parties in the future also, who will be demanding the blood of the Indian armed Forces, if they resist such monstrous demand of Tamil Elam , by waging a war with SL. * * * *I always envy the Armies of other countries in the World. At least they have the people & culture to give due respect to them. At least they do not denigrate their forces, as is wont in our country.* * * *My dear citizens of Tamilnadu forget your own miserable existence. VOTE FOR TAMIL ELAM . It will solve all problems for the Elam Tamils. After all you have been accustomed to living in miserable conditions. But our poor brethrens, across the Polk Straits & the Gulf of Mannar were used to better standard of living.* * * *Veteran Raman *
