Scotland to Celebrate Indian Festival of Dusherra

EDINBURG, September 12, 2009: The Scottish Indian Arts Forum will celebrate
the famous Indian Festival of Dusherra on Sunday, October 4, at Calton Hill,
Edinburgh.

The Ram Lila Parade will consist of horse-drawn chariots with Rama, Lakshman
and Hanuman on one and Ravana on the other. There will also be colorful
floats of Sita in Ashok, Vatika, Hanuman, Ganesha and Shiva led by Lothian
and Borders Police Pipe Band and other bagpipe bands from Stewart Melville
College, George Heriotts College and other local schools.

The parade will leave Esplanade Edinburgh Castle and parade to Calton Hill.
The Demon King Ravana, his son Meghnad and brother Kumbhakarna will be put
to fire with fireworks in an a celebration of the victory of Good over Evil
- a universal theme in all religions and faiths.
