One of the most important functions of the Internet must surely be to give
us access to good quality information about our lives, and also give us the
tools (such as GOOGLE) to research the true facts and reject the lies, such
as hoax emails about diet and medical treatments. As senior citizens we play
an important part in advising younger generations, and we should make sure
we GET IT RIGHT.

When you get "important news" with advice to "pass it on to everyone you
care about" don't be gullible, please do some checking first!!!!

Putting the words "*johns hopkins cancer update*" into the GOOGLE search bar
gives us ACCURATE information, such as the following:----

*EMAIL HOAX REGARDING CANCER*

An email falsely attributed to Johns Hopkins describing properties of cancer
cells and suggesting prevention strategies has begun circulating the
Internet. Johns Hopkins did not publish the email, entitled "Cancer Update
from Johns Hopkins," nor do we endorse its contents. For more information
about cancer, please read the information on our web site or visit the
National Cancer Institute's web site at
www.cancer.gov<http://web.archive.org/web/20070504193914/http://www.cancer.gov/>
.

Another hoax email that has been circulating since 2004 regarding plastic
containers, bottles, wrap claiming that heat releases dioxins which cause
cancer also was not published by Johns Hopkins. More
information<http://web.archive.org/web/20070504193914/http://www.jhsph.edu/PublicHealthNews/articles/Halden_dioxins.html>
