The Intelligence Bureau says that it had issued a series of alerts since
the year 2009 regarding the build up of the Burdhwan module. However what
is interesting to point out that the first signs of a build up was spotted
in the year 2007 and it was Colonel Purohit who had issued that alert and
even prepared a report. While today the Burdhwan operation is being termed
as setting up of a Greater Bangladesh, back then it was called a plan to
establish Islamistan.

Colonel Purohit who has been accused of aiding subversive activities had in
fact claimed several times that he had become a target and his job was to
mingle with terrorists in order to prepare reports.

His letter which dates back to January 2007 makes a clear mention about the
Burdwan module and the uneasy situation that was being created by
Bangladesh based militants and the SIMI in India. His letter bearing the
number 106/LU/G had stated that there was movement from Bangladesh where in
some radicals were crossing over into West Bengal and settling down. He
also mentions that these persons were involved in the movement of arms and
ammunition into India. Colonel Purohit’s letter is a clear indicator that
the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh with the able support of the
Jamaat-e-Islami had decided on making West Bengal a base in order to target
the establishment in Bangladesh. It is also an indicator that the same
modules were trying to set up base for the SIMI in India as well.

Colonel Purohit who was part of the military intelligence wing at that time
further states that several religious leaders from Bangladesh had set up
shop in West Bengal. He states in his letter that they were acting as
recruiters and had been involved in luring the youth into their fold. He
also said that recruitments were also taking place in other cities
including Bangalore and Pune as well.

He details the plans of the JMB while stating that the primary reason was
not only to create unrest in Bangladesh but in the long target the Indian
establishment as well. They were planning on setting up major modules in a
bid to fight the Indian establishment as well. He speaks about the
infiltration into India by the Bangladeshis and points out that they were
told to spread into various parts of the country. The intent was to build a
huge force of people so that they were at the beck and call of their
masters each time they sought to create commotion.

He also speaks in length about the creation of an Islamic Necklace which
would include the states of Assam, West Bengal and Tripura. These areas
have seen a great deal of infiltration over the past couple of the years
and even the NIA which is now probing the case has found detailed links
between the JMB and these states.

After targeting the above mentioned states, the same outfits also had
planned on coming down to South and using modules in Kerala in a bid to set
up similar modules. They had planned on setting up the Usmanistan module in
the Telangana region and the Maplistan movement in Kerala.

This meant that these militants would have three deadly modules within
India called the Islamistan, Maplistan and the Usmanistan. This more or
less would have covered the entire nation. The Indian Intelligence Bureau
has been warning about the increased infiltrations which have been rising
by the day. Every day 100s of Bangladeshis are pushed into India exploiting
their socio-economic condition. However what goes unseen is that in this
batch of people who come to earn their daily bread terrorists too manage to
get in.
