SITTING BALAJI Pune is a city of immense importance in the history of India, and was the heart of an Indian renaissance in self rule, freedom from foreign aggression, cultural and religion, beginning with Chhtrapatti Shivaji, through Balaji Peshwe, Baji Rao Peshwe when the city was the virtual capital of a free and strong re-emerging nation. In Bhawani peth area, just opposite the temple of Bhawani, there is an old "Balaji Temple" wherein you find a beautiful black idol of the God Balaji which is in SITTING position. About more than 700 years old, this SITTING BALAJI is the only Balaji, next to TIRUMALA. This is the only Balaji who is sitting. Nowhere else can you find a SITTING BALAJI idol in the world!!
