*சுற்றிக் கிடந்தேனோ மாலையாண்டானைப் போலே* *திருமாலையாண்டான் ஆளவந்தாரின் சீடர். திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையில் அவதரித்த இவரின் இயற்பெயர் ஞானபூரணர். திருவாய்மொழி வியாக்யானங்களை ஆளவந்தாரிடம் கற்றவர்.* *ஸ்ரீ ரங்கம் அழைத்து வந்த திருகோட்டியூர் நம்பி, ஒரு முறை திருமாலையாண்டானிடம் இராமானுஜருக்கு நம்மாழ்வாரின் திருவாய்மொழியை கற்பிக்குமாரு வேண்டினார். திருமாலையாண்டானும் ஒப்புக் கொண்டார்.* *திருமாலையாண்டான் , தான் கற்ற வியாக்யானத்தை இராமானுஜருக்கு உரைத்தார். ஆனால், இராமானுஜர் அவ்வப்போது குறுக்கிட்டு, ‘இதற்கு இந்தப் பொருள் வராதே’ எனக் கூறி, அவர் ஒரு விளக்கத்தை உரைப்பார். இது ஆண்டானுக்கு எரிச்சல் மூட்டியது.உதாரணத்திற்கு, திருவாய்மொழி இரண்டாம் பத்தில் வரும் "அறியாக் காலத்துள்ளே அடிமைக்கண் அன்பு செய்வித்து அறியாமா மாயத்து அடியேனை வைத்தாயால்: அறியாமைக் குறள் ஆய்,நிலம் மாவலி மூவடி என்று அறியாமை வஞ்சித்தாய், எனது ஆவியுள் கலந்தே"என்ற பாசுரத்திற்கு ஆண்டான், "அறிவு பெறாத காலத்தில் தன்னுடன் வைத்திருந்த பெருமாள், பின்பு தன்னை சம்சார சாகரத்தில் தள்ளி வஞ்சித்து விட்டதாக புலம்புகிறார் ஆழ்வார்." எனப் பொருள் கூறினார்.ஆனால் இராமானுஜர், "அது சரியான விளக்கம் அல்ல. தன்னுள்ளே உரையும் இறைவனை தெரிந்து கொள்ளாதது தனது அறியாமையே." என்று விளக்கினார். இதனால் கடுப்பான ஆண்டான், “ஆளவந்தாரிடம் இவ்விளக்கத்தை நான் கேட்டதில்லை. நீர் புது விளக்கம் கூறுவது, விஸ்வாமித்திரரின் மூன்றாம் உலகத்தைப் போன்றுள்ளது.”, என்று கூறி, அவ்விடத்தை விட்டு நீங்கினார். கற்பிப்பதையும் நிறுத்தினார்.* *பாடம் நடத்துவதை ஆண்டான் நிறுத்தி விட்டதை அறிந்த திருக்கோட்டியூர் நம்பி, ஸ்ரீ ரங்கம் விரைந்து வந்து, திருமாலையாண்டானின் வாயிலாக நடந்தவற்றைக் கேட்டு அறிந்தார். பின்னர், “இராமானுஜரின் இவ்விளக்கத்தை ஒரு முறை ஆளவந்தார் உரைத்து நானே கேட்டிருகிறேன். ஆளவந்தாரின் மனதில் இல்லாதது ஒன்றும் இராமானுஜரின் நாவில் வராது. எல்லாம் அறிந்த கிருஷ்ண பகவான் சாந்திபனி முனிவரிடம் பாடம் கேட்டார். அதுபோல எண்ணி இராமானுஜருக்குக் கற்பிக்கவும்.”- என ஆண்டானுக்கு அறிவுரை கூறினார்.* *திரும்பப் பாடம் ஆரம்பமானது. இராமானுஜர் குறுக்கீடு தொடர்ந்தது. ஆண்டான், இராமானுஜர் சொல்லும் அர்த்தம் பொருத்தமாக இருப்பதை உணர்ந்தார். இராமானுஜரிடம், "நீர் ஆளவந்தாரிடம் பேசியதில்லை. அவர் பேசிக் கேட்டதும் இல்லை.அப்படியிருக்க இவ்வளவு சரியாக அவர் எண்ணங்களை எப்படி பிரதிபலிக்கிறீர்கள்?", என்றார். அதற்கு இராமானுஜர், “நான் ஆளவந்தாரின் ஏகலைவன்”, என்றார்.திருக்கோளூர் அம்மாள், “ராமானுஜரின் குறுக்கீடுகள் இருந்தும், அவரைச் சுற்றியே இருந்த திருமாலையாண்டான் போல நான் சுற்றிக் கிடந்தேனோ?”, என்று வினவுகிறார்.* *========********========* ********======== *******======== ******** *suRRik kidandhEnO mAlaiyANdAn pOlE* *Thirumaalaiyandan is one of the prime disciple of Alavandar. Ramanuja had five main acharyas - Periya Nambi, Thirukkottiyur Nambi, Thirumaalaiyandan, Thiruvaranga Perumal Araiyar and Thirumalai Nambi. Based on the order of Thirukkotiyur Nambi, he learned Bhagavad Vishayam (the meanings of Nammazhwar's Thiruvaimozhi pasurams) from Thirumaalaiyandan.* *While Thirumaalaiyandan was preaching Ramanuja the meanings of Thiruvaimozhi, as per the teachings of his acharya Swami Alavandar, at some places Ramanuja would propose a different explanation for the verses. At one point, Thirumaalaiyandan became upset with the alternate explanations proposed by Ramanuja and told him "These are not the meanings that I have heard from Alavandar. What you are doing is Vishvamitra srushti" and, saying so, he stopped teaching Ramanuja.* *When Thirukottiyur Nambi heard that the lessons had stopped, he came to Srirangam and asked Thirumaalaiyandan as to what happened. When Thirumaalaiyandan told him what happened, Thirukkottiyur Nambi told him-"I have heard these additional meanings from Alavandar. Ramanuja listening to you is similar to Krishna learning from Sandipani. Ramanuja will not think of any meaning that was not in the mind of Alavandar. Do continue the teachings".* *Hearing that, Thirumaalaiyandan became pleased that he was able to hear the meanings of the verses that he had missed hearing from Alavandar. Thirumaalaiyandan asked Ramanuja how he knows this meaning even without meeting Alavandhar,Ramanuja replied – “It is because I am like Ekalvayan for Alavandhar.” Understanding the greatness of Ramanuja, Thirumaalaiyandan offered his respects to Ramanuja.
