Dear friends, My title roughly means the Godwho has opened the mouth will give food also. This is the case of all beings.The infant requires food- The God has provided milk in breast of the female.This is the case of all mammals. Today I thought of writing about mouth. The primitive communicationincluded body language along with sounds produced by the mouth, beforedevelopment of languages. The new born kid starts itscommunication with cry, a sound produced by mouth. Most of the sound isproduced through mouth, though some sounds are produced in stomach, muscles etc. And we could hear it sometimes. (Knuckles, sounds from stomach, air throughanus etc.) 2. Purposes of mouth. Food intake is possible onlythrough mouth. (I am not forgetting drips etc. given in the vein, when feedingby mouth is not possible. This is special when a personwith diabetics faints with blood sugar falling too low after taking higher doseof insulin etc.) When food consumed is notdigesting, vomiting out is through the mouth. This is especially importantagain with infants and small children, not digesting food. For voicecommunication a person can talk through mouth. In case of difficulty whilebreathing through nose, people breathe using mouth. One cansee oxygen cylinder is connected covering nose and mouth in ICU. 3. Vac vaibhavam (Presentation) It is the fluency of expressionin clear and understanding manner. Every person can talk, but some can talk inan identifying manner, if I am correct. There will be no searching for words orthe way to put it. Some can talk everything with a purity and divinity inexpression. 4. Vayilla poocchhi A person not able to express anddefend himself and innocent is called Vayilla ppoochi (insect without mouth) 5. Vayil thonniyathu kothaikku paattu (What came to mouth is music for Kothai) The literal meaning is what evercame in mouth to Kothai (devotee of Krishna) it was divine music. However now a day the saying isused to mean a lady/ man who talk without any sense and thinking, simplytalking. 6. Vayum vayarum undengilum, alavillathae kazhikkaruthu (Stomach andmouth is available, but food intake should be limited. There is a mouth to take in food,there is a stomach to digest and keep, but there should be a limit also to thefood intake for efficient functioning. 6a. Vayil ninnu veenal edukkan pattilla. It is a very important saying- Wehave to control our words through mouth. Words spoken cannot be taken back. 7. Mouth feeding or spoon feeding. I cannot get the correctMalayalam translation for this saying. Only infants and small kids are to befed by others. As they grow up, they should be able to do things independently A student came out of collegeafter getting a degree, should not be helped by his parents by FILLING UP ANAPPLICATION FORM FOR JOB. He should notbe helped to fill a water bottle or packing biscuits in a bag or selectingdresses etc. for a journey etc. These sort of activities of a parents arecalled mouth feeding and make him not self- relying. Though I wrote it, most of theparents do mouth feeding to their wards, fearing mistakes, carelessness etc. In the early stages. I have done to my son my son in his earlydays of employment. However after a time, mouth feeding has to be GRADUALLYSTOPPED. The beauty is some children onmaturity express their capability and we do not offer mouth feeding and them HESITATEIT. But a few express and ask for mouthfeeding. Update- Recently I read an IIT student absent minded tickedfor the question – whetheryou require correspondence notes from the IIT – no and he landed in difficulty. 8. Controlling mouth. It is one of the basic needs ofthe society. If there is a perfect control of mouth, no mother in law, daughterin law quarrel would occur. But human nature is different, quarrel, argument, challenge, pride etc.are human qualities WITH EVERY BODY, Some controls a lot, somecontrol to a certain extent, and some do not control is the true fact. 9. Vomiting in examination things learnt by heart. Actually the saying is a mis-norm,only thing is a great relief to the brain after writing the examination. Unlessbrain controls, writing is not possible. 10. Puranic reference of vomiting Krishna yajurvedam by sage Yanjavalkya. Yanjavalkya was learning underhis uncle Vaisampayana. Some difference of opinion created between them, and Vaisampayanaasked to vomit what he learnt from him. Accordingly the Krishna Yajurvedataught by him was vomited by yanjavalkya. He prayed to sun god. Pleased withhis prayers Sun God taught him Shukla Yajurveda. The Veda appeared as lettersin the light before Yanjavalkya. Update- In southern Kerala most Brahminsare followers of KRISHNA YAJURVEDA. 11. Oral hygiene. It is not possible to havehundred percent hygiene perfectness. Mouth is having good and bad bacteria.With more and more hygiene, there is a possibility of GOOD BACTERIA’S GOTDESTROYED. Always saliva is there in the mouth to keep it wet. It will not smell fragrant. Bad odour is something whichothers feel than by the person. DUE TO MOUTH OR STOMACH DISEASES ALSO BAD ODOURCAN REMAIN IN MOUTH, immediately after brushing teeth and tongue and verycleanly washing the mouth. Without knowing things we should not remark orcomment of bad odour. Even certain medications can create badodour in mouth. Tobacco, cigarette, liquor, garlicetc. Give bad smell to the mouth.Chewing pan and washing mouth give some good smell. Cleaning well the mouth afterintake of food, use of mouth washes once or twice etc., could keep the mouthnot smelling bad. There are fresheners for the mouth and use of fresheners are alsogood specially when going to a meeting etc. Decayed teeth, paining gum,stomach problems etc. can give more bad dour to mouth. In myopinion, a person should be conscious of oral hygiene and do the best for it.One can fell the smell of decay smell of teeth, while scrapping for root canal. Once I had a tooth problem andafter brushing and cleaning teeth and feeling good smell I went todentist. While scrapping for root canal,I smelled bad odour. I asked the reason- I asked the doctor with reluctance- Hereplied- You have cleaned outside of teeth.
