Respected friends, Today on reading the nostalgia of CNU POONAE,nostalgic memories of an incident occurred during a new technology training at Trivandrum came tome. I was thinking of writing about the nostalgia a few days earlier also. Withoutdelaying I am posting today. Sincerely, Gopala Krishnan 28-2-2021. Prelude TV Rajasekharan Nair from Neyyatinkarawas a senior Junior Engineer colleague with me at Nagerkovil Division. He wasJE at Kuzhithura, border exchange to Kerala. He had late marriage in 1979. Hiswife hailed from Quilon. I relieved him from duties forhis marriage taking charge of Kuzhithrua. I had some official issues while inNagerkovil with my officer (Assistant Engineer) and he helped me to defend thecharges made by him. This made him closer to me. Later being senior, he himself became myofficer at Nagerkovil for a short while. He got posted to Kerala circle as AssistantEngineer. Later I got posted to Trichy as AssistantEngineer, and was transferred to Namakkal. I was deputed for a new Electronicstraining in 1989. He too came to training and we were allotted nearby rooms. After about ten years we weremeeting. Incident. We had Saturday and Sunday holidays, andI thought on the first Saturday itself going to home and see my father. He tooprogrammed to go to Quilon. Somehow having an Examination on Monday, Idecided to go after some studies in the afternoon. It was three hour journeyfrom Trivandrum to my home. I had finished my packing purchasingfruits and medicines to my father. I was about to start, Sri Rajasekharan cameto my room tired andsweating. Hewanted some relaxation and company to see some film in any theatre. He requested me why can’t I start early morning Sunday. I agreed. Whatmade him tired? He started by bus to Quilon and reachedhis in law’s home. Other than mother in law, no body, his wife and kids hadgone to some function to his brother in law’s home and return only Sundayafternoon. After formality talks and some snacks he said, he would come nextday afternoon. He felt, about three months he met mother. He started to Neyyatinkara. On reachinghome, he found the door locked, his mother had gone to her daughter’s home, would return only Monday.On those days no phones we had to communicate. Hectic, he came to hostel, no mealsavailable and he wanted me to go with him for meals in some hotel and a filmfor relaxation. The film Vadakkan Veeragatha was just released afew days earlier. Theatre was close to Thampanoor were he took meals. We reached theatre. All seats full except the frontrows which had plenty of seats, the ticket counter man told us. Heresponded- Whatever seat now it is Okey. I want relaxation. We took front seat tickets and took thelast rows. At that time I never knew it had beautiful songs. It became a successfilm. We saw characters atleast 1.5 times bigger than what we could see sitting in last row. Wereturned after film taking meals from nearby restaurant. Promptingto write this nostalgia On Friday night in the Doordarshan channelRangoli was presented by the almost permanent anchor Anjana Haridas. She has also actedin films. Theme was Vadakkan Pattukal and last one was from Vadakkan Veeragathaacted by Mammoty and Madhavi in main roles. Madhavi as Unniarcha and Mammootyas Chandu. The songscreened was Chandana lepa sugandham choodiyatharo Katto kaminiyo Mai varnna petti thurannu koduthath Yauvanamo rithu devathayo Yauvanamo rithu devathayo Chandana lepa sugandham choodiyatharo Katto kaminiyo… Whenever the song is screened/ filmshown in TV nostalgic memories of the incident would come to me. While working in Calicut as Divisionalengineer, my staff from Vadakara used to tell me- sir one day we would go to Lokanarkavu temple and thepond is still there, where Unniyarcha used to have bath.
