SAMAYAMAYILLA POLUM… (The specified Time has not come …) Dear friends,
Today I was discussing about jetlag and mental clock with a friend. Jetlag is the effect on us due tothe time difference caused between very distant countries. But a mental clock wouldwork even after the jet lag effect is over for a large period of time. The mental clock with in us is80% adjusted to real time. Its adjustment could get upset when a person isseverely bed ridden and having anxiety etc. Some thinking about time. Sincerely, Gopala Krishnan 27-8-2013. He put only one condition. Karnashould not be the commander to Duryodhana. Duryodhana agreed. He knew the valour ofperiappa, whatever is his age. Krishna knew very well Kouravascannot be defeated as long as Bhishmar is not defeated- An impossible thing. Finally Bhishmar agreed- He would not fight with Sikhandi. (Amba in previous birth). Bhishma fell down on the arrowssent by Sikhandi and he lay on the arrows as bed till UTHARAYANAM comes. The 18 days war wasduring the end of Dakshinayanam. After utharyanam started on anauspicious day he left his life and went abode. Bhishma could have his death onthe time desired due to a blessing. So the epic point out about Utharayana Puniakalam. 2. No war after sun set One of the important conditionsof the war was no war after sunset. It was on one such occasion in the nightKunthi met Karna. She revealed the so far not told secret of his birth. Arevelation by mother to Son. It had its effect. He promised he would not killany other Pandavas other than Arjuna and further told- Any way either he die or Arjunadie, she would have five sons. Karna was killed when he washaving no weapon and adjusting the sunken wheel of his chariot since Krishna knew very well no otherway he could be killed. 3. Vanavasam. Either in Mahabharatham or inRamayanam it is 14 years – a period told of Forest life. Yesterday I read Nalatoo had to suffer a period of 14 years due to the curse of sage whom heimprisoned in previous life as a king, for no fault of the sage. 4. Gouthama losing his mental calculation. We have the Indra- Moon episodewhere Indra taking the form of sage Gauthama, while moon takes the form of acock and caw informing early morning. Gauthama wakes up and go the river sidefor bath. I have a special reason to writethis. If a crow caw in the late night and a person wake up, he immediatelythink, it is morning. On looking at the clock, if itshows late night, he would suspect the clock and not the bird!! He may look atwatch, now again mobile and ensure the time is late midnight and not earlymorning. 5. Rhythm of life. The mental clock informs a personhe is getting hungry, it is time for sleep, and it is time for wake up in thesystematic life. The rhythm changes when a personchanges his lifestyle. If a person continuously go to sleep after 12 PM andwakes up by 8 AM it becomes a practice. I recollect just after a cup of coffee sleeping up to 10 AM after nightduty while I was in Tutucorin. My wife would not wake me till 10 AM on thosedays. On those days my breakfast used to be after 10 AM. Update- Now at 77, my breakfast is normally about 10 AM after morningchaos. 6. Emotionally moved, anxiety When a person is emotionallymoved or having anxiety, the mental clock or external clock would have noeffect. If there is a srardha on the nextday or sumangali prarthanai on next day, none of our people could sleep theprevious day. As if people will fall to sleep, alarm would be kept for 5 AM , but afterrolling in the bed they would wake up at1 AM, 3 AM and after seeing 4 AM they will start the work, and switch of the alarmat 5 AM. If a person has to start earlymorning 6 AM train, not that he would wake up at 4 AM, he would get up from bedafter rolling in thoughts. The only exception to the aboveis when people are extremely tired after very hard work, where sleep can overtake anxiety and emotion. When a person is emotionallymoved like in a quarrel, words exchange etc. sleep cannot approach them. Butafter repeated such incidents mental clock adjust in the proper manner. One day my father was cleaningthe samooham matam premises. He was doing it after coming from schoolwork. One of the office bearers justtold some more work there, to my father. He was a youngster to my father. Next day too while my father was doing, hesaid about the works. I lost my patience standing near him. I asked- My fatheris doing honorary work, why can’t he do and simply make comments? My father controlled as a boy Ishould not talk, if my father cannot do it he would not do. That ends thematter. I could not digest the logic…. Next day, the gentle man’s mother came tomy mother and said- xxx could not sleep for a moment and restless since I saidso for the entire night. The incident I quoted here, how a personcan be moved even by the words of a boy. Mixed feelings could come in his mind. 7.
