BONE-ELUMBU- ELLAU

I was recollecting the proverb inMalayalam- Ellu muriyaepanithal, Pallumuriyae
thinnam. If you work hard there will be nodifficulty for living. Really it is a
true proverb. Where hard physical work isrequired, there are lesser people, and
for their work, there is high demand andthey are paid well.

I recollect an instance whileconstructing my native home. I got large size
granite blocks broken from a smallhill nearby Lorry loads. But they had to be
sized smaller. Person sizing was indemand. After about five days, my contractor
brought a short man with a VERYBIG HAMMER. All were cautioned not to be close
because while blasting with it,particles would fly off. What a special care
given to him!!. He finished thework in one day. He was paid three times of a
mason. Ordinary masons cannotblast like him.

When all better workers left formiddle east for the very high remuneration it
was very difficult to get even anassistant mason or carpenter at one time in
Kerala during 1985’s. At that timefinding gold treasure workers from Tamilnadu
started to come and work in Keralaand they demanded high wages since in due
course good workers among them alsobecame rare.

Update- Now people from North East, Rajasthan etc.are workers in Kerala and
Tamilnadu. Tamilnadu people are settled, talkMalayalam fluently and they are
supervisors in Kerala and Tamilnadu. Certainspecial works in marble, granite
and even for tiles works Rajasthan workers areexperts.

A person appearing even withslight tiredness due to two or three days journey
itself is often told by hisparents- your body has become simply skin covered
and bones are seen. Actuallyhe may be fleshy.

On those days as age advance byabout 70,    it was common to haveappearing
slightly bones well seen covered by shrink skin in certain placeswith most
people.  Today even people of80 does not appear so-Thanks to medical advance
and eating practices andfinancial status for affording etc.

Update- Now for covid vaccine, there is more rushin private hospitals and
people are maintained in waiting list in Tamilnadu. Most affordable prefer
private hospital

Bone of contention-phrase of bone I got thefollowing as correct meaning and
example on google search.

A subject or issue over whichthere is continuing disagreement." -the
examination system has long been aserious bone of contention".

Though I have studied in myprimary class - of a dog carrying a fleshy bone
passing through a small woodenbridge found it’s shadow in water and barked as
another dog was there, and bonefell down I have never seen any dog carrying now
a day with a bone.Occasionally near meat shops we could see dogs waiting for
hours and once awhile getting a small bit of meat.

As age advance bone fracture isdifficult to set, comparing to younger age. In
younger age jointing by putting plasteror bandage 99% set together. However
once broken, it is a weak area.  This bone fracture is due to bones becoming
brittle with less bonemarrow.

While starting to write aboutbone, I got from a google search-Now methods are
available for purifying without using bone powder ascatalyst in manufacturing
sugar.

Another search made by me wasabout the bone of sage Dadichi which was asked by
Indra for making weapons tofight against demons and defeating.

Most Hindus collect the bones/bone ashes from the funeral of the dead and
deposit in Ganga or ocean or mouthof ocean near which human inhabitation is not
more. It was news to me when I was reading Lingayatsbury the dead- not give the
body to fire.

Update On later reading I could gather the Pisharaticommunity also bury the
dead.

It was also a practice at onetime while digging for building a home, if a bone
of human was found; the placewas discarded from constructing home. Now such
practice cannot be practicable.

For certain animals like cows, wecan see born on the body covered by skin,
though they are quite healthy. Withage flesh would be disappearing more in
them.

Though not much related to bone, skin of oxen of the dead is taken, treated and
processed to make the skins fordrums.
