DIVINEINFORMATION PART 10
Dear friends, While going through one of my externalmemory device, I came across some good information stored from a website (not available now). I thought of sharing interesting ones fromthem as a series. These are short information. Inpart 10 , I am starting with 44th item in this posting. Sincerely, Gopala Krishnan 19-05-2021. 44VEDAS Theword Veda means knowledge. There are four Vedas dating from the earliestperiod of known Indian scriptures; the Rig Veda, a collection of praises in theform of hymns; the Sama Veda, also a collection of hymns; the Yajur Veda, collection of charms and magic formulas. The texts were developed over a long period, possibly beginningbefore the Aryans arrived in India (B.C. 1700-1200). The textswere passed down orally, being handed on from one generation of priests toanother, syllable perfect inintonation and rhythm, from memory and by rote. An error in recital led topunishment and penances; in effect, to hear a Vedic passage today is to hearthe oral equivalent of a tape recording over three thousand years old. It was forbidden to write downthe text, but about the 14th century A.D. some parts of the Vedaswere transcribed but the entire text is still a guarded province ofscholarship. My note- 4thVeda is Adharva Veda. YANTRA Yantra is the visual form of mantra, aprayer. A tantric textstates, ‘Yantra has mantra as its soul. The deity is the soul of the mantra. The difference between mantra and deity is similar to that between a body andits soul’. Though two-dimensional, yantras areconceived of as having depth and full dimension. Yantras may be drawn orpainted on any material, out of any substance. However, the human body is often called by tantrics thebest of all yantras. There is no parallel for the term in English, butyantra may be summarized as a two-dimensional diagram where visualized energiesare concentrated, or simply, a field of energy. With its mantra, a yantra is a complexof stored imagery of sight and sound and psychic and mystical content. Many yantras seem to be nothing morethan an interwoven complex of geometrical designs centred upon a point (bindu). Triangles, sign of the yoni, may predominate, enclosing the point. The whole may beenclosed by a square, signifying the cosmic dynamics and the four corners ofthe universe. Yantras are thus worshipped ascontaining the divine presence. The yantra is often confused with a mandala butthe former is appropriate to a specific deity only, while the latter mayenclose an infinite number of deities. It is an image of the universe, areceptacle of the gods. There are innumerable yantras. Of themthe most famous are the Sri Chakra or Sri Yantra. 45 YOGA The word ‘yoga’ meansto yoke or unite and is used to imply the means or path by which the individualsoul unites with God. It is not to beconfused with physical exercises alone. Yoga has eight types of disciplines. Thefirst two, Yama and Niyama, purify the heart and bring about ethical discipline. Yama means abstention fromevils of all types; killing, untruth, property, etc. Niyamameans observance of purity and practice of austerities. Thenext three steps, Asana, Pranayama, and Pratyahara are preliminary to Yoga. Asanas are yogic postures which, whenpracticed, steady the mind for concentration and discipline the body. Pranayama are breathing exercises whichimprove the condition of the lungs, the heart and the nervous system. Pratyahara means shutting out alloutward impressions from the mind and looking inward. Mynote- In physiotherapy exercises we perform simple youga postures. Normally oneperform for a physicalperiod The last three steps are called RajaYoga and include Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi, Dharanameans concentration on any one subject, which could be a light within one’s mind. Dhyanaor meditation involves an unceasing flow of thoughts and ideas toward this object. Suchmeditation leads to the final state known as Samadhi, when the subject of themeditation and the objectbecomes one. 46Samadhi Samadhi itself has two steps. In the first, the conscious samadhi, the yogi attains supernatural powers by the strength of his yogicpractices, becomes clairvoyant, adept at mind-reading and thought-transmission. The yogi, who ignores such powers and progressesfurther, attains the superconscious or nirvikalpa samadhi. The yogi in this stage is a liberatedsoul. Samadhi is still practiced by somesadhus (holy men), specially in the Himalayas where they live in caves. It is said that they have the ability to slow downtheir heartbeats. Theylie down in a box which is buried 10 to 12 feet underground where they remainfor many days. 47 MUHURTHAMS The Muhurtham is also familiar as Lagnam’. The eminent Panchang Scholars provides or suggestMuhurtham for any specific occasion basing on the name/ star(Nakshatram) etc. Some of the eminent Muhurthams of the running year are given in a row withDate, Time, Thidhi, Nakshatram (Star), Muhurtham, Lagna, name, etc. Whoever are not in aposition to source Scholars can avail the service of fixing Muhurtham by ourveteran scholars having on the details submitted by the users. We also furnishall the details including LagnaKundali charts with placement of Grahas andtheir consequences. As veteran Panchang Scholars say minor doshas areinevitable while fixing Muhurtham as all the settings cannot allow to fix a doshaproof Muhurtham. Theminor doshas those can be compensated with feasible remedies like Japas,Daanas (charities), etc. are furnished with details, for the immediatereference of the user. We can also organise these performances on behalf of theuser even without his presence. User’s representatives may witness theperformances. My note- Many do not look in to the star whether the muhurthday is auspicious to them inTamilnadu. As said above some poojas are done to ward of nakshathradosha. 48Braahmi(Brahma Muhurth) The time 90 minutes prior to sunrise is called Braahmi. This time is good for academics, purohits and the time where in the later hours, the night the last 48 mins. (2ghadi) is called Braahmi. 'Braahmi'means Saraswathi, the Goddess of intellect. The abovespecified time is auspicious for gaining and sustaining intelligence andknowledge, owing to which it is called Braahmi. It isduring Braahmi that Sun god spreads his raysjust as a peacock spreading its feathers. He starts spreading his light andenergy throughout the world. The light rays from the Galaxies influence thehuman brain. The nascent sun spreads thousand arms in the form of rays acrossthe sky, which emit light-blue devine rays. These rays bring to life the cellsand the brain. Lord Surya orthe sun god is also the god of life. If the man can synchronise his senseswith these rays during this hour he will be empowered with unchallengeable energy. This observation was endorsed by sages. This isthe time when the life under the sun still remains in deep sleep supported bythe tranquil and pleasant environment, the sages and munis spread the power ofpenance, which comes out in the form of high powered electrical and magneticcharge, for the up liftment of the living creatures on the earth. If one keep awake during thesehours, it is possible to benefit from this charge. The Western pundits have this to say:Tyndall teaches that every mechanical action on face of the earth, everymanifestation on power, organic or inorganic, vital and physical, is producedby the Sun which is the reservoir of the electrical, magnetic and vital forcesrequired by our system, which are taken in by all men, animals, vegetables, minerals and by them translated in to various life-forces. Get as much Sunshine as possible in to yourself.Sunshine contains vitality. Admit lots of Sunshine into your house. (Capt.Walter Carey) James Allen is an American scientist. He opines that "eachof you think scientifically rising early is good for health. It increases bloodcirculation. Body gains energy. This energy helps him spend theentire day enthusiasticallly. Waking at down blossoms the intellect. Solution can befound for any kind problems since one can examine the problem analyticallyduring those hours. The brain remains calm and whatever is read is firmlyunderstood and remembered. Early in the mornings the weather is tranquil. Oxygenis present in greater ratio. Lungs get healthy air. When the warm rays of the sunfall on the skin there will be no skin diseases. Sweat pores will be activated.Digestion will improve. Thus say physiologists. There are other advantages of waking up at Braahmi.Throughout the night the wind takes unimaginable amounts of Amrutham (elixir)from the rays of the moon and the stars. This wind provides a healthy cover inthe atmosphere at dawn. Theair during Braahmi Muhurtamis called 'Veeravayu'. The Veeravayu helpsthe body maintain good health, increases the facial glow, inspires the mind andsharpens the intellect . At dawn, it is said, manes in the other world are atpeace and gain strength. This strength spreads across the world. My note- Perhaps the blood circulation is more at morning most patientsleep in the early morning. PANCHANGAM "Vedic rituals areperformed according to the position of various planets [and the sun and themoon]. There are rules to determine this. The right day and hour [muhurat] fora function is fixed according to the position of celestial bodies." (Divine sayings of Periayaval) In Hindu Society, allimportant functions or rituals will be conducted only after choosing a propertime for them This is done with the help of Almanac or Panchanga(m), animportant booklet possessed by every house-hold in Hindu families throughoutthe world. It is common evenamongst some Muslim or Christian families to consult an almanac beforefinalizing the timing of any auspicious event. The Sanskrit word "Panchanga" means fivesegments or limbs, namely, Thithi (lunar day), Vara (week day), Nakshatra(constellation), Yoga (luni-solar day) and Karana (half of a lunar day). Thefive limbs of the Panchanga represent the five sources of energy, visible aswell as invisible, as denoted by these segments in a day. It is believed by thefollowers of the Panchanga that a proper balance of these energies is necessaryfor health, wealth and prosperity of mankind. The almanac provides guidelinesfor a person to undertake various activities in accordance with the bestpossible and most beneficial combination of these five elements signified bythe five limbs. The combination varies depending on the nature of activityundertaken. The time so chosen forthese activities, religious, social or otherwise, is called a"Muhurtha(m)". In a Hindu family or Society, no religious or socialactivity, which is compared important, is undertaken without fixing a propermuhurtha(m). Thus, apart from individual’s activities, dates for thefestivals, sowing of plants and other agricultural activities and commonreligious functions are also chosen or determined on the basis of auspicioustime indicated in the Panchanga. Panchangam or Almanac willfurnish the user with the details like duration of Thidhis, Nakshatras (stars),moments of Grahas, auspiciousoccasions, Muhurats, Festivals, Subh & Asubh, Sunrise, Sunset, Varjyam(dur-Muhurat), etc. for all the days. Info about Nakshatras, Rasi(Zodiac signs), daily / weekly / monthly / yearly predictions, remedies forastrological doshas, etc. will be furnished in a way that enables even alayman to understand it at a glance. Make a commitment to follow the path of no resistance. This is thepath through which nature's intelligence unfolds spontaneously, withoutfriction or effort. When you have the exquisite combination of acceptance, responsibility, and defense lessness, you will experience life flowing witheffortless ease.
