Q1         Why are governmentemployees so lazy in India?

A1          Kaushal Kumar (कौशल कुमार) Updated October 2, 2020 Works at
Government of India

I worked in the private sector for 5 years and now I am a Group Agovernment
mulagim. I have seen enough of both sides.

Life has taught me there are two types of government officials,

Type one: They are the keys ofgoodness, they like to servepeople. They find
happiness in facilitating human life and their value is inwhat they give, their
real achievement is changing life for the better andopening the doors, they
offer solutions, and they always seek the benefit ofpeople. When someone joins
the service, he is in this category. But still they make up just around10% and
these are the people who are keeping the government organizationsrunning.

The second type of governmentofficials are those who stopthe good things and
make human life more difficult. Because of the workenvironment, lack of
motivation and need of everything to go through properchannel, they
findhappiness seeing people standing by their doors. Nobody is in this
categorywhen they join service. Still they make up around 90%. Why?

Getting a Government job is very difficult. One has to write someextremely
competitive examination and get qualified to enter into Government.

So I can say that all the employees working in theCentral Government are
intelligent enough to do their duties effectively. Butonce they come inside,
they see the real ambience, which is very discouraging. The only reasoni see
for it is, if you are too stupid or lazy to work, you can stay stupid orlazy.

Your work will be given to those who work and know how to do it. Slowlymost of
the category one guys shifts to category 2.

One more point is foreverything is a written SOP (standard operating procedure)
and employees theyare too scared of the consequences if they do something out
of proper channel. They are always confused about the dueprocess and the
authority clearance. The administration chain is so messed upthat half of the
time everyone is looking for relevant authority figure whowould clear
something. Inthis digital age government workers still love paper so much even
when it meansdoing the same work twice.

The ball is not in my court: Nogovernment employee wants to lose his job.
Government employees doget fired in case you are not aware. Now, all they care
is the responsibilityof completing the work should not come on me and no body
should figure at me.For this, they can show you hundred written clauses why
this work cannot bedone or in worst case should not be done by him/her. I think
the problem lies in theaccountability. Make people accountable and see the
efficiency.

Infrastructure off course is also not very motivating in most offices.

My note- 50% staff areproductive. One of the bank

managers close to me told in anoccasion while I asked why the promoted
officers placed in cash counter- where else they can be placed. Itwas before 30
years. Now things are different. With in adequatestaff strength, how the bank
functions can be seen how the  junior managers doing things with multitasking.
They deal at leastthree customers at a time.

I used to complete work in myresidence computer  and take back infloppies to
offices. Pendrives were not there while I was in service

Q2         Mahabharata (Hindu epic):Why did Krishna offer to take only 5
villages from Kauravas to end theconflict? Why did Durayodhan refuse?

A2          Hari Guduru-I have adecent knowledge of world history. Mon

So, I have done a small analysis on Google maps on what might have beengoing on
in Sri Krishna`s and Pandavas minds when they asked for 5 villages aspart of
the failed negotiations with Duryodhana. This might have already been analyzed
byacademicians and Historians but I just want to throw in my analysis. Also the
villages might be disputed by learned people but like I said, I havetaken what
was available in google and tried to draw my analysis.

The 5 villages asked by SriKrishna were (used the present-day terms for these
villages) – 1. Panipat 2.Sonipat 3. Baghpat 4. Indraprastha 5. Tilpat. Please
refer the image for anyinputs.

If you look at the map from Hastinapur perspective, all the 5 villagesare
arranged almost in a linear fashion. And out of the 5 villages, onlyBaghpat is
towards Hastinapur side of River Yamuna while the rest of the 4villages are on
the other side of river Yamuna.

Interestingly, Baghpat lies at the midpoint of the 5 villages and
almostequidistant from the farthest villages i.e., Tilpat and Panipat i.e.,
55Kms.

Therefore, it is strategically placed. The Pandavas caneasily launch an
offensive against Kauravas. While the rest of the 4 villages on the other
sideof Yamuna have the advantage of the river as a Natural barrier which can
beused for Defence. Moreover, having an offensive at Baghpat means less movement
of Troops and resources.

The distance between the 2 farthest villages i.e., Panipat and Tilpat is110Km
and the distance between each of them to Hastinapur is almost the samei.e.,
101-102 Km almost making it an isosceles triangle. Therefore, the timetaken by
Kauravas to attack any of these both villages will almost be the same.Pandavas
can thereforeprepare for any attacks well in time and also the time taken for
the troops tomove from the farthest village will also be the same as Kauravas.

This will effectively mean that Duryodhana cannot attack Pandavas
withoutsuffering heavy collateral damage. It might because of this strategic
reason he would have declined SriKrishna`s proposal.

Q3         Should you tell yourdoctor you’re getting a second opinion before
you get it or should you justwait to see if it’s different than their diagnosis?

A3          John Fotheringham MD inMedicine and Healthcare, Queen's University
at Kingston (Graduated 2005)14m ago

I don't even care if a patientswitches to a different doctor. If they are doing
that then it is just whatthey need to do to feel comfortable.

Some people just match with other people's communication style better. Also
people sometimes just don't want to hear what you need to tell them andthey
often need to do that to accept their diagnosis. It's all fine with me

Q4         Are we as humans immuneto smallpox or is smallpox gone so it doesn’t
matter?

A4          Mats Andersson Translator(1991–present)Sun

We are not immune to smallpox.

I was one of the last in Europe to get vaccinated, in 1974, as this was
arequirement to enter the US. The vaccination should have lost its effect bynow.

Fortunately, smallpox onlyexists as lab specimens—one in the US and one in
Russia.

Q5         What are some interestingfacts about the Wright brothers?

A5          Rob Milford Marketing(1994–present)Mon

It was the worst aircraft ever built. It flew only one day, totalling less than
a mile, and crashed.

Orville was a regular visitor to Wright Field for the balance of hislife, and
stayed abreast of the latest technology, with pilots eager to meetHim, show off
their planes, and even get their pilots licenses or logbookssigned.*

I’ve held his gold pocket watch, which weighs more than a pound and fillsthe
palm of your hand. It was an awesome experience.

*Side note: An acquaintance, a retired airline pilot met Orville atWright
field, got both those autographs. He later flew for Eastern Airlineswhen Eddie
Rickenbaker was the CEO, who was replaced a bit later by FrankBorman. So he
shook hands with the first man to fly, the greatest Americanfighter pilot of
WW1, and the first man to fly to the moon.

Q6         Does Hinduism reject theexistence of souls?

A6          Rami Sivan Priest,Dharma teacher, counsellor, Gov. Advisor
(1998–present) Tue

Depends on how you define“soul”. The Abrahamics havevarious vague and ambiguous
ideas about what they mean - breath of life, spiritual essence, a person etc.
and it is always identified as a possession which only human bodieshave.

So while animals have life and sentience they do not have souls. Neither the
Bible nor the Quran give a cleardefinition or understanding of the soul or Self
and the theological ideas theyespouse today are based on Aristotelian and
Platonic ideas.

In Hinduism the closestconcept, but far more expansive and inclusive is
jīvātman or SELF. It can be defined as “a point of perceptualawareness”. The
chief characteristic of the jīvātman is consciousness. In other words
whateveris conscious or possess some form of knowledge, however contracted that
may be.IS a jīvātman.

SO all sentient beings are jīvātmans which temporarily possess variousbodies
through which they have a world experience, and which they discard at the end
oftheir sojourn on earth and transfer to the next body in accordance with
theirKarma.

So the primary identification of the Abrahamics is with the body whichthey
believe IS the person and that after death the corpses will be reanimatedand be
judged, and then proceed to their terminal destinations which will beeither
heaven of hell - all in their newly resurrected bodies - so presumablyit will
all be happening here on planet earth.

In the Dharmic philosophy theprimarily identification is with the atman (the
conscious self) and the body is simply a vehicle made up of sixelements:
oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus -
whichdisintegrates after death andthe atoms return to the universe to be
recycled.

This is one of the major irreconcilable differences between the Dharmicand
Abrahamic world views — Self-identity.

Q7         If you feed an ATMcounterfeit bills, will the bank find out?

A7          Steven Haddock Studiedat York University (Canada) May 22

So naive. You will never get that far.

Do you think that ATM manufacturers would willingly put a machine on the
marketthat would fall for a counterfeit note?

Heck, most vending machines have anti-counterfeiting technology.

Put a counterfeit in and it will reject it (along with genuine bills thatare
beat up).

How ATMs recognize counterfeit money? | Vector Magnets News

How does paper money anti-counterfeit? The paper which used is specialthat does
not contain any bleach. There is also a watermark, magnetic microtext and
magnetic stripes onthe paper. Banknote inks will use fluorescent ink, optical
color-changingink and magnetic ink to print different parts of banknotes at the
same time. The mint also uses a number of high-end precision printing processes
to preventcounterfeiting.

A banking machine is muchbetter than detecting counterfeits than most store
clerks. For example:

If the whole bill shines under ultraviolet light, it was most likelyprinted on
bleached paper. Reject.

The real fluorescence on a bill has a specific wavelength and location. Not
there? Reject.

No metallic strip? There’s a magnet in the machine. If it finds nothing, reject.

No metallic ink? Magnet. Reject.

Q8         I am working as an SBI JAand got a BOI PO in the IBPS PO 2020.
Should I make a move or stay?

A8          Saurabh Dwivedi DeputyManager at State Bank of India (SBI)Sun

Stay in SBI.

Privatisation - While we maynot know the future of SBI interms of
privatisation, BOI would be one of the first to getprivatised. Work culture
might change thorougly making it difficult foryou to adapt.

Career growth - SBI has one ofthe best promotion policies inPSBs. Promotions
are quick, transparent and timely. To be true, almost alleligble officers are
promoted from scale -1 to scale -2 after completion of 3years. So even with SBI
JA, you will be scale 2 in the same time as throughBOI-PO.

Transfer policy- SBI has nointer circle transfer policy(without request) till
the rank of scale -4. So if you have got your homecircle, you can continue
there for atleast 15 years even after takingpromotions. Other PSBs transfer
officers frequently to different states whichdoes hamper their quality of life.

SBI JA might give you some freetime to prepare for others exams mainly UPSC or
RBI grade- B if you wanna try.

SBI posted a net profit of Rs 6451 crore for 2020–21, Q4 results, an 81%rise in
the Year on year(YOY) net profit.

The ship is cruising at amazing speeds and looks unsinkable in the nearfuture,
stay and enjoy your ride here.

Q9         How does Tamil Nadu givemany freebies and yet be strong economically?

A9          KanthaswamyBalasubramaniam Lawyer Sun

What are these Freebies?Lets take a Single example.

TN Decides to give 25 Lakh Tablets for Free to Children. Each Tablet issold for
a Price of Rs. 3600/- , so the Total Amount spent by Govt of TamilNadu is Rs.
900 Crore

This Rs. 900 Crore - Goes tothe Manufacturers of the Tablets, the Distributors
of these Tablets and inshort create Stimulus, these Manufacturers pay
theirEmployees and generate Paychecks. Big Contracts mean more Bonuses which
meansmore purchasing power. Thismeans the Money will return to the economy and
circulate.

Meanwhile the Government spends Taxpayer Money to buy the Tablets. So its as if
the Taxpayers havepurchased Tablets for the 25 Lakh Kids in Tamilnadu in the
process creating anEconomic Stimulus

And TN Has tremendous Taxes because TN - Both DMK and ADMK are very good and
fair when it comesto Industry and so Industries flourish and Taxes flourish
which is used formore economic stimulus.

Now the Taxpayer is also benefited. By Giving him Power Subsidies- The Taxpayer
gains on hiselectricity bills, water bills , property taxes etc. Thus ensuring
the Taxpayerhas some preservation of Disposable Income.

This leaves the TNEB etc with Huge Debts but the TNEB is owned by theState
Government and has sole authority for Power Distribution (TANGEDCOActually)
with a huge grid network. The Debts owed by TNEB can be wiped out in10 seconds,
if TNEB floats 9% Shares to the Public as on date.

One day thats what TN Govt will do - eventually bringing the Debt back tothe
People and completing the Circle

Everything is the same - Free Mixies, Washing Machines, Gold, Sarees -etc
everything generates Stimulus

Giving relief to Bus Fares forWomen will also generate extra disposable income
for the women and the Loss to the Bus Corporation can easily beadjusted someday
by simply offloading some ownership back to the public.

However Farm Loan Waivers, PDS etc are all Black holes which areunproductive
but luckily they are becoming lesser and lesser.

my note- this is a lawyer’s  view

Q10       Did Vaishyas and Shudrasalso fight in the Mahabharata War?

A10        Preeti AHave read variousversions of Mahabharata, A fan of VyasaTue

Men from all castes fought in the Mahabharata War.

The war was fought by warriors (soldiers, generals and kings). However all the
warriors werenot Kshatriya.Drona Kripacharya and Ashwatthama and several other
warriors wereBrahmins

Bhishma, Kekaya Kings (there were 10, 5 fought on Pandavas side and their5
cousins on Kourava side), Karnaand his sons and adoptive brothers were Suta
(inter-caste varna of Brahminmother and Kshatriya father). Karna addresses his
own charioteer as Sutaso he might have been one too.

Yuyutsu was another inter-caste(kshtriaya father Vaishyamother) brother of
Kouravas who fought on the Pandava side.

Eklavya's son fought in theside of Kouravas along withMagadha army he was
Nishada(a caste lower than Shudra)

Bhima's charioteer who died in the war was Visoka (He was a Malla a castelower
than Shudra)

Kritaverma's army consisted of warriors who were earlier cowherds. (Theywere
Vaishya community)

Satyaki's army consisted on Vrishni Yadava who were traders too
(Vaishyacommunity)

There were vedic liberals led by Shalya of Madra (As in followed vedicreligion
but caste was a matter of choice for them. It was matrilineal kingdom)as weRe
Bahlika both on the Kourava side.

There were non vedicmercenaries (warriors on hire) called Prabhadraka who came
from lands beyondPahlawa (modern day Iran) they fought on Pandavas side andwere
led by Shikhandi

Mahabharata war was looked at as opportunity to prove a warriors
martialprowess. So anyone who was a trained warrior joined in on either side.

And as the above details show martial training and opportunities toshowcase it
was not restricted to Kshatriya it was available to all Varna.
