Q1              What is a cantilevered floor?

A1              Wezza EngStudied at CivilEngineering (Graduated 2021)Updated
July 25

Usually it is ahard solution for the structural engineer and uneconomic too but
let tell metell you some about it .

That is consideredone of most famous cantlivers nowadays .

The cantliver slab is the slab which is supportedby one support , the bending
moment is too highso the thickness becomes big to stay safe under loads and to
resist deflectionwhich will be the most critical issue in this case like in
this photo the onlysupport is this far away wall no side supports which make
the slab looks unsafe forordinary people but as civil engineer , it is designed
for this so it is safe .

Q2              How does osmosis take up water?

A2              ELOCOTECHN INFO , studied atOxford, Oxfordshire, UK Answered 2h

Water moves acrosscell membranes by diffusion, in a process known as osmosis.
Osmosis refers specifically tothe movement of water across a semipermeable
membrane, with thesolvent (water, for example) moving from an area of low
solute (dissolvedmaterial) concentration to an area of high solute
concentration.

Q3              How do you extend the life span ofcar tires?

A3              Bridgestone India December 9, 2020

The tyres are considered consumable componentswhich wear out as per the usage.
However, there are certainconditions which make tyre wear faster. Any force of
tyres which is additionalto pure rolling forces make them wear faster. Sudden
acceleration and braking, frequent sharp cornering, driving on winding roads and
in hilly areas are someof the reasons which accelerate the rate of tyre wear.
If the wheel alignmentgets out of specification, inflation pressure is too high
or too low, tyres areout of balance or the wear rate is aggravated.

To extend the life span of tyres, it is important todrive properly as well as
regularly maintain the tyres and thevehicle. Key maintenance of tyres are
maintaining correct inflation pressure, wheel alignment, tyre rotation and wheel
balancing.

Inflation Pressure- Inflation pressure plays an importantrole in tyre
performance including impact on tyre wear. Always maintaininflation pressure
recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Low tyre pressureresults in both side
shoulder wear and high air pressure results in centrewear. Therefore, it is
important to maintain the correct inflation pressure inthe tyres. Always check
inflation pressure at least once every month and beforegoing for long trips.
Proper inflation pressure not only increases tyre lifebut also results in good
handling, comfort and safety, including fuel efficiency. The OE recommended
pressure for your car tyres can be checked on driver sidedoor jamb.

Wheel Alignment- Proper wheel alignment is essential toavoid uneven wears on
your tyres. Wheel Alignment should be done as recommendedby the OEM or whenever
any irregular wear or pulling is observed. This helps inoptimising driving
stability, maximizes tyre life and improves overall vehiclehandling performance.

Tyre Rotation- Wear rate varies between different tyrepositions. To even out
the wear in each tyre and among the whole set of tyres,it is recommended to do
tyre rotation as per recommendations by OEM. This helpsto have even out the
irregular wear and thus extending the life of your cartyres.

Wheel Balancing- An unbalanced wheel may causevibration to the vehicle as well
as results in uneven tyre wear. It isrecommended to balance the tyre rim
assembly along with tyre rotation or whenvibrations are felt. Proper wheel
balancing helps in reducing uneven wearthereby extending the tyre life.

By following gooddriving habits, proper care and maintenance we can increase
the life span ofcar tyres. What also helps is to park the car away from direct
sunlight or heatsources.

Q4              What tradition do you wish to passon to your children?

A4              Bhuvana Rameshwar Tamil cultureand heritage Sun

In our family we have a tradition of celebrating“Varalakshmi Pooja “at home.
This is a do it at homePooja. We women fast on this day and instead of
pictures, photos or idols wekeep a “kalasam”

Kalasam is apersonification of goddess lakshmi. Here we pray to Lakshmi in all
her 8 formsand ask her for boons..which includes health, wealth, knowledge ,
bravery,agricultural abundance etc

The kalasam in ourhouse is made of a silver pot. This is washed, decorated with
turmeric pasteand kumkum, then filled with clean water. On that we keep a
coconut. This isplaced on rice grains spread on a banana leaf. The pot has a
stick tied to itat the back to hold flower garlands.

On the coconutsside facing us we place a goddess mask and adorn her with a silk
skirt andshawl. She personifies goddess of knowledge, bravery and wealth. Then
jewelsadorned and beautiful flowers are arranged on the kalasam . This is
ourgoddess. She visits us annually.

We make sweets andsavouries like athirasams, murukku, vadai and other sweets. I
made almond katlitoo this year. This is offered to our goddess with fruits.
Only after the pooja, we break our fast. We invite women from our neighbourhood
home to seekblessings of our dear goddess, who has come home.

Almond katli Athirasam,ribbon murukku, vadais..

We honour each ladywith Kumkum and turmeric and give them a bag of gifts of a
new blouse piece, coconut, flowers,, sweets, fruits, bangles, betel leaves and a
ten rupee notewith a one rupee coin.

Then we tie thenonbu thread on our wrist with blessings from our mil or other
elder ladies.

This tradition waspassed on to me by mother in law. She taught me to do this
Pooja. Earlier wewere doing it all together in the joint family in my fil.mil's
house .But whenthey shifted to their sons’ houses in old age , she taught me to
do it . Only amil can hand it over to her dil! So next I must hand it over to
my dil. This is an important “women”festival for us women in Karnataka, Tamil
Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana andMaharashtra.

Q5              As a middle class citizen ofIndia, do you prefer to have a
brutally lavish wedding or a simplesophisticated wedding?

A5              Gopalkrishna Vishwanath Weddedjust once but I've lost count of
the number of weddings I've attended.8h ago

(120 words. 45 seconds to read)As amiddle-class person, I would like to shower
brutally lavish affection on asimple and sophisticated wife after a short
religious ceremony at a temple, followed by a visit to the local Registrar’s
office, witnessed only by thefamily and a few trusted friends or relatives
followed by a simple partyattended by not more than 50 guests.

I would also request all guests to avoid giving mematerial gifts and instead
request their attendance and goodwishes from friends and blessings from elders.

But, who willlisten? Don’t you know Indians? Sigh!

Q6              Sleeper coaches are locked insideby passengers at night. If you
are a reservation passenger to board dead of thenight how do you get it open
when passenger sleeping, windows, doors slammedshut & usually TTE are totally
absent?

A6              Answered by Subhasis Dutta RoyUpdated Sat

Do you observe achart on the hand of TTE? It looks like this.

Here in this imageofan on-duty TTE while he is checking the ticket and verify
with the list ofpassengers hold his hand.

That is the totallist of passengers of certain coaches where he is booked for
duty. He knows all the details ofpassengers where any passenger will board or
end his journey with his train.

The doors arelocked from inside. It is for the safety of passengers. But TTE
knows very well wheresomeone has a booking for his train and in which
compartment through his chart.

He must open the doorand grants the entrance of the legal passenger from that
station.

For anyinconvenience, any passenger can ask help from the guard of that train.

My note- What is told is theoretically   correct answer. Nowadays aTTE is
allotted more than one coach. If at all a TTE keep open the door andgoes to
next coach, there would be a crow eyed passenger, not getting sleep,
immediately close the door.

Often passengersget in to any coach open irrespective of class. By the time TTE
reach theguard, the train would have departed the station!!!

Q7              What do you do if you have no workall day and no social media?

A7              Bhuvana Rameshwar married forthree decades 12h ago

We went to Nandihills top., near Bangalore. Stayed in KSTDC Hotel. They neither
had WiFi in theroom nor was Bsnl signal strong. So there we had no use of the
phone other thanas a camera.

So we went out ofthe room, using the phone only for taking photographs. We
walked through thenatural forest turned into protected gardens. It was so
beautiful. The morningmist and drizzle was mind blowing with leaves still wet
and fresh from previousnights rainfall.

There were allkinds of plants from beautiful spotted weeds to old big trees all
in one place. We saw sunrise, went to a 1000 year old temple (the Yoga
nandeeshwara temple),saw the sunset, the panaromuc valley view from the height
of around 1500 m.

We, husband and me,talked as two young friends , sat amidst nature. Fed
monkeys. For once it waswithout , one or both of us browsing the phone. It was
such a relief, a senseof freedom and suddenly time was surplus yet flying away.
Life is beautifulwithout phone and net.

A8              Subramaniam DuraisamyIT AnalystAugust 19

Onion Samosas

You can get thesein any railway station in India for Rs. 5. Atleast in Chennai,
when I used thelocal train travel back from my office , I used to buy 4–5 of
these littllesamosas right on the platform and munch them on my way back to
home . Hardlycosts Rs. 20.

Funfact from history- Onion samosas are not native toIndia. Atleast not the
samosas we eat in Chennai. The original name isSambusak, which was brought into
India by traders from Central Asia. Sambusaksallong with Irani chai was a
morning breakfast item and a tea time snack.

The original Sambusaks are much flatter than the onionsamosas which has larger
quantity of stuffing.

For a city/town/village waste management we require a secluded area to dump
