Pranam
Let mosquitoes take care of pranayama. Now what aquestion being asked?
"Q16 Why, in Hinduism, do people light a lamp and rotate it in front of a
person's head? What is the purpose of that?

A16 Swarnali Chatterjee Yokota Former Teacher for 32 Years September 30

*Arti is illumination, removes darkness.*

Arti is done for many purpose, for elders as respect, for deities as
prayer, for new possession ( car or house) as hope, for guests as welcome,
to younger to remove darkness and negativity and give blessings. The
symbolism seems to be lost on you.

Lighting a lamp and rotate? aha; this is what Hinduism teaches
the lady and the producer. Arathi @ arti is the form of Agni which is the
root of the life of any space. The first word is only hatred as AGNImeele
purohitam. Arathi is the final completion of a sankya. I first see in Rig
vedam 1.4.5, 1.39.5, 1.54.1 as mentioned whose pad proyogam is as under:

arati : *(f.) *non-attachment; aversion. || ārati (f.), abstinence; leaving
off.

Ārati (आरति) refers to:—The ceremony of offering a deity articles of
worship, such as incense, lamp, flowers and fan, accompanied by chanting
and bell-ringing. (*cf*. Glossary page from Bhajana-Rahasya
<https://www.wisdomlib.org/hinduism/book/bhajana-rahasya>).

Hence the significance of the Arati can be deduced from above as an act
of non attachment worship and writing it as lighting a lamp and rotate is
ignorance. K R IRS 111021
