and stored in my computer. At this date I have noinformation of the members 
posted.

Being compilation there may be  errors. I am emphasising once again these 
areinformation posted very early by LEARNT members...

One member SriRajarm Krishnamuthy responds to all my posting  and blame me for 
some wrong answers according to him. 


But he hasso far not made a single posting.

Q1 What is sathya narayanapooja?

A1Satya Narayan is the Narayan form of Lord Vishnu. The Lord in this form is    
considered an embodiment of truth. 

Satyanarayanais worshipped    commonly by    Hindus in their homes with family 
andfriends, usually on a full moon  (purnima) day of the month. 


 In this puja called Satyanarayana Pooja,    people worship by reciting the 
graciousstory of Lord Satyanarayana. 

This    story was originally told by Lord Vishnuhimself to the sage    Narada 
for    the benefit of humankind.

Thispuja is conducted to ensure abundance in ones life. Many people    carry   
out this puja immediately after or along with an auspiciousoccasion    like a   
 marriage or moving into a new house or anyother success in life 


Performingthis puja in the    evening    is considered more appropriate. On the 
dayof the puja, the devotee    has to    fast. 


Q2 Do Sleep, fear,sex and food are equal for all creatures ?

A 2As per garudapurana 2.49.53 "Sleep, fear, sex and food are equal for all 
creatures. 

He who possesses knowledge is a man and he who is without knowledge isan 
animal. [eating, sleeping, mating, defending] 

Q3 Which  are seven places of pilgrimage can grantrelease?

A3 As per garuda purana.2.49.114 "Ayodhya, Mathura, Maya[Mayapura], Kasi, 
Kanci, Avantika Puri and Dvaravati [Dvaraka] - these sevenplaces of pilgrimage 
can grant release.

Q4 Which is the mostimportant purana?

A4 As per garuda purana itself 3.1.43 "In the Kali age, only threeprincipal 
Puranas are devoted to Visnu. 

Among these theBhagavata Purana renders more good to the people.

3.1.46 "The Visnu Purana comes next, then comes Garuda. The threeare principal 
Puranas in the Kali age. Garuda contains some additional matter

3.1.64 "...Bhagavata is the best of all Puranas."

deity of sattva guna. As the consort of Krsna, the sonof Nanda, she is called 
Kanyaka.

3.16.9-10 "As the goddess of earth, the presiding deity of rajas,she is the 
consort of Boar. As the presiding deity of the Vedas, she isAnnapurna. As the 
consort of Narayana, she is Laksmi, the unborn.

Rudra.Is it correct?

A7 Yes Garuda purana  3.18.21 states"Suka, the son of Vyasa, who had been 
influenced by Vayu, was theincarnation of Rudra.

3.18.23 "Born of Drona,Asvatthama wasRudra himself. He was born to reap the 
fruits of the seeds of his actions sownin former births [22 - as Durvasa] and 
to illumine (by contrast) the virtues ofhis enemy. 

Q8 Can rate bequoted for reciting Bhagavatha?

A8 Garuda purana  3.20.34"Those who recite Bhagavata Purana out of greed for 
riches or those who know but donot reveal the secret of the Bhagavata go to 
Yama's abode.

3.20.35-37 "Those who create interest in Dharma and Karma Kandasbut not in the 
BrahmaKanda and those who recite the Purana by accepting fee go to Yama's 
abode. 

Those alone are worthy of recital who remain satisfied with whatevermoney is 
offered willingly by devotees. 

3.20.38 "Those who areextremely greedy of wealth have no right to recite this 
Purana.

Kalindi, too. 

A daughter was bornto Vivasvat of the solar race. O lord of birds, she was 
Kalindi, also known asYamuna, the daughter of sun. 

She practiced penance with a desire to obtain Lord Krsna for herhusband. I 
spoke to my friend Arjuna. 3.21.29 "O friend, approach themaiden immediately 
and ask her about the purpose of her penance.

3.21.32 "I married her just to favor her, but not for My pleasure.(...)

Q10 Can a personwear chappals while on pilgrimage? Can he take a salagram with 
him?

A10 Garuda purana  3.21.33"Listen, I am going to tell a great secret. There is 
nothing that thepreceptor will not disclose to his disciple."

3.23.23 "If onegoes on pilgrimage on foot let him takethe Salagrama stone with 
him. Such a person obtains full fruits of hispilgrimage. If he wears shoes 
orprotects his feet, he derives the fruit of his pilgrimage less by one fourth.

3.26.92 "One shoulddonate the holy stone of salagrama to a brahmana well versed 
in the Vedas. 

The gift of salagrama destroys all sins, even those accruing from theslaughter 
of a brahmana.

A16 Garuda purana  3.28.75 "[LordKrsna said:] In this body two organs are the 
strongest of all. They are two ears and two eyes.

The two are interrelated. O lord of birds, I shall tell you the realnature of 
the two.

3.28.76 "Earsare prone to hearing gossips and enjoying them with pleasure. 

They are naturally averse to hearing the ambrosial tale of Lord Visnu.They have 
twofold nature: dullness and control. 

3.28.77 "Eyesare prone to gaze at men and women. 

Excessive doting takes away sleep. They are averse to seeing thedevotees and 
their worship of the Lord.

3.28.79 "Neithermen nor women nor ascetics have any dread or shame in this

Men can copulate even with their sisters,  that too at the day time, just as 
the priestsdo with the women at the Soma sacrifice.

A17  Garuda purana  3.29.5 "Ganga is so called because shepurifies the world by 
her waters. The devotees call her Visnupadi out ofdevotion for her.

3.29.6 "Formerly, she forced her way out of the nails of the leftfoot of Visnu 
whose symbol is sacrifice. In the beginning she broke through theupper part of 
the cosmic egg.

Q18 Who were all theincarnations of Shyamala?

A18 Garuda purana  3.29.16"(...) The wife of Yama is Syamala. Sheis also the 
wife of Kali.

One should never stay even for a moment, for association with theinmates of 
that house will lead to misery. 

3.12.74-75 "Neglecting the holy fig-tree, devoid of boughs, thosewho pay 
respects to the holy basil plant less than two months old or a youngcow that 
has not delivered - should be declared asuras.

Q20 Who is Bhairava?

A20 In Banaras and inthe mythology of Vaishno Devîin Kashmir, Bhairava appears 
as the guardian of the Goddess. 

Bhairava, the terrifying aspect of Çiva, is the god of transgression par 
excellence,for he appears only to cut off the head of Brahmâ,brahmanicide being 
the most heinous crime in the Hindu tradition.[1][6]

Brahmâ refused to recognize the supremacy of Çiva, who therefore created 
Bhairava and ordered him to decapitate Brahmâ, promising him in return 
eternalsuzerainty over his city of Kâçî(Vârânasî, Banaras), the cremation 
ground of theHindu universe, where final emancipation is assured to all.
