spiritual effulgence tothe world.” 

Thefour Vedas assumed the form of the hills at Tirukkalikunram according to 
thebehests of Lold Siva. Hence the significant name Vedagiri. 

Indays long gone by there lived two brothers. The elder brother was a devotee 
ofLord Siva. The younger worshipped Sakti. They began to fight on one occasion 
asto the relative superiority of the deities. 

Lord Siva Himself appeared andtold them that He and Sakti were equal and 
co-ordinate and that they should notquarrel in future. 

Butthe brothers continued their quarrel. Siva cursed them to become vultures. 

Thetwo-brothers fell at the feet of Lord Siva in true repentance. Lord Siva 
promised themsalvation at the end of the Kali Yuga. The two Rishis were born 
asvultures named Adi and Sambu. They daily visit the sacred hill to worship 
Sivaand are fed. 

My note- A decade back or so , thevultures  are not visiting the temple. 
Probably onaccount this vedas  have common items.
