Q1            Howdoes the thickness of a wire increase then resistance
increases or decreases?

A1            GopalaKrishnan, former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004at
Department of Telecom (1966-2004) Answered just now

In two conditionsthickness of wire is increased. One is increase of current.
Second is lowvoltage high current transmission. Best conductors are Gold,
Silver and Copper. On account of this in certain application these materials are
used in contactareas.

Aluminium is amedium conductor. Comparatively cost is less and twisted
aluminium wire over aniron wire is used to conduct High voltage electric
current from one place toanother through tower lines. If these wires snap
immediately current isautomatically cut. Copper, silver etc are subjected to
frequent theft. GOLD,cannot be used at all.

Q2            Ifthe planets in our solar system are held by the gravity of the
sun, then whichgravitational force is holding the sun in its position and
preventing it frommoving or falling away?

A2            GeorgeFergus Studied Electronics & Physics (Graduated1968)Tue

The Sun is not motionless. It moves in orbit aroundthe center of the Galaxy at
a speed of 250 km/s, over 8 times faster than theEarth moves in its orbit
around the Sun. The Sun appears relatively motionlessto us because its gravity
drags the Earth and the other planets along with itaround the Galaxy, just as
the Earth and the other planets drag their moonsalong with them around the Sun.

However, our Sun as it orbits the Galaxy alsooscillates up and down, since the
gravitationalmass of the Galaxy is shaped as a flat disc, rather than a single
centralpoint.

Q5            Whatpurpose do metal horseshoes nailed to horses' hooves serve?

A5            ClaireJordanWed

They protect the hooves of horses who do a lot ofwork on hard surfaces such as
human roads.Without them the hoof would become too worn down, causing painful
pressure onthe sole of the foot.

They can be used tocorrect various problems - they can prevent a damaged hoof
from splitting, andprovide orthopaedic support and correction for a horse who
would otherwise stepawkwardly. Iirc shoes with small studs underneath at the
back can also be usedto provide better gripon slippery surfaces.

Q9            Whathappens if we just eat vegetables, no fruit, no grain, no
meat, and no fat?

A9            FrankHollis A real biochemist who has studied B12 indepth. Oct 30

You die.And it is a slow, painful, humiliating death.Atfirst you will start to
feel more lethargic. You’ll be more clumsy. Your memorywill start getting poor.
You’ll put it all down to getting older.

After a few more years you’ll be so fatiguedthat it will be difficult to walk
aroundthe supermarket. You’ll need to lean on the basket. You’ll need to make a
listof things you need, otherwise you’ll forget most things. You may need
helpgetting the shopping into the house.

You’ll do stupid things, like putting your timer intothe oven. Or your glasses
in the fridge. You’ll find yourself out somewhere, with no idea where you’re
supposed to be going and need to phone somebody toask them where you were
supposed to be.

This is the stage I got to.

If I hadn’t got treatment I’d have found itexhausting to walk from my bed to
the toilet. But that wouldn’t matter because I would have lost control of my
bladder andbowels. Slowly my mind would stop functioning. Followed in a few
weeks by mybody.

This is what can happen if you have a B12deficiency. Mine was cause by
PerniciousAnaemia. But a pure vegan diet will have the same effect, because B12
can onlybe found in foods of an animal origin.

That’s why vegans need artificial B12, insupplements or fortified foods.

Q9            Whyare most of the rivers of South India east flowing?

A9            TitusD'silva Tue

This is because the rivers in South India are locatedon the Deccan Plateau
which is a eastern tilting Plateau.

It is however nottrue that all rivers in South India flow eastwards. There are
a number of rivers originating in theWestern Ghatswhich flow westwards towards
the Arabian Sea. These rivers are fed by thewater-laden winds blowing from the
Arabian Sea(which are caught by the WesternGhats). These are shortrivers since
the distance between the Western Ghatsand sea is short. As such since theydon't
feed a large population they are not that well known.

Most of the riversin Peninsular India originate in the Western Ghats, both the
west heading onesand the east heading ones. As can be seen in the above
topography sketch, theWestern Ghats are taller, more continuous and more
consistent than the EasternGhats so it makes sense that almost all rivers in
South India originate inthese Ghats.

OYO Life (2019-2020)AnsweredJun 19, 2020

“Follow me”mode is actually a mode that comes in HITACHI airconditioner. But
its not just restricted to HITACHI air conditioners and most of the otherbrands
have this same feature in other names. For example in BLUESTAR it iscalled as
i-Feel mode.

So the main purpose of this mode is directing theflow of the chilled air from
aircon towards you.But there is a difference in technology with respect to
BLUESTAR and HITACHI.

I am not sure aboutthe HITACHI ACs that come today because everything has
changed right from thepricing and the brand which owns it (today HITACHI is a
part of JOHNSONCONTROLS). But i am speaking about times when the brand AMTREX
was changed intoHITACHI.

HITACHI used tocome a premium price and FOLLOW ME was launched as a series
under HITACHI ACportfoilio. It used to use a Human sensor which actually
detects the presenceof a Human being and directs the chilled air towards them.
If i could recallthe advertisement that used to telecasted in TV showing a maid
towards whom theair is directed and it is ultimately preventing from sweeping
the room. KUDOSto the creativity.

This was prettymuch attractive in those days and it was eventually made as a
common feature inmost of the air-conditioners that come today. Bluestar’s
I-Feel is very muchsimilar to FOLLOW ME but only difference is that a sensor is
placed in theremote of the aircon. Whenever i-Feel is turned on and the remote
is placednext to you, you can find the chilled air from the aircon is directed
towards you.Thisfeature was basically used to up-market the product in its
initial days whichlater become the “new normal”. This practise is very common
in electronics andconsumer durables industry.
