BEING  A COMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1            Myselfand my sister are nominees for fixed deposits in a
nationalised bank separatelyby our deceased father. Why is the bank asking for
an indemnity bond for theclaim?

A1            KanthaswamyBalasubramaniam Lawyer20h

Oh its Routine!!! Don’t worry toomuch

This is just in case after paying you your money - your Fathermiraculously
returns back and demands his FD money plus interest back from theBank - then
they can recover the same from you and your sister. Its just a formality

Q2            Whichtype of Indian railway train seat is better, 1A or 3A?

A2            Nikhil Jain MarketingOfficer at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
Ltd. (ONGC) (2020–present)Oct 9

I generally travel in AC 3-tier coaches of Indian Railways. However, on acouple
of occasions, I have travelled in AC First Class (1A) as well, particularly
during peak Covid waves.

Based on my experience, there are some differences that I have notedbetween
these two AC classes.

AC first class has 4 or 2 berths per compartment. A compartment with fourberths
is called a cabin, and a compartment with two berths is called a coupe. There is
no middle berth in AC first class. On the other hand, AC 3-tier is asleeper
coach with AC.

Each AC first-class compartment has a separate door that can be lockedfrom
inside. It offers comfort and privacy to travellers. In AC 3-tier, it isnot
there.

Due to the lack of a middle berth in AC first class, it is less crowdedand more
spacious. Berths of AC first class are slightly wider than that of
AC3-tier.Each AC First Class coach has one attendant assigned to it. There is
nosuch facility in AC tier-3 coach.AC First Class ticket costs almost 2.5
timesthe ticket of AC 3-tier.

So, which is better? In termsof comfort, safety, and privacy, AC first class
isbetter. In terms ofcomfort and cost-effectiveness, AC 3-tier is better.

Q3            Whatis the most important quality of a father?

A3            Ramadevi Gidugu FormerSelf Employed, Full Time Mother.10h

He should learn not to tolerate tantrums of his family members. Yes.
Irepeat.Should come out of patriarchal mind set. Should not feel entire family
responsibilities are onhis shoulders.

Indian family system would tolerate if mother doesn't earn but
punishes, heckles, blames, taunts father if he does’t perform.

No doubt ,there are number of fathers who behave irresponsible, escapefrom them
duties. Also true that many more fathers are suffering their entirelife
carrying the entire family on their shoulders. Suffering beyond theircapacity.
Crushed to pulp.

Father is not an ATM. But, unfortunately he is considered same. For anyproblem
first question he faces from wife is, “if you can't do atleast this much why
you marriedme!!??!

I wonder, ‘Did he kidnap and married his wife?’

This question is rarely asked to the wife.’ why you married me?

Most probably she bluffs curtly, ‘I was not interested! my dad forced me to
marry you !!(Rarely mom forces her!!) I should have married so and so capable
fellow.

Just if same words come from him, it creates third world war. Life longtaunts
he has to face from her.Don't think I am supporting men and hate women.I
support who ever and whatever is right. I don't care which gender they
belongto. I give importance to ‘what is right than who is right'.

Often, mother, wife, sisters, daughters every female members expect so much from
father. He is conditioned such a way he should take theresponsibility of the
entire family from his childhood. Mom's health andwishes, wife's ambitions,
aspirations and work, daughters education andmarriages, son's education etc
everything his responsibility only. No one bothers about his life and his
wishes and desires.

Even children ask sometimes ,if you can't provide why you gave birth tous??

I know many fathers who aresilently suffering. Theycan't even cry and express.
They are conditioned like that. Tears indicateweakness, indicate their
vulnerability they feel. They can't express theirinability. Pain.

My grandmother used to tell.

Father is like a snake. He should hiss atleast in between though doesn'tbite.
Otherwise, women of the house, who are projected as weak, voiceless ants, would
kill him within no time.

I didn't understand at that time, thought, a man! So happy life. Need notask
anyone's permission for anything. Can go anywhere, can live whatever way
hewants. What problem they face?

Now after seeing people aroundme, I understood men's life is also not that
easy. They too face tension, under go stress, feel pressure from family
toperform. This angle is just ignored.

The most important quality heshould have is, talking truth to his wife and
children.

Should learn to Live in reality. Should accept, if it is his beyond capacity,it
is. No need to feel ego. He should encourage every family memberto participate
and contribute in his life. He should learn to say ‘no' if it's becoming too
much.

Now, I am dealing with a man called ‘Rishi’ from Gorakhpur. Working underme as
a carpenter. He thinks twice to drink even a tea. He should save money forhis
younger sister's’ marriage. Mom phones and reminds him constantly. Hehimself 30
years old but no one cares. His already married sister sends a listto him. He
should buy those before going back. He was so scared, skipped goinghome for
Deepavali festival. His girl friend got married last year afterwaiting for six
years. His responsibilities are never ending. Now mom wants asmall house for
her!!

When he was telling all these with a dry smile, I felt really horrible
inheart.Patriarchal, matriarchal, it may be any system, you can't target
onegender. I know life is not fair to everyone.

What we can try is to get less affected, less suffered as much aspossible.

I am not interested in telling humans how to live. There are hundreds
ofadvisers, thousands of books, lakhs of motivating channels and people.

I just tell how to not live the taxing situations. Important quality?Only one
thing.

You too Just live life like every one. Learn to enjoy your life too. If you
consider yourself as headof the family, use other parts of the family (body)
also as active as possible.Your life is not just valuable , it's precious also
like your wife andchildren.

Q4            What’sthe strangest condiment you’ve seen someone put on their
food that didn’tbelong?

A4            Hannah Baty Cooks andstudied nutrition as a hobby for many
years.Updated Fri

A Cuban man introduced me to the curious practice of putting salt on
watermelon. It was such a strange application for salt that my first thought was
that therewas something wrong with his sense of taste, my second thought being
that hedidn't know what watermelon was and how it should be eaten.

But when I inquired, he told me that it was common practice among Cubansto salt
watermelon, and he encouraged me to give it a try. So I did.It wasn't bad.I
still prefer my watermelon unsalted, but it didn't taste as
bizarrelyunpalatable as I expected it would: It was a pleasant, sweet-salty
combinationthat accentuated the sweetness of the melon.

(A sprinkling of salt probably also enhances the rehydration value ofwatermelon
by replenishing the sodium lost from the body throughperspiration---sort of
like natural Gatorade.)

Probably the second strangest use of a familiar condiment that I've triedwas
adding peanut butterto oatmeal, which I learned from a woman from Oregon who
would fix herdaughter's oatmeal that way.

Besides being a surprisingly tasty complement to the maple and brown
sugarflavor of the oatmeal and adding a delightful creaminess, peanut
butterfortifies the cereal with additional vitamins and with protein and
healthysaturated and unsaturated fats which increase its satiety factor and
sustainingpower. If you like peanut butter and oatmeal separately, try combining
themsometime for a tasty treat. (I recommend adding an ice cube or two
ofevaporated milk also, for extra richness and creaminess.)

Q5            Whatwas the purpose of bed curtains in Victorian times?

A5    Brent Cooper Trial andappellate counsel for Cooper & Scully
(1993–present)Dec 12

Canopied beds served several purposes. Canopy beds have been in Chinasince as
early as the 4th century and those older versions were made withbrocade silk.

When they came into use in Europe,it was for privacy. Medievalnoble families
slept in the great hall of their castle, and most of theirservants slept in the
hall with them. Canopy curtains went up to create a handy sense ofprivacy—a
sort of “cozy room within a room.”

A second reason was for warmth. Castles were cold and drafty, which meant
thecurtains also added a much needed extra layer of warmth.

A third reason was forprotection. The high posts weremade to hold a top frame
that could be covered in fabric or netting. Many houseshad thatched roofs and
the top canopy protected the occupants from any bugsthat might drop from the
roof.

The final reason was to preventdisease. Night air wasbelieved to be unhealthy,
so the beds had both a cover and side curtains tokeep out diseases of the
night. However, by the 1800s, canopies kept outinsects but not air. Eventually
the side curtains were removed except intropical areas with massive bug
problems.

Q6            Howdo you know if something is decomposed?

A decomposition reaction iscomplete when the mass of the container and its
contents no longer changes onheating. You cool thecontainer and and determine
the mass of the container + contents. Then you heatsome more and repeat the
cooling and weighing.

When a dead body breaks down and eventually some of its partsdisintegrate into
the earth, this is an example of a time when the bodydecomposes. When you cause
something to rot or break down, this is an exampleof a time when you decompose
the item.

Decomposition is the first stagein the recycling of nutrients that have been
used by an organism (plant oranimal) to build its body. Itis the process
whereby the dead tissues break down and are converted intosimpler organic forms.

Q7            Ifthere were no ants, would there be random piles of dirt in
random places? Whatdo ants do?

A7            Ken Saladin Emeritusprofessor of biology Oct 31

Thanks, ants!

Without ants, soil quality wouldsuffer, to the significant detriment
ofagriculture, gardening, and landscaping. Soil fertility would declinebecause
it would no longer receive the important admixture of organic matterthat ants
continually carry down into it. Ants are vitally important in soil aeration and
turnover.Plant roots need air and water, and these necessities get to them
largely byway of the tunnels that ants dig. So I suppose without ants, a lot of
plants would die, includingones we depend on for fruits, vegetables, and forage
for livestock. Ants areimportant for plant seed dispersal and, in effect, plant
a lot of vegetation bytaking seeds down into the soil; plants wouldn’t be able
to propagate andspread over the terrain as well. By planting their seeds, ants
are especiallyimportant in helping plants get established in relatively barren
soil.

Dead and decaying plant and animal matter might pile up, includingmanure. Ants
are a lotfaster at disposing of that stuff than bacteria and mold. So
withoutants, you might expect the landscape to be more littered with animal
feces, dead vegetation, and carcasses ranging in size from other insects to
midsizedbirds and mammals to even large mammals. And there might be more
carcasses tostart with, because a lot of animals they rely on ants as part of
their dietmight perish, ranging from woodpeckers to bears and (of course)
anteaters.

Pest insects, including agricultural and garden pests, might thrivebecause
there’d no longer be any ants, their chief predators, to control them. Without
ants, farmers, gardeners, and agricultural corporations might have to use a lot
more chemicalpesticides, further contaminating our soil and water.

In the opinion of someauthorities, if all the ants died out, the human species
would die out too; wecouldn’t live without them.

All the ants in the world, by the way, are estimatedto weigh as much as all the
humans, or more.

Q8            Whatare the notable differences between 6.2 kg and 7.5 kg top
load fully automaticwashing machine?

A8            1st answer- AnjaliMathur Answered Jul 3, 2020

It’s all about the capacity of your washing machine the larger washing machine
the morequantity of clothes you’ll be able to wash in a single go. I too
wasconfused when I was in process for the research for my new washing machine
when I wassearching one. Then I got to know that it doesn’t make much
difference in caseof my requirement and I purchased the smaller one. LG is one
of themost prominent brands available in market. You can go ahead and purchase
awashing machine according to your requirement from there.

2nd answer- Rajan Chandna, works at IFB Industries AnsweredApr 28, 2020

With Bigger load capacity you canwash more cloth compare to less capacity
Machine

Same time one has to keep in mind - Different dresses / Trousers / shirts/bed
sheet of same size will have a different weight due to type of materialNet
material dress or Curtain would be less in weight but volume would be more,So
capacity in real senseis combination of weight & volume of the cloth.Machine
should be loaded up to 3/4 or little more to get the bestresult from the
machine.

Product features may vary according to the models & price.Buy awashing which
are suitable for Indian conditions , have feature which canactive water to
dissolve the detergent. Have a better understanding of Indiancondition.

For a family of 4–6 Members family if they do not use very heavy bedsheets /
heavy blanket then 6 Kg capacity machine is good enough however in case heavy
curtains/ heavy bed covers then in-between 7kg–8kgwashing would be suitable.

Before taking in mind -one has to keep in mind the location also -Example in
Delhi/ Shimla ( winter time ) Then one should choose the big capacity machine.

Most important ifbudget is constrain - one can buy the small size machine can
do multiplewashing Cycles

Q9            Whatare some inventions whose inventors regret having invented
them?

A9            Sangram Sagar Dec 1

USB was created to make iteasier to plug one device into another. But still
today, we have to try 2 or 3 times before inserting our USBkey in the right
direction. Ajay Bhatt, its creator, told a conference that atthe base, USB
should bereversible. But this was not for because of a too-small budget, then
headded that he regretted not having been able to go to the end of his
invention.

Tim Berners-Lee, the maininventor of the World Wide Web (WWW) said in 2009 at a
scientific congress that one of his biggest regretswas that a double slash
afterthe HTTP in the web address (//) n actually has no interest.

If you are complaining that passwords have to be created with upper case, lower
case, and special characters, Bill Burr is the place to be. Pressed byhis
leadership and the US government, he wrote a baseless report in 2003 thatsaid a
password with these 3criteria was secure. He later apologized because in
reality, what matters is the number ofcharacters used.
