Q1           Howlong does an air conditioner last and/or when should I replace
my AC?

A1           2 Answers Lindsey Sandford Answered22h ago

Todaythey are expected to last 10-15 years or more if they have been maintained
well.If not maintained the life expectancy is much less. Also, depends on the
regionof the country it is in as well. Nature’s elements.

2ndanswer Wayne Wyche Answered 20h ago

Most have a factory warranty of a specificamount of years. You can check your
serial # online at any factory’s websitefor that amount of years. Beyondthat
warranty period, people tend to keep their A/C units (outside ones) forabout 10
years or longer. I have had ones last both shorter andlonger dependent upon the
brand with the cheapest units provided by the homebuilder lasting the shortest
amount of time. Generally, I have only replacedthose when the main compressor
failed. Good luck.

Mynote- Most AC units  require major  repairs after 5 years.Parts also may
become obsolete by 7 years.

Q3           Whatare some smart traveling hacks while travelling with Indian
railways?

A3           HarshilShukla Kid with some experiences...🙂 Sat

Alwayskeep an extra water bottle with you…. (well as we all know there are some
stops whichare just for 2–3 minutes and during that we can’t get down of the
train andfill our bottle so that’s you have to carry at least 2 water bottle
withyourself)

Alwayscarry power banks….(coz sometimes we need to charge our electronic
gadgets butwe can’t find a place for our adapter to plugin as there are many
people sothey also need that switch to charge their devices so yeah power bank
is imp.)

Neverget into an unnecessary argument……(coz during journeys we should just
enjoy themoment, but getting involved into an unnecessary argument can spoil
thejourney, so beware of that.)

Alwayshave a convo. with your co-passengers….(as it will help you to improve
yourcommunication skills and it will also make your journey short.😁)

Create a playlist and download all yourfav. songs…(as during train journey if
you don’t want to socialize then you canjust plug in your earphones and listen
to your fav. song it is another kind offun you can do..)

Q4           Sincethe human brain consumes the most energy out of all organs,
should we allow forit to have more resting periods?

A4           KenSaladin Textbook author and professor emeritus Updated Mon

Oddly enough—much to my surprise uponlearning this—the brain consumes more
energy when we’re sleepingthan it does when we’re awake.

Thebrain attends to more tasks when we’re asleep that we realize. One of these
is“taking out the trash,” disposing of or recycling metabolites (such
asadenosine) that have accumulated during the day.

Neuroscientists have justrecently discovered a system in the brain call the
glymphatic system, sort of a pulsating sewer system that appears to flush
metabolic wastes fromthe brain into the lymphatic system during sleep. Not only
does this seemsto flush out metabolites, but it also may serve as a way for the
immune systemto check up on the brain and monitor anything that may be going
wrong.

Anothertask in the sleeping hours is memory consolidation; “editing”
short-termmemories of things that happened during the day when it was
receivinga flood of sensory information and creating longer-term memories of
what wasmore important. Thehippocampus “tutors” the memory regions of the
neocortex during sleep, establishing longer memories than the fleeting memories
of the day, likeremembering a doctor’s appointment you made the previous day,
or a movie youwatched, more than what you ate for lunch or what shirt you wore.
This is presumably why we become unconscious during sleep—to steminformation
input so the brain can process what’s already there and sort outthe important
from the trivial.

There’sstill much we don’t know about the functions of sleep and dreaming. What
wedon’t know probably vastly exceeds what we do know so far. But we do know the
brain is very, very busy while we’re asleep. It’s not resting but doing many
vitalmaintenance tasks that are more effectively done when we’re not getting
newsensory input or moving our bodies much.

Figuratively speaking, as we get sleepyand nod off, the brain is telling the
sense organs and muscles, “Shut up! Stopmoving! I’ve got important work to do,
and you’re keeping me from doing it. Go to bed and letme get to it. I’ll see
you in the morning. We’ll talk then.”

Q5           Whathappens when you eat papaya everyday?Q5

A5           Healthcar Space Answered byRenee Dec 20

You have probably heard of the healthbenefits of papaya. The tropical fruit is
high in fiber and vitamin C and hasbeen shown to have beneficial effects on
digestion and the immune system. Butdid you know that eatingpapaya every day
can also have a positive impact on your skin?

When the fruit is juiced, it yields ajuice rich in vitamin C and bioflavonoids,
and these antioxidants help yourbody in so many ways. Vitamins C and E promote
healthy skin and help it to staythat way, and these antioxidants help ward off
signs of aging. Eating papayacan also help you to maintain a healthy complexion
for your entire life. Thefruit contains papain, a natural enzyme that helps get
rid of dead skin cells.

Q6           Ifyou accidentally keep an outside light on, and the bulb of which
has died, willit still jack up your electric bill?

A6           LoringChien electrical engineer and audiophile for 45 yearsUpdated
23h

Itdepends.

Incandescentscan be relied on to waste more power when on, but when they go
bad, they can berelied upon to draw no power. Basically any failure results in
abroken filament so no current passes.

LEDs and CFLs are tricky, they are aelectronics system in a bulb. power supply,
drivers, and LED array. Failure of a single component in one section can still
leave the bulbdrawing power even if dark. So yeah, possibly they can dissipate
powerand run up your bill a little when gone bad. Usually less than when
working butstill using power. Replace or remove when they appear not to work.

“Jacking up” would be a bit of anexaggeration. The one I measured used about a
watt. In a month (720 hours,24/7) it would have jacked up my energy cost by 7
cents. I have a photoelectricswitch that uses more energy than that.

Mynote- LED equipments draw power though defective is a new information to me

Q8           Whyare house prices in America drastically cheaper than in England?

A8           IanChamberlain Updated Dec 26

Britishhouses are built of bricks and mortar and not pieces of wood. Our roofs
arecovered in tiles, usually slate or something very similar. Our
plumbingsystems mean we don't have to heat our water up in a boiler anymore. We
havethree pin plugs and an electrical system that is far safer than anywhere
elsein the world. Our cavity walls are insulated. Our roofs are insulated so
thereis miniscule heat loss. Our foundations are concrete and our plumbing
systemsmean we don't have to rely on a cesspit to store our crap. We don't use
bottledgas unless the house is so far out into the countryside it isn't viable.
Our country is geographicallysmaller than America so it is possible our land
prices are more expensive. Our houses are good and people live in homes that are
hundreds of years oldwithout problems.

Our newer homes have under floorheating, solar panels and some are that well
insulated the bills are tiny. Wehave houses that have woodburners but these are
genuinely old houses that a lotof Americans seem to try copying.I worked in the
construction industry for manyyears and would be happy to buy a home knowing it
is well built and will notneed maintenance for several hundred years. Thats
quality.

Q9           Whatfacts about Sri Lanka do foreigners not believe until they
come to Sri Lanka?

A9           ShyamakshiGhosh A techie by brains and a traveller by heart!
Updated Sat

SriLanka is very clean. The hygiene standards of common people is higher than
othercountries I’ve been to including my home country India.

Thereis a hand wash culture among the locals. The first thing you will notice
on entering aresort or restaurant is a hand wash basin. The locals use it
frequently. Infact at the entrance of a super store I found a wash basin. Those
not washinghands were provided hand sanitizer.

Onecan see no litter in public places and tourist places.

Also in COVID times, I see locals puttingon their masks religiously. Our driver
said that the fine in Colombo area is10000 LKR. But even in smaller towns and
villages, people are wearing masks. Infact the foreign travellers are violating
by not wearing masks but not thelocals.

Also, the public awareness campaign of Sugar and its harmful impact is very
strong. The local drinks have sugar level marked for common man to understand
suchas Medium Sugar Level.

The tea sugar sachets have warningssimilar to cigarette packets.

If you mean fully powered rather thangliding flight and a definite long, fleshy
tail, rather than a nub withfeathers on it, batshave tails, albeit short ones,
and dragonflies and damselflies have very longtails. Some of the early
pterosaurs also had very long tails.
