Q1 Why do many South Indian ladies wearwhite flowers in her hair backside? A1 Pratima Gedela Mon Women wearing flowers on theirhead is a common sight in India, especially in South India. Flowers are applied extensively in most worship processes in the Hinduway, including worship of Divine mother goddess. According to us wearing jasmine flowers is a part of our South Indianculture. We usually wear it on auspicious occasions. And it is compulsory to wearjasmine for married women on such occasions. Jasmine flowers are also used in weddings, festivals and templeofferings. But other than jasmine, it is a practice to put rose, marigold, hibiscuson hair too. Different Flowers Every flower has a different meaning attached to it. Here are a fewflowers which are usually worn by women. Jasmine: Jasmine is known asthe queen of flowers becauseof its breathtaking fragrance. It is also called the God's own flower as nofestival is deemed complete without using jasmine flowers. It is a mark ofprosperity and good luck. It’s my favourite flower too 😜 Rose: Rose is the symbol oflove and passion. It is also amark of mourning for loved ones. So, a girl wearing rose on hair may symboliseher passion in life or the memory of a lost one. Hibiscus: It is the symbol ofstrength since hibiscus is usedin the worship of Goddess Kali and other forms of Shakti. Hence, Wearing flowers in not only a way to beautify but also a mark ofwell- being of family. My note- For reasons not known tome, a person wearinghibiscus is considered mentallydisturbed in Tamilnadu. In Kerala as Prasad from Devi temples we gethibiscus petals and men usually keep in ear and ladies wear on head. Q2 How does it feel to argue with yourlife partner? A2 Bhuvana Rameshwarmarried for three decades 11h Arguing with your spouse? I used to do that often earlier but sometimesit is used to be of a different level. Simple ones don't spoil my day becausewe had jobs to keep us busy. Most of the time I am right OR I think so based onmy experience. But sometimes they are of a high grade. Some sentences spoken by him outof anger hurt me emotionally to a deeper level. That's when it squeezes ourself confidence the most. It felt like a wound too painful that cannot beexpressed or a tear so big that cannot come out but blocks my eyes . It was aenergy- drainer that keeps hitting if the mind is idle. But these were common in thefirst ten to fifteen years of married life. They were adjustment issues or something to with people around, relatives. Most got solved or forgotten with a sorry or an explanation. Ofcourse I used to temporarily feel very depressed after such argumentsor any absurd accusations. , as if there is nobody for me in this world . I'mall alone on this earth. Like nobody loves me etc. ***Because a husband's space cannot be filledby anybody not even parents or children. But we soon made up and thingsbecame fine. But some of those words got embedded somewhere deep in my heart(or mind in think). Nowadays I don’t get hurt that much. I have become thick skinned or moreevolved as a person. I just move away to a different room or don't reply to anyof his stupid arguments or accusations. I have become calmer. May be it is myage and experience or something to do with my BP tablets which keeps my adrenalinein control. I prefer to spend my energy on my hobbies rather than arguing witha person who is deaf to answers and unreasonable, even if it is my own, lovinghusband of many decades. My note- A line all women have tounderstand.Similarly, all husbands have to understand- a wife’s space cannot be filled by anybody not evenparents or children Q3 How long can I run my AC without afilter? A3 Natraj. D, Car, Bike,Electrical (Repairs & maintenance) advisor Answered 2h ago Never run the AC without a filter mesh since the dust and dirt will getin clogging the cooling coil making it unusable after some time. The filteracts as a protection to the cooling coil. My note- When the proper size offilter was not available I had to use my AC with torn out filter for monthstogether. Something is better than nothing. Q4 As an Indian, which state do yourespect the most (don't include your state)? A4 Surya Kiran Tiruvuri APolyglot Tue I love Karnataka the most. I haveheard many people from Hyderabadwho settled in Bengaluru saying that they love Bengaluru more than Hyderabad. I have been to Bengaluru for a few months. Visited many places inBengaluru. I have also been to Chikamagalur, srirangapatna for a few days. InBangalore I have seen some people giving you choices of languages to pick :Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and reply you in that language . That was a bitsurprising. There are some places where even at midnight 2:00 you will beseeing a lot of people gathering during weekends. In Bengaluru I have seen a Telugu movie with Teluguaudio in theatre and that is something very rare thing that will happen inother states for Indian languages(excluding Hindi). So overall Karnataka is a fantastic place which many non natives preferto live. Other than Karnataka I have been to Chennai and Maharashtra long agofor short visits. In Chennai I only remember visiting Sarvanan Bhavan andMarine Beach. That too was a fantastic place but didn't spend much time there.Other than these I haveheard about Kerala being wonderful place to visit from many people but nevervisited Kerala. So, so far it is Karnataka. However irrespective of which state you liveit is the people's friendliness, memories and other factors that make you likeplaces. So Hyderabad willbe always fantastic place for me. Q5 Is it safe to eat a banana flower? A6 Harsh V Ashok Studiedat Manipal Institute Of Technology (MIT)Updated Dec 29 There's one such very famoustemple which has no foundation is Brihadeeswara temple dedicated to lord shiva located at Thanjavur. Thistemple is symbol of chola power and was built by Rajaraja chola in between1003–1010 AD and was named as Rajarajeshwaram temple (The temple of iswara ofRajaraja). This site is also part of UNESCO world heritage site. This temple made of granite has the tallest Vimana (tower) among templesin India with 16 storeys and height of more than 200ft. There's no bindingmaterial (such as plaster) used for construction. A masterpiece ofarchitectural imagination where work was carried out on a grand scale withweight load evenly distributed among pillars and beams. On the top of thismassive temple lies a shikhara (dome) of around 90tonnes weight. There's aninteresting story behind placing this heavy shikhara on the top of templetower. A 4km long incline path was bulit to enable it to be rolled over to thetop of temple, later the path was dismantled. There might be other templeswithout foundation but sadly I'm not much aware about them. My note- Authority for answeris not checked- “Brahadiswaratemple has no foundation”. Q7 Whencementing tile, why do people add rows to the cement instead of just leaving itsmooth? A7 Bob Edwards Dec 28 You mean like this… The grooves add ‘tooth’to the tile adhesion. The cement squirms intoall of the grooves in the tile back and air can escape leaving no voids. Thenotches are of various sizes depending on the type of tile and cement you areusing. The notches govern the depth of cement applied far more accurately thanyou could with a plain trowel giving a level floor or wall. Q8 Why should a home undergo apre-construction termite treatment? A10 Sangram Sagar Dec 28 See, if you bring any bank, then a contract is signed between you and the bank, inwhich it is written that in case of robbery, theft, fire, or any disaster inthe bank, there will be no responsibility of the bank. Whatever the customer keeps in the locker is his responsibility. Thereason for this is that the bank does not have any information about what youhave kept in the locker. The bank does not know whether you have kept 10 rupeesor 100 lakhs or something else in it. So how can the bank guarantee the contents of yourlocker in case of any emergency? However, banks are very careful about the safety of their lockers. Thebank will take every step that is necessary to protect your locker. Banks keepalarmed, CCTV, sensor, guard, etc. And mishaps can happen anywhere. If the bankalso earns money from the locker, then it itself would like that the preciousbelongings of the customer should be safe. The customer has the right to ask the bank what arrangements have beenmade by the bank for their security. Which company do the lockers belong to? So your luggage is safe in the locker, but in case of emergency and robbery, the bank will notgive you anything because in this situation it does not take any responsibilityfor your belongings. Q12 Why are there so many North Indiansmigrating/living in the South but there hardly any or close to 0 South Indiansin the North India? A12 KanthaswamyBalasubramaniam Lawyer Jul 13 At 6 Pm take a walk around LakeMarket in Kolkata. It will be like you are in Tamilnadu You will get Udupi Restaurants, Tamil magazines, Southern Spices, IdliFlour, Even a Tamil Movie Theatre. You have a Rajini Fan Club numbering 80,000People registered there. Likewise Matunga , Anushakti Nagar,Chembur, Borivalihave so many South Indians thats its impossible to travel a single daywithout hearing Tamil, Telugu, Kannada (Rare) or Malayalam in the BEST or LocalTrains And Delhi is another place.Just visit RK Puram and theCentral Govt Flats will have many many South Indians working in the GOI invarious pay grades. So thereare many South Indians in the North From1950–1990 - GOI was the largest employer in Indiaand their base was almost entirely in the North, East and West and hence therewas mass migration from the South to the North. Likewise since Construction andDevelopment was mainly Mumbai - Migrants flocked to Mumbai from the South >From 2000s - IT and Service andInsurance sector is thelargest employer and >since their base is almost entirely in the South (Hyd Blr Chennai), thereis >mass migration from North to South. Today South is where a lot ofConstruction and Development takes place , hence mass migration from North and North east to the South. So today a lot of Young North Indians can be found in Bangalore, Chennaior Hyderabad but its rarer to see Young South Indians in Delhi or Mumbai WithGurgaon and other areas slowly becoming Centres - the trend will change prettysoon.
