 8. Origin of the river -Kaveri.

Once sageAgasthia was travelling towards South India. He transformed his wife
LOPAMUDRA in to water, and poured in Kamandalu and was carrying her holding in
the hand. Lopamudra desiredalways to become a river. So she had no objection
for transforming her intowater.

When itwas about sunset, sage kept Kamandalu on a rock, went to a small pond
near it to perform sandhya.

Lord Ganesha took the form of a crow. He came near the kamandalu. He tilted
it. Through the spout waterstarted flowing like a river. This is the legend
about the origin of riverKaveri.

 9. Lord Saturn  and the crow.

Lord Saturnholds a crow in his hand. It is told to feed crows as a remedial
measure toward off any ill effects occurring during Saturn’s period or Saturn’s
subperiod.

It isgood to feed crows. It is good to give them water to drink. Water in a
small potcan be kept on terrace over parapet wall; it can be kept on compound
wall orany other convenient location, where they could easily access. Many days
I hadseen the crow’s drinking water falling from outlet of O/H tank.
Withoutswitching OFF motor, I continue falling of water, till they fly off
afterdrinking water.

Beforecorona, when crows appeared more in the morning, I used to keep large
biscuitpieces and water on compound wall. Most crows dipped biscuit bits in
water andate. Now half the bits remains and eaten by ants. Crow is told as
representingpithrus.

 10. Crows and cawing

In the pastwhile crows cawed, it was usual to say an indication of guests
arriving or getting some letters. 70% this was correct at that time.

Nowadays  also I  hear crows caw in the early morning. Afterwardsthey are
mostly silenttill evening. Evening again they caw while going to nests. If I
was awaken andsimply lying in bed, I too used to get up and start my posting
works to groupshearing the cawing of crows in the morning.

A lot ofcrows cawing   together mean something serious has occurredto one
among them. Mostly we could see a crow lying dead fallen from electricallines.

Whilefinding good food, they caw a few times   nowadays.  Mostly they also
would have changed theirpattern of living. The crows like eatables like salt
biscuits , pappads, vadaetc. if we keep rice and biscuit  bits crows will first
consume  biscuitsand not rice.

Furtherthey estimate the quantity, caw once or twice only if the quantity is
less.Silently as in a queue, they take biscuit bits and fly. Some take two in
the mouth,if they were hungrier.

The abovetold way of eating was before the Covid 19 began.

11. Kakka kan (Alert eyes)

The eyesof the crows will suitably rotate to see everywhere. The crow is said
to bevery vigil. Persons more vigil are said to be having eyes similar to crow.

12. kakkayutae svabhavam (Behaviour of crows)

The crowwill not show intimacy or attachment with humans. There are some
people, notbad, but would not show any intimacy.

13. Kakka karumbi.

Thecolour of most crows is black. When a girl is black complexioned she is
told  as kakka karumbi.

14. Papads  drying

Whiledrying  eatables like pappads, if we keepa black umbrella or hang a black
cloth, crows do not come to eat it . Probably thecrows may be taking the cloth
as a harmed crow. Exceptions are also there.

15. Kakka kuli. (Hurried bathing)

It hasgot two meanings- one is taking bath in a hurried manner. If anybody
finishbath hurriedly it is often told as kakka kuli.

There isa belief -  We should not watch  the crow-taking bath.
In-auspiciousinformation  may come if we watch  crow taking bath . It is not
seeing, but watching.

16. Crow flying over the head.

Normallycrows would fly at a height well above our height. But sometimes, it so
happen, they may fly around a person without leaving him. I have read elsewhere,
oneman used to wear helmet where ever he go to escape from crow hitting the
head.

I had an experienceof this type about a decade back. If I went to nearby park
for morning walk, acrow might fly close to me. I felt some times its leg
touched my head,  and wings  moved above me. It got repeated next day
also.Without making trials, I stopped going to park for morning walk .

The crownormally flies straight. Hence many times straight direction is told as
crow flying direction.

Crow willtake rest after flying for certain distance. Sometimes it is told as
crowflying distance.

I will continue in next posting
