Pranam Q1 A third nipple (also called supernumerary nipples, in the case of multiple nipples) is a condition in which you have one or more extra nipples on your body. This is in addition to the two typical nipples on the breasts. The third nipple, or the presence of multiple nipples, is also known as polymastia or polythelia. It’s not certain how many have this condition. According to the Genetic and Rare Diseases Information Center (GARD) <https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/2259/supernumerary-nipple#explanation>, it is a rare condition. It’s estimated that about 200,000 Americans have one or more extra nipples (less than half a percent of people in the United States). They’re also more common in men than in women. While a third nipple is the most common number of extra nipples people with this condition have, it’s possible to have up to eight supernumerary nipples. Charles Darwin, who considered adaptivity in his 1794 book Zoonomia; Or, the Laws of Organic Life <https://www.gutenberg.org/files/15707/15707-h/15707-h.htm>, an early treatise on evolution. As far as he could see, all animal traits seem to have evolved toward greater utility, with one exception: “The breasts and teats of all male quadrupeds, to which no use can now be assigned.” But he is untrue. The answer was published long ago in the newspaper Guardian. The nipples appear along the two vertical "milk lines <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_line>", which start in the armpit on each side, run down through the typical nipples and end at the groin. They are classified into eight levels of completeness from a simple patch of hair to a milk-baring breast <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breast> in miniature. KR IRS 19122
