Q1 Which vegetableprovides the most folic acid? A1 Lucia Garcia Workedat Hospitals Sun Folic acid, also known asvitamin B9, which is awater-soluble vitamin and an essential vitamin for the body. Folic acid is not just a nutritional supplement for pregnant women. Folicacid is also a very important vitamin for everyone. The most important function offolic acid is to help make red blood cells and white blood cells and enhanceimmune function. Therefore, folic acid is also known as "hematopoietic vitamin". Folic acid supports healthy cell division and promotes normal growth anddevelopment of the fetus, and a lack of folic acid increases the risk of fetalmalformations. Getting enough folic acid is especially important for pregnant women. In general, pregnant women need4 times more folic acid than the average person. The human body cannot synthesize folic acid, so it can only be obtainedfrom food or supplements. Top 5 Vegetable Highest in FolicAcid (amount of folic acid in 100 g) Pumpkin: 267 mcg Cabbage: 240 mcg Spinach: 210 mcg Broccoli: 210 mcg Asparagus: 190 mcg Q2 Were the Chineseoriginally black skinned? Q3 If one eye seesbetter than the other eye, is it possible that the brain does privilege thesignals from the better eye and restrict the other one? A3 Ken Saladin Textbookauthor and professor emeritus 21h That’s how I feel. I had another eye exam just yesterday. I havequite good right-eye vision, but cataracts and much less visual resolution onthe left. With both eyes open (and glasses), though, my overall vision isvery satisfactory—as in reading distant road signs like getting into thecorrect lane for a highway exit, or looking for a certain street sign. My weaker left eye doesn’t seemto interfere at all. (I don’t use glasses for reading, onlineactivity, or other close work.) Q4 What is the meaningof the Kannada inscription written on Bahubali statue in Shravanabelagola,Hassan district, Karnataka? A4 Karthik Bharadwaj Livedin Bengaluru, Karnataka, IndiaUpdated Sun There are many inscriptions on Bahubali (Gommateshwara) statue itself. Ibelieve question is asked for this inscription. Here in the above picture, there are inscriptions on both side on lord Bahubali feet which consist of fivelines totally. Linguistsidentify that these five line inscriptions was written in Three languages ofIndia. The right side inscription of the Bahubali foot consists of Kannada andTamizh (probably) languages and the left side inscription of Bahubali feetconsists of Prakrit language. First two lines of the right foot (L1: Kannadaand L2: Tamizh) were to be inscribed first. And the other three lines (two onthe left foot (L4 & L5) and the last line on right foot L3) was inscribedlittle later, i.e on Early Kalyani Chalukya period. So it is basically a trilingual inscription. These inscription basically acted as a sign boards or info boards to thedevotees who visited famous Bahubali statue in Sravanabelagola. -> KANNADA INSCRIPTION Kannada inscription hereconsists of two lines and it states like this. Transliteration: L1: Śrī cāmuṇḍarāja māḍisida L3: śrī gaṅgarāja suttālayavaṁ māḍisida Translation: L1: Made by Sri Chamundaraja L3: The outer wall was made byGanga raja So these two lines were written in Old Kannada script. Where first linebelongs to Western Ganga period Kannada script and the third line belongs toWestern Chalukya (Kalyani) period script. And here the man who built the statuewas Chamundaraja (popularly known as “Chavundaraya” in kannada). He served asarmy general in Western Ganga kingdom in 940 to 989 CE. And he was also one ofthe greatest Kannada poet of that period. -> TAMIZH INSCRIPTION Tamizh inscription here is written in mixed letters of Grantha andVattezhuttu script. So it is quite difficult to assume the letters. So itstates as L2: ஸ்ரீசாமூண்டராஜன் சேவ(ய)பட்டது Transliteration: L2: Srī cāmūṇḍarājaṉ cēyavapaṭṭadu I'm not sure about the third word “cēyavapaṭṭadu” whether it is the correct or not. But in wholeit gives the meaning that the structure was made by Chamundaraja(Tamizh/Malayalam people please correct me if I'm wrong). -> PRAKRIT INSCRIPTION (Marathi/Konkani) The Prakrit inscription here is scribed in Nagari script (ProbablyNandinagari script). And it states like this. L4: श्री चावुण्डराजें कर वियलें L5: श्री गंगराजें सुत्ताले कर वियलें Transliteration: L4: Śrī cāvuṇḍarājeṁ kara viyaleṁ L5: śrī gaṅgārājeṁ suttāle kara viyaleṁ So here due to the words “rājeṁ”, “viyaleṁ” it was considered to be of Southern Prakrit. Andhere we can also see the Kannada influence on this Prakrit. We can see the word“suttāleṁ”which means surrounding structure. This word derives from the Kannada word “ಸುೞ್ತ/Suzhta" or “ಸುತ್ತಾ/Sutta" which literally mean encircle orencircled in Kannada. We can find the same word in following Kannadainscription. So there is debate going on to which language it is of. Many people andlinguists of Maharashtra consider it to be early form of Marathi whereas otherlinguists, Konkani speakers of Goa and Karnataka consider it to be Konkaniinscription. This inscription shows the early evolution of modern Prakrits ofMarathi and Konkani. And it is a very important inscription for linguisticstudies. References: Chavundaraya – Wikipedia Q5 How many capitalsdoes Japan have? A5 hiaki WatanabeBornand raised in Japan Sun Zero. A6 Ashok Pandey Managerat CyberMedia India (company) (2014–present)Dec 2 When you compare cartridge and ink tank printers, surely both work onsimilar technology, but with a small but significant difference. In cartridge printers, theprint head is directly connected while in ink tanks, a separate cable connectsthe print head to the color tank system. This expansion isexpensive, and the head is developed differently so the cost increases. A9 Dinesh Binjola Livesin Delhi NCR Jan 15 No city is Punjab has thepopulation density to support a costly metro rail system. Anyone thinking otherwise may look at the fate of metro rails in thecities like Jaipur. Even Delhi Metro is running inlosses, despite huge network and polutaion / demand. In near future, such demand may arise from the urban conglomerate ofChandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Jirakpur, Dera Bassi, Chandi Mandir Cantt, Pinjore,Kalka, etc. In fact, the railways shouldstart running EMUs (like theone in the image below) from Ambala to various destinations like Chandigarh,Mohali, Panchkula, PInjore, Kalka, etc. Note : 2 friends have posted comments sayng that Delhi Metro is not inlosses. Sadly, they are mistaken. Delhi Metro was in losses even before thelockdown…… As may be seen in the report, the DMRC incurred net loss of Rs 462 crorein FY 2018–2019. Next year, in FY 2019–2020, the net loss increased to Rs 541crore. If you have the patience, and if you know how to read a balance sheet, then see this link. Q10 Do British people addcream and sugar to their tea? A10 Claire Jordan Degreein biology and folklore; programmer, shop owner, secretary on newspaper Jan 15 Not *cream* - that sounds utterlydisgusting. The whole point oftea is that it has a clean, refreshing, non-sickly taste. The only thing likethat in the UK is a specific drink called builders’ tea, which is tea madeextremely strong with condensed milk and a lot of sugar, to fortify workmen whoare working outside on cold days. Normally British tea (and thisalways means black tea, unless otherwise specified) is made with milk or just drunk black. A fewpeople drink it black with a dash of lemon juice. Some people add a little sugar or artificial sweetener,to cut the tannin taste. Q11 Does flushing lesssave water? A11 Gopala Krishnan, former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004 at Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answered just now When I built my home in India, Chennai, the closet was provided with twobuttons, one for flushing after urinating and both flushing after passingmotion. Later due to damage in the porcelain closet, the closet was replaced, with a single handlefibre make. But recently septic tank became full, after emptying septic tank when water was pouredthey found blocks obstructing the flow of water. It was removed intwo locations. They asked to pour much more water after use. The charges for removing blockwas double of emptying the tank. So saving water may create blocksand heavy payment for removing blocks Q12 Where do dark skinnedIndians come from? A12 ((|)) Follow BirdwatchingWed Dark skin among Indians comesfrom earliest migration from Africa that took place over 60, 000 years ago. This group is called South AsianHunter Gatherer (SAHG) or Ancient Ancestral South Indian (AASI ). This was a coastal migration andhence was more focused in coastal India (mainly South India). After this, therewas another migration from Zagreb mountains in Iran. This was Caucasoid migration. Thesepeople had light brown skin tone. Iranian Zoroastrian are closest modernrepresentation of this group. This is the dominant admixture of both SouthIndians and North Indians. Then a third major migrationhappened of Steppe pastoralists. These people were closely linked with IranianHunter Gatherer (laterfarmer) from Zagreb. What made it different is that this group had also EasternEuropean Hunter Gatherer mixed it with (around 50%). South Indians have fewer Steppe genes and more SAHG genes than NorthIndians in general. Therefore, the cline of light skin runs North to South. East India has additional admixtures from South East Asia but the sourceof dark skin remains SAHG in all Indians (including Pakistanis and Afghans) invarying degrees. SAHG genes are found as north as Tajikistan and as West asEastern Iran. All the above QA are from Quora website on 20-01- 2022. Compiled and posted by R.
