Q1Whatis kankana bandhana ?

A1 It is surprising but true that thispractice was not in vogue in ancient days 
in Hindu weddings. The "Grhyasutras" ( laws of domestic rituals) do not 
mentionthe mangalsutra but only a "kankana bandhana". The kankanabandhana or 
protective cord was worn by the couple to protect them from allkinds of 
pollution before the samvesana (consummation). 

Q2 Who are the five peoples like one’s father?

A2According to the Shastras, the one who has been responsible for the body, 
theone who gives ‘upadesa’ of the Gayathri Mantra, the one who feeds, the one 
whoimparts education and the one who imparts Jnana —these five people are like 
one’s father 

Q3 Do the musical instrumentVeena is related to divinity?

A3  Yes. The musical instrument Veena is relatedto divinity.

Playing the Veena is a Moksha sadhana. The Veena derives its shape only from 
the figure of aMan – his rear (‘brishtam’), spinal cord, neck and head. If 
theVeena is played in the right manner it would lead one in the Yogic path.

Q4 Do female andmale sex organs are representations of parvathi and Siva?Do 
smearing sacred ashon the body will liberate a person  fromall his sins?

A4 Yes is the answer to both the QA. Lingapuran-Lord Shiva revealed to the 
sages that a female sexorgan was nothing but a symbolic expression of goddess 
Parvati where as a malesex organ symbolized his own self.

A person who smears ash on his body becomes liberated from all his sins.It is 
the destroyer of sin. It is the symbolic expression of my 'Veerya'(Semen).

 Q5 Is  there any mythology legend stating   Lord Vishnu manifested from in 
between theeyebrow of Lord Brahma?

A5  Yes. Lord Vishnu manifested from in between the eyebrowof Lord Brahma. At 
that time Lord Shiva had arrived there to bless both ofthem. 

After the departure ofLord Shiva, Vishnu took the incarnation of Varah (Boar) 
and reestablished theearth in it's original position.Lord Brahma then commenced 
his creation and in course of time the earth came tobe inhabitated by all kind 
of living creatures. 

Q6 What is the origin of deities,demons and other celestial entities ?

A6  On being enquired by the sages about theorigin of deities, demons and other 
celestial entities, Sutji said—

Dakshabeing desirous of enhancing the population, created ten-thousand sons 
merely byhis wish and instructed them to contribute in the propagation of 
population. His objective remainedunfulfilled as Narad was successful in 
preaching them towards thepath of devotion. As a result all of them went to do 
meditation afterrenouncing the world.

Daksha then begot sixty daughters from his wifenamed Vairini. When these 
girlsgrew up, Daksha married to different sages--ten of them were married to 
Dharma,thirteen to Kashyap, twenty-seven to Soma, four to Arishtanemi, two to 
Bhrigu'sson, two to Krishashwa and the remaining two were married to Angira.

The namedof Dharma's wives were Marutivati, Vasu, Aryama, Lamba, Bhanu, 
Arundhati,Sankalpa, Muhurta, Sadhya and Vishwabhamini.

Vishwabhamini was the motherof Vishvedeva, Vasu became the mother of eight 
Vasus.

Dwaipayanwas the son of Parashar and Shukra was Dwaipayan's son.

Q7 How Shakti had been devouredby a demon named Rudhir?

A7 TheSages asked Sutji how Shakti had been devoured by a demon named Rudhir.

Sutijireplied--- Once, Sage Vashishth was presiding over a grand Yagya 
beingorganized by a king named Kalmashpad. Vashishth had a rivalry with 
Vishwamitra. On seeingVashishth busy in that Yagya, Vishwamitra instigated 
Rudhir-- a demon, to killhis sons. Rudhir followed the instructions and 
devoured Vashishth'ssons including Shakti.

WhenVashishth learnt about his sons death his heart was filled with grief. 
Hedesired to give up his life but was prevented from doing so by his 
daughter-in-law. She informedhim about her pregnancy and said-- Very soon you 
will see your grandson.So, quit the idea of givingup your life. Vashishth, 
though still mournful of his son's death,postponed the idea of giving up his 
life for the time being. 

One daywhile he was engrossed in the thoughts of his departed son, he was 
amazed tolisten the recital of a Vedic hymn. He looked all around but found 
nobody.Suddenly heheard a heavenly voice that revealed by his grandson who was 
still inside thewomb of his mother. In course of time, Adrushyanti gave birth 
to a son who was named Parashar. 

One dayyoung Parashar curiously enquired from his mother as to why she did not 
put onornaments like other women of her age do. Arundhati kept quite but 
whenParashar kept on insisting she revealed to him that it was not proper for a 
mournful women to adornherself. She also told him how his father--Shakti had 
been killed byRudhir, the demon.

Parasharconsoled Arundhati by saying that he would avenge his father's lord 
Shiva. He then madean earthen Shivalinga and started worshipping it by chanting 
the scared mantrasof Shiva-Sukta and trayambak Sukta. Lord Shiva became pleased 
by hisdevotion and blessed him with a divine vision which enabled him to see 
his deadfather Vashishth prevented Parashar from contiuing with that Yagya as 
manyinnocent demons had suffered. 

Parashar stopped performing the rituals at hisfather's request. Sage Pulastya 
had also been invited in that yagya. He wasvery pleased by his devotion toward 
his father and blessed him with the knowledge of all the scriptures. In 
courseof time, Parashar became famous for his treatise--Vishnu Puran.

Q8 What is the lineage of Adityaand Chandra?

A8 Onbeing enquired by the Sages about the respective lineage of Aaditya (Sun) 
andSoma (moon) Sutji replied---

Sage Kashyap had a son--Aaditya,from Aditi. Aditi had four wives--Sangya, 
Rajyi, Prabha andChhaya. Sangya gave birth to Manu whereas Ragyi was the mother 
of Yama, Yamunaand Raivat. Prabha gave birth to Prabhat while chhaya was the 
mother of threechildren--Savarni, Shani, Tapti and Vrishti.

Chhaya was extremely affectionatetowards her step son-- Yama. One dayYama 
kicked her in anger as a result of which his leg became inflicted with 
incurable disease.He became cured of his disease only after doing penance for 
thousands of yearsat as place called Gokarna. In short Yama and Sani are sons 
of Soorya from Ragyi and Chaya respy

Q9 Everybody knows aboutHarichandra. Who was his father?

A9 Themost truthful king Harish Chandra was the son of Trishanku. Harish 
chandra had a sonnamed Rohit. Sagarbelonged to the lineage of Harish chandra.

His son  Rohit had two wives-- Prabha had given birthto sixty thousand sons but 
Bhanumati had only one son named Asamanjas. Anshumanwas the son on Asamanjas. 
Anshuman's son was Dilip. Sage Bhagirath was the son of Dilip. Inshort 
Bhagiratha come from the lineage of Harichandra.

Q10 Who are Some prominentpersonality who belonged to the lineage of Soorya?

A10 Someprominent personality who belonged to the lineage of Ikshavaku were 
Shrut,Naabhaag, Ambarish, Dirghabahu, Dilip (Dirghabahu's son), Raghu, Aja, 
Dasharath,Ram, Laxman, Bharat, Shatrughna, Lav and Kush. 

The famous king Pururava alsocause from the same lineage. He was agreat devotee 
of Lord Shiva. His son was Nahush. Nahush had six sons among whomYayati was the 
eldest. Yayati had two wives--- Devayani and Sharmishtha. Yayati ruled over 
thewhole earth. He had conquered the whole earth with the help of divineweapons 
and chariot which he had received from his father in 
law--Shukracharya(Devayani's father).

Yayati hadtwo sons from Devayani-- Yadu and Turvasu. He also had three sons 
from hissecond wife--Sharmishtha whose names were Drushya, Anu and Puru.

Yayatiappointed his youngest son Puru as his successor because of his total 
devotiontowards his parent. Yadu was made the ruler of Southern province.

Yadu hadfive sons among whom Sahastrajeet was the eldest Devaratha, 
Devakshatrak andMadhu.The famous Kaurava dynasty came from the lineage of Madhu.

Aahukacame from the lineage of Yadu. He had two sons-- Devak and Ugrasen. The 
eldestson, Devak had eleven children--four sons and seven daughters. The names 
of hissons were-- Devavaan, Upadeva, Sudeva and Devarakshit. All his seven 
daughters,which also included Devaki were married to Vasudeva. Aahuk's youngest 
son,Ugrasen had nice sons among Kansa was the eldest.

Q11 What is the lineage ofSrikrishna?

A11 Vasudeva had a son namedBalaram from Rohini. Devaki, one of his wives gave 
birth of lord Sri Krishna .

SriKrishna had 16108 Queens among whom Rukmini was dearest. He did an 
austerepenance to please Lord Shiva as the result of which He was blessed with 
manysons like Charudeshna, Sucharu, Pradyumna etc. 

He also had a son namedSaamb from Jaambawati. 

Lord Krishna left for heavenly abode after enjoyinga long life of 120 years. He 
had destroyed His wholeclan before leaving His mortal body.

A hunternamed Jara who mistook him to be a deer killed him. Due to the curse 
ofAshtavakra, Sri Krishna's wives had been abducted by the dacoits.

Q12 Who are Vishvam deva andAshta vasus?

A12 Viswamdeva and Ashta vasus are the grand sons of Daksha
