BEING  A COMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1            What is the majordifference between North Indians and South
Indians while eating food?

A1            Nandakumar Lived inBengaluru, Karnataka, India Feb 23

Most South Indian foodscouldn’t be enjoyed with a spoon. Indeed you can try
with a spoon. But it won’t give such satisfaction aseating with hand. And
anyway never try eating in banana leaf with a spoon :)

So the main difference is most South Indians prefer to eat food by hand!

And most North Indians prefer aspoon or else try to use hand but without
touching the curry directly by thehand. Anyway, most of their food items are
not waterylike South. And I have seen a few battling to eat Dosa with a fork as
well :)That’s a crime indeed :)

If you have any different and interesting observations please share.
Myknowledge is based on what I observe in Bengaluru mostly!

Q2            Is vitamin D the onlyvitamin that a person can get without eating
any food, or is vitamin D actuallynot a vitamin, but a hormone or a steroid
hormone?

A2            Ken Saladin Author,Anatomy & Physiology—The Unity of Form and
Function Sat

I treat it as a hormone andsteroid derivative; it isnot in itself a steroid,
but it’s synthesized from cholesterol. I usually usethe name calcitriol for it,
as I think it’s misleading and unfortunate that it came to be called
avitamin—just one of many common misconceptions.

Q3            Can somebody stealmoney from my bank account in India simply by
knowing my account number? Thereare several posts on Quora saying so, though
these may not be from India. Howcan it happen?

A3            KanthaswamyBalasubramaniam Lawyer Sun

Can somebody steal from your House if they know your Address?

Sure but not just by knowing your address right?

They have to be experienced enough to break into your house. They have tobypass
your ferocious Guard Dog or Tough Lock. They have to ensure they dontwake up
your neighbors. They have to find out where you keep your valuables. They have
to know how to crack a safe.

In Short - Maybe 0.1% of People who know your address can actually stealfrom
your house right????

Stealing knowing your Account number is possible only by around 0.00001%People
who know your account number.

Lets say i know your Account Number

How do i know which Bank?

Lets say i know your Bank and Account Number. Then i can probably findout which
Branch easily enough and transfer money to your account.

But thats the maximum i can do

Why?

→ I dont know your Signature so i cannot sign a debit voucher

→ I dont have your Looks so i cannot get a debit voucher even if i canforge
your signature

→ I dont have a Chequebook so i cannot issue a cheque

→ I dont have your username or password - so i cannot login to youronline
banking account

→ I dont have your Mobile Phone so cannot get the OTP for transactions

→ I dont have your Mobile numbers so cannot use any mobile banking sites

→ I dont have your ATM Card or ATM Pin - So i cannot use your ATM Card todraw
money

So only you can provide me with any of the above so that i can take moneyfrom
your account

A Signed Cheque, Your ATM Card and Pin, Your Mobile Phone Set and MPIN orOnline
Username and Password etc.

Whom do you give such details to?

Family, Friends, Maybe….Colleagues

Do you give such info to Strangers?????

So No - NO WAY that anyone cantake money just by knowing your account number

Q4           What does it mean when a washing machine says 7kg? Is that7kg dry
weight of clothes, wet clothes or 7kg wet clothes with water?

A4            Gopala Krishnan ,former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966-2004)Answeredjust now

As I understand capacity 7kg of a washing machine meant weight of
clothesdipped/socked in water. Normally one cannot wash more than 2 thick
bed-sheetsin a 5kg washing machine. This is my experience and understanding
from companytechnicians. By experience one can understand the socked weight of
clothes.Further a washing machine should not be loaded above 75% of it’s
capacity.

Q5            Why do scientistsclaim that the Sun will eventually be the
Earth's demise?

A5            Steve Baker SeniorSoftware Engineer (2013–present)Feb 25

We can calculate the mass of the sun - and the rate at which it’sconverting
hydrogen into helium. We know that when stars similar to the sun run out of
hydrogen, theystart burning helium instead.

During that transition, the sun will get brighter and about 2,000 timeslarger.
We know this because we can see other stars thathave suffered the same
fate. This huge expansion will boil the Earth’soceans, blow away the atmosphere
and then melt the entire planet.

Although the Sun will by then have engulfed Mercury and Venus - it’sexpansion
will stop short of swallowing Earth - but the Sun’s upper atmospherewill extend
out beyond Earth, so that will cause drag - which will slow theEarth down until
it crashes into the Sun.

Q6            Who produces lentils?

A6            Ian De Pagie foodblogger Feb 22

The biggest producer of lentilsis Canada. Followed by India. Together they
produce almost 60%

Whereas Indians eat their lentils, Canadians don’t. They export the whole
lot.Producing on a big scale they manage to keep prices down. So low that
otherforeign producers think twice before cultivating them. Sicilian lentils,
amongthe best in the world, are sold for no less than the double Canadian
lentilscost. And although your lentil soup will be better when using Sicilian
lentils,Canadian lentils do the trick.

Back to your question:Canadians produce lentils as a cash crop. Others do it
out of tradition.

Q7            Shouldn’t our bodiesreturn back to the Earth? How can that happen
in a casket?

A7            Ken Saladin A studentof life Feb 25

So much of our body is recycledat the molecular to cellular level repeatedly
during our lifetimes. What’s left of it when we die is a vanishinglysmall
fraction of the matter that comprises our bodies during our lifetimes.
Ninety-nine point nine nine nineumpty nine percent of one’s body is returned to
the earth. Whatlittle bit goes into a casket is trivial compared to all we’ve
been betweenbirth and death. Just another way of looking at it.

particular station?

A9            Prashant Tiwari IndianRailways Enthusiast Sun

Stoppage of any train at particular station depends on multiple factors like
foot fall, station’s value on its route, its historicalimportance and Requests
from MP of that area.

Foot fall and historical importance are two major aspects through whichRailway
decides the stoppage of any train.

Exceptions are always there as Sampoorna Kranti SF Express skipsPrayagraj Jn.

station bacause of its own reputation which is “ Aam logo kiRajdhani”.

Q10         Why are oysters so hardto open?

A10          Martin Bayer Chef(1994–present)Feb 25

Oysters are alive. Inside of that hard shell is a simple bivalve organismthat
is delicate and squishy. Animals like otters, bears and even bald eagles,(yeah,
bald eagles!) eat oysters. The hard to open shell slows them down.Allof those
animals do eventually get inside and snack on the squishy oysterflesh, but the
shell keepsthem from eating all of them. The shells protect the species from
beinggobbled into extinction.

Q11                  I usually seegeckos in my house and I am very scared. Are
they harmful to human life? Dothey bite?

A11          Claire Jordan Degree inbiology and folklore; programmer, shop
owner, secretary on newspaper Tue

No, they’re harmless. Theworst they can do is startle you if they lose their
grip on the ceiling andfall on you. They’re cute, shy and hoover up bugs some
of which really mightharm you. As others have said, they won’t bite unless you
grab them and if they do, it’ll just be amild nip like a small puppy’s.

I do, yes. I want one that will last as long as possible, of the type Iprefer
to use, in a style and finish that suits its surroundings. The first isto put
off having to do more plumbing work; the others are because, if I’mgoing to be
using and looking at it for many years, I might as well get it justright.
