Q1            Why would electricproblems in a washing machine, cause the
machine/laundry to carry a bad/fishysmell?

A1            Ron Garrett, Likes SF,fantasy, and quantum physics- Layman
philosopher..Answered Apr 20, 2015

Sometimes the insulation onwiring can heat up and out-gas this fishy odor. Old
tube-type televisions were notorious for thisissue. Have checked out by a pro.

2ND ANSWER- Steven J Greenfield, Electronics EngineeringTechnician, Autodidact,
INTP-TAnswered Apr 19, 2015

What electrical problems? Electrolyticcapacitors make a fishy smell when they
are going bad. So maybe thecontrol electronics are breaking down.

Or you may have a lintbuild-up under the tub that stays damp and has mold or
bacteria growing in it.

3RD ANSWER- Adrian Hum, lives in Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaAnswered Oct 5,

Agree with every answer here…Here is the fix…Set the machine for the hottest
cycle available…Letthe machine drain… as the machine begins to fill again, add
2 cups of the cheapest whitevinegar that you can find…

When the machine has let out the original water, and begins to fillagain, add
another cupof vinegar…Do this at least once every ten or so loads of
washing…Bythe way, you should also do this once a month with your dishwasher.

Q3            In much of the world, the post-lunch nap, or siesta, is part of
the culture. In the US, we're toldthis is unhealthy and bad for digestion. What
are the medical facts?

A3            Ken Saladin Textbookauthor and professor emeritus Mon

It’s not bad for digestion atall. That idea is just an oldfolk belief without
scientific substantiation.

When we’re sleeping, oursympathetic system is dialed down to “low” and the
parasympathetic system isturned up to be more active. Theparasympathetic
division promotes digestion; the sympathetic division opposesit. A post-lunch
nap istherefore probably healthier, or at least better for one’sdigestion, than
physical or even mental work or play. I think a siesta after lunch isa great
idea.

Q6            What is stopping SouthIndians from learning Hindi?

A6            Mohith R Gowda KnowsHindi Sat

We require to learn Hindi if we get one situation like if we SouthIndians come
and live in North Indian states, then for sure we will learn Hindithere. We will
embracethat culture.

But living in South India and if you force that you should learn Hindiand all,
that doesn't make sense.

Nothing is stopping any SouthIndian from learning Hindi.

Most schools in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala make us tostudy
Hindi as a 3rd language.

It's just that inTamil Nadu it's optional. In other states, option is not
provided. Butinspite of learning Hindi for years in school, the Hindi we know
is a basicone.Because Hindi is not our language. Our languages are different
and we speakour languages only.

My note- There is Hindi PracharSabha in Tamilnadu and manylearn things by
correspondence lessons and writing examination in differentgrade. My son passed
Visarad  studying by correspondence.

Q7            Would it be possibleto genetically alter a human to have ears and
a tail of any color?

A7            Ken Saladin Formerprofessor of histology (microscopic anatomy)22h

No, it wouldn’t.

Even if there were reason to, or if one were just trying to write aplausible
science fiction story, these are not single-gene traits that can bechanged by
editing a gene or two. The gene editing for something like this would beso
extensive it would almost certainly have unpredictable and possiblydevastating
effects on other features and functions of the body.

Q9            Will eating sweetpotatoes cause me to gain weight?

A9            Lucia Garcia Worked atHospitals12hEating sweet potatoes does not
gain weight, instead, in many countries, sweetpotatoes are considered a weight
loss food.

Sweet potatoes are not high in calories and have almost negligible fatcontent.
100 grams of sweet potatoes contain only 86 calories.

Sweet potatoes are rich indietary fiber. Dietary fiber is regarded as a “weight
loss killer” and a “fat nemesis”, which can reduce the absorption of fatduring
digestion and avoid the accumulation of fat.

Most importantly, sweet potatoes contain resistant starch, which is atype of
starch that cannot be broken down by the digestive tract.

In recent years, many studieshave shown that resistant starch can effectively
increase fat oxidation andburn more fat.

Research from the University of Colorado shows that eating a meal rich
inresistant starch increases fat burning by 20% to 25% all day long.

In addition, slow-digesting resistant starch can stay in thegastrointestinal
tract for longer times, keeping you fuller for longer.

To lose weight, eat sweet potatoes that are cooked and cooled, whichincreases
the resistant starch content.FAO and WHO has pointed out: "Thediscovery of
resistant starch is one of the most important results of recentresearch on the
relationship between carbohydrates and health.

Q10         What are the roles ofmicroorganism in insulin production?

A10          Ken Saladin Formerprofessor of histology (microscopic anatomy)Mar
11

In the early decades of insulintherapy, medical insulin was extracted from pig
pancreases. That raised problems of allergy as well as forsome orthodox Jews
and Muslims with taboos (treif and haram) againstconsumption of pork products.
(There is some debate and exception, I think, forinjected drugs not falling
within these religious dietary laws, but I won’t gointo that.)

When recombinant DNA wasinvented in the 1970s (subject of the 1978 Nobel Prize
for Physiology or Medicine) and patented in 1980, the first commercial use of
thistechnology was to make insulin—pioneered by the Genentech and Eli
Lillycompanies.

This means the human insulingene is inserted into the DNA of bacteria (E.
coli); these transgenic bacteriamultiply rapidly in industrial vats of
incubated culture medium; and every timea bacterial cell transcribes this gene,
it makes a molecule of human insulin. The recombinant bacteria are now cultured
inindustrial-scale vats like these and insulin purified from the culture medium.
