Today evening one girl of about 15 years and hermother came to my home. Mother wanted to take a photograph of a plant in pot tosubmit to school by her daughter. My wife said you can select the plant. Sheselected a plant. Then the mother asked her daughter to bring water inthe mug which was kept near on a siting bench provided on the side of portico.She took the photograph while the daughter watering plant. We understood the school would have asked the girl tosubmit a photograph of her watering a plant in her home. Having no plant in herflat/home the mother would have come to our home seeing plants in front of ourhome. Either the girl or mother was not known to us earlier. Most probably before months the school would have instructedstudents the importance of gardening and asked students to grow at least potplants and now to get a photograph of watering it. Probably they would not have given importanceat that time. I thought for a moment the importance given for plantingseedlings in the curriculum nowadays – A good move. If one observes any Malayalam movie, one can see evenin poor people homes, bringing up pot plants. Nothing to tell about middle class and upperclass homes. While it was very hot summer before a month my wife used to tell, because of the plantsaround our home is some- what cool. Every day Mr. Markandeyalu writes about nature in thegroups. I thought of writing this incident today- Schools instructing studentsto bring up pot plants in their homes- a move to green nature.
