BEING  ACOMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1         Why don't North Indians and Tamillabours leave Kerala?

A1          Nandakumar Balasubramanian Studied in Tamil medium andproud of it
Tue

There might be below reasons whyNorth and Tamil labours are in Kerala

Kerala people don’t have the capability to do those works

Kerala people arelazy to do those works

Kerala people loveto keep those labours

Kerala benefitsfrom those labours and laboursare earning nicely there. It’s
mutual

And speaking as perthe constitution any person from India can live anywhere and
nobody has a rightto say them to leave.

Consider the sameway if Karnataka and Tamil Nadu decide to keep the Kerala
labours out of theirstate and Dubai also does the same will Kerala sustainwith
its limited Industries?

By the way BiknessDerberb I'm from Coimbatore/Tiruppurarea and yet to meet a
single person from my region who went as a labour toKerala. In contrary
myregion has good number of Malayali labours who work in Industriesand a good
number of Malayali women will serve food in most functions here!

Everything ismutual and ask a better question next time!

My note- One reason for other state people inKerala  and Tamilnadu is, they get
more wages in these states and are more skilled than Keralitesand Tamilnadu
people in granite, marble and tile works.

Q3         What are some advantages of buildinghouses with mud and straw
instead of concrete or wood?

A3          Brian Good, Acting Assistant DeputyDirector, Ministry of Moot
PointsSep 2

The advantage is that you can probably find the materialson the site or nearby
at low cost.

The disadvantage isthat you may be trying to re-invent the art of adobe on your
own, ignoring thousandsof years of technological experience. Africans have been
building mud homes for millennia.

Q4         Why is it that the more we use airconditioners, the more heat
increases?

A4          Andy Duffell,Armourer, engineer,nerd.Tue

Because air conditioners don’t create “cold”, all they dois move heat from one
place to another. All the heat they pump out of your house or car ends up in
the airoutside. Ontop of this, no machine is 100% efficient, so they generate
some waste heat. So in the end the atmosphere contains all the heat you moved
out frominside the space you’re cooling, plus the waste heat from runningthe
air conditioner.

Q5         Can we eat apple and milk together?

A5          Lucia Garcia,Worked at Hospitals8h

Apples and milk arerecognized as the top 10 healthy foods in the world, they
can provide manyessential nutrients for your body.

However, many nutritionists believe that Apples and Milk Are Not a
LegitimateCombination.

Milk is rich inhigh-quality protein, and its digestibility is as high as 90%.
Milk is anexcellent source of protein for the human body.

Apples contain a lot of acidic substances such asmalic acid and ascorbic acid
(vitamin C).

Clinicalexperience has shown that the protein in milk and the acid in the apple
meet inthe stomach and Will Coagulate into Lumps, damaging the nutrients in the
appleand milk.

If you eatmany apples and milk together, it may cause indigestion.Severe cases
can also cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea andabdominal pain.

It isrecommended not to eat apples within 1 hour before and after drinking milk

Q4         Why is an air conditioner costly?

A4          Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004) Feb 16

Because of the mostimportant part compressor. Designing internal and external
unit in split AC.The running capacitor, high quality copper tubing also costs.

Normally a good compressor for 1.5 ton AC costs above15000–00 during
replacement. I have replaced onecompressor before 4 years.

Q5         Where do doctors eat in the hospital?

A5          Khengchat Ng, Self Employed(1986–present)Mon

Those whosedepartments allow them to have regular meal times ( e.g. pathology,
radiology, general outpatients ) havethem in the canteen. The hospitals I worked
at provided a diningarea only for doctors. It sounded apartheid until one
realizes a lot ofsemi-informal meeting work is done there, like discussing
common patients. Theinformation was all subject to confidentiality and hence
the restriction onnon-medical staff dining there. Doctors were allowed to dine
in the general areas but they wereadvised not to discuss work there. Other
doctors may get the chanceto dine in the doctor dining area sometimes, but
often, it will be grabbedsandwiches over overdue paperwork.

Q6         If I am Gujarati, can I call myself aNorth Indian?

A6          Bhuvana Rameshwar, Lives in India(1989–present)5h

No.You are a Gujarathi.Youdo not need to group yourself with the north Indian
states. Nor do you need tocall yourself a West Indian. So call yourself a
Gujarathi proudly.

In South India wecall Guajratis as Gujarathis. We do not group them with
Rajasthanis although both thesestates are West Indian states to be precise.
This is because of our awarenessof the contrast in Gujarat and Rajasthan.. in
Culture, language, topography andnatural resources. Weassociate Rajasthan with
Thar desert, Rajput forts, palaces and Hawamahalalthough now Rajasthan is doing
very well in agriculture too thanksto the Indira gandhi canal. We also know
marble for our floors and walls comesfrom Rajasthan, so do many of the migrant
labour for construction work, carpentry and tile work.

Gujarat stands, ahead of Rajasthan in agriculture andrelated produce but is
also famous as the stateof Modi and the large number high level business men
not only in India, butthroughout the world. We associate Gandhi, Sabarmati,
Statue of Unity, Dwarka,Rann of Kutch and Gir forest with Gujarat.

We in southernparts of India thus easily differentiate between the Gujrati
community from the Jain or marwaricommunity. They both are found in large
numbers in all parts ofsouthern India especially in cities and bigger towns of
Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,AP, Telengana and Pondicherry. They are in lesser numbers
in Kerala thoughprobably due to strong communist affiliations.

So we do not groupthem together as west India while talking general about them
but may be if weteach or learn the physical features of India in geography or
in geology.

My note- In Chennaithere are number of Rajasthan origin  andGujarat origin
people bornin Chennai and studied southern languages and speak them fluently

Q7         Why Indian Railways is planning tointroduce hundreds of Vande Bharat
trains capable of 160 to 200 kmph speed in 2to 3 years but most of routes have
speed potential of 110 to 120?

A7          Prasanna Bhalerao, Knows about trains.Aug 18

They may have slightly higher average speed then rajadhani.

Rajdhani trains(latest Tejas rakes) also capable of travelling at 160 kph. But
capacity is one thing, tracks and congestion is another thing.

Try asking yourselfthe question: Why am I buying/bought a car capable for
120–140 kph when Icannot travel more than 50 kph, mostly 30 kph in the city?
But the answer to that is ifyou travel on an expressway, an empty one, you can
zoom at 120 kph.(You shouldn’t but that is a different issue).

Same way when the new tracks are built, congestionreduced (alas! a pipe dream),
signal systems improved, etc., then these trains will be able to travel at 160
kph (hopefully). But atrain capable of 120 kph only will never be able to
travel at 160 kph eventrack, traffic, signalling system, etc., favours it.

Finally, the number of Vande Bharat trains (Train-18sitting-only type) will be
limited, not hundreds. When sleeper enabled Vande Bharat trains (Train-20) are
introduced, the numbermay jump significantly.

Q8         Why aren't trains built with two deckslike most buses?

A8          David Moe,Lives in Canadian Rockies(2006–present)3y

Outside of the UK trains often have double decker passengercars. The UK is the
onlycountry I know of that allows double decker buses but not double decker
trains. In most other countries, the railway gauges are sufficiently tall that
thatthey can operate double decker trains, but often low clearances under
bridges and wires incities prevent the operation of double-decker buses.

See: Bilevel railcar - Wikipedia

Double decker trainin the Canadian Rockies:

One of the reasonsrailways in other countries have much higher loading gauges
than the UK is thattheir railways werebuilt much later. By that time, railways
realized that they wantedto be able to carry double decker carriages and much
taller cargo than UKrailways allowed, and they built their tunnels and bridges
to allow it. The UK railway system would haveto be rebuilt to handle it in the
UK.

Double stackedcontainer train in the US:You can’t double stack cargo containers
in most ofEurope, but you can inNorth America, India, and China because of the
high loading gauges.

Q9         What stones along raliway track means?

A9          Subhasis Dutta Roy,20 years in Indianrailways (including15 yrs as
Loco Pilot)Updated 1y

Trains move on therailway track. The wheels of a train are also rigidly fixed
with axles. Sorailway tracks must be in a fixed position where they should be.

It is directlyrelated to trains movements. If anything very small portion of
railway tracks, is mismatched ordislocated at any portion of railway track, it
turns to an accident.

The image showedabove of a railway track that dislocates from its original
position. It is veryvery dangerous for a train movement.

Railway tracks placed on the sleeper. These sleepershold the railway track.

So it is most necessary Railway tracks must not bedislocated. How could it
possible?

It is notpossible economically, to make a concrete base throughout the railway
track.

So the next optionis railway track must be placed on something that can hold
the railway track inproper place irrespective of heavy loaded trains movement
on the railway track.

So engineersinvent this ballast stone foundation around 200 years ago and
still, itcontinues.

But railway tracks not placed on ballast only. A solidfoundation makes before
laying ballast on that. This foundation has threelayers. Herewith this picture,
you can understand this.

On the naturalground, a subgrades foundation made. If you see the new railway
tracks building then you alsosee the huge soil foundation building up for long
days.

Then the first layer of ballast and a secondary layer ofballast foundation
build.

Lastly at the top final layer of ballast and sleepers laid. Then on the
sleepers, railway tracks lay.

So that ballast is very very important for moving trainswith safety.

Railway has adepartment named permanent way department is looked after the
railway trackthroughout the year.

If you travel on a train you can see trackmen wearing anorange dress working on
railway tracks.

They are the key person to ensuring the safety of Railwaytrack subsequently
railway passengers like you.

Q10              Did all humans originate fromAfrica? If so, why did some
humans leave Africa?

A10        Claire Jordan,Degree in biology andfolklore; programmer, shop owner,
secretary on newspaper Wed

Yes, all groups of humans came from Africa ultimately. The Neanderthals and
Denisovans evolved outside Africa, but they evolved inEurope and Asia from
groups of Homo heidelbergensis or Homo antecessor whothemselves had come from
Africa.

The latest thinking, at least according to the BBC, is thatthe first people to
leave Africa did so from the Horn of Africa to what is nowYemen. The mouth of
the Red Sea is narrow enough that on a clear day theywould be able to see that
there were hills and trees over there.

As to why theycrossed over, maybe there was a drought on the African side.Maybe
they were just curious and wanted to explore. Maybe they were fishingfrom a
canoe and got blown across. Maybe there were too manypeople on the African side
and they wanted to get away from their inlaws, orthey’d quarrelled with the
local chief.

Maybe they weretraders looking for a source of new trade goods. Maybe their
gods told them tocross. We don’t know and will probably never know, since
writinghadn’t been invented yet.
