DETERGENTS ANDSCRUBBERS Today I had been to the nearby large supermarket topurchase items including a cleaning detergent with container. I found one, which was large in size and heavyof name VIM. I found also smaller one ofthe same type. The perfectness of the container and cover and color attractedme. I purchased the large one to cleanthe wash basins and sinks, and vesselsto a certain extent so that vessels kept in sink is somewhat clean in theevening, before lighting Lamp in pooja room and night before going to bed.
I am very specific whether my wife had cleaned or not,to clean the LPG stove and kitchen sink and keep them tidy, transferring vesselsitems to work area sink in the evening and night. Present day glass top LPGstoves and stainless steel sinks are very easy to clean. There was a message on the detergent box top. FREE scrubber is inside. On opening I found agood scrubber of thick emery cloth type. I purchased the smaller one for the ladyservant, since I was sure she will also use whatever items I purchase for workarea. Though no message was in it, when I opened there was a scrubber. This isa nostalgic posting with some added information. Gopalakrishnan 20-10-2022 1. Chemical detergent If my remembrance is correct the first chemicaldetergent powder VIM came in a glittering silver thick cylindrical papercontainer during 1965’s. It was costlier, but most women liked the powder for itsperfect cleaning ability. For a long time the vessels cleaning powder mostpopular in Tamilnadu was VIM. Scrubberappeared in 1967. On those days it was oval in size. Still it continues. 2. Sabena For reasons not known, the production of Vim stoppedsuddenly. There are many items stopped production, while in good sales. Sabenaappeared in 2009. Along with plastic and metallic scrubbers this startedappearing in 1999. The draw back with metallic scrubbers is that due towear and tear it may break to even tiny parts, and if vessels are not cleanedwell, it may stick to it. Plastic scrubbers also break, but large pieces andcoloured, very easy to detect. However it is a must vessels are carefully seen beforeusing. Sabena continues now also. In village areas where cleaning water is left toopen, no problem. If the cleaning water is sent to soak pit, it may remain attop mostly, sticking to sock bricks and remain on top. Often they have to beremoved. Surely some foul smell would be there, so it is removed after pouringslightly diluted phenol. Scrub pads appeared a little later I think. Scrub padsare most used where the polishing should not go from the surface. So it is usedin soft surfaces 3. Present day scenario Present day a lot of companies produce dish washingpowder, detergent and liquid. Similarly scorch pads, plastic and stainless steelscrubbers. All are of the same quality. However use of Sabena has to be reducedwhere sock pit is used to the sink pipe where cleaning water goes. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Thatha_Patty" group.
