Q1         Why do electrical devices heat up theirplugs?

A1         Gopala Krishnan,Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

There can be at least five reasons listed below can bethe reasons

The plug connectionto the socket . If the connection is loose due to wear and
tear

The plug is notinserted properly

The socket may haveloose connection inside

There can be looseconnection in equipment. In this case the connecting wire
also can be hot.

Electrical devicecan be very old and drawing more current

It is assumed thewire connected to the socket is of proper gauge and socket is
supplying powerto the wattage of the equipment. Call a technician and he may
check the above points and set right theproblem, whatever of the above

Q2         Do people still live in houses that arehundreds of years old?

A2         Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004) Just now

My ancestral homein Kerala might have been more than 100 years old, when it was
demolished fornew construction. My father was born in that home, and he lived
84 years in1991. The home was demolished about 10 years back for new
construction,

It had mud walls whenI was born except the wooden from Nera in Malayalam, old
type of doors and the home was renovated in my boyhooddays changing to country
brick wall, setting right damages in the roofing, refitting doors, floor
cementing etc.

So with goodmaintenance homes can be there built even 100 years before.

The present dayhomes in India with RCC roof and quality brick works and teak
wood wooden worksand granite flooring are expected to survive more than 100
yearswith PROPER PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND DAILY UP-KEEPING by residing in the
home.

Q3         Do all Indian railway stations have agoods shed? If not, which ones
don't have one and why not?

A3         Realistic Person,23h

No, Goods Shed orGoods Terminal are not present in all Railway Stations. They
are made only onMajor Cities. Some Examples of Goods Shed and Goods Terminal
are FCI Godown,Bottling Plant, Thermal Power Plan and Freight Loading/Unloading
Shed. Theseare made on a particular important town or cities where Freight
Trains come andUnload the goods. Then these Goods are transported to the City
and all nearbyCities.

Pics — Goods arebeing unloaded from a Freight Train and loaded in Trucks at
Goods Shed/FreightTerminal Muzaffarpur.

If we talk aboutBihar, Goods Shed, FCI Godown, Bottling Plant, Freight Terminal
all are presentin Muzaffarpur where Freight Train comes and unloads goods like
Petrol, Cement,Grains, Coals, Stones, Wheats etc. Then all these goods are
supplied to thecity and nearby cities.

Some cities ofBihar like Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, don't have Goods Shed or Freight
Terminal.Same in there are many places in India where Goods Shed, Freight
Terminals arenot present. Goods are transported to these types of from nearby
city or townwhich has Goods Shed and Goods Terminal. Goods Shed are not made in
all Citiesand Towns bcoz its not economically feasible. Trucks are used to
transportgoods to those cities or place which don't have Goods Shed.

Pics- A FreightTrain standing at Goods Shed/Freight Terminal Muzaffarpur

Take example ofBottling Plant. In Bottling Plant a Petrol Tanker Train come and
Unloads thePetrol, then these Petrol are filled in Tanker Trucks and these
Tanker Trucksare goes to all the Petrol Pump of that City and nearby cities.

Pic- A PetrolTanker Train which is going to be inside Bharat Petroleum Bottling
Plant tounload Petrol and some Freight Trains to load or unload Goods standing
at GoodsShed/Freight Terminal Muzaffarpur.

FCI Godown — A FreightTrain which is loaded with full of Grains and Foods like
Potato, Onion, Wheatetc comes inside FCI Godown. Then all these Foods are
loaded in a Truck andthen sent to the city and nearby cities.

Power Plant — ACoal loaded Freight Train comes inside Power Plan, these coals
are unloadedfrom Freight Train and used to make Electricity.

Typical Goods Shed-A Freight Train full of Stones, Sands, Bricks, Cement etc
come and then allthese items are unloaded and then loaded in Trucks. Then these
Trucks supplyall these items to that city and nearby cities.

This is how FreightTrains bring all these necessary Goods which are needed in a
Town or City.

My note- Pictures are not added. In south India speciallyin Kerala, while
laying  tracks andopening stations Goods station was constructed, later
abandoned in manystations. In some stations it is working.

Q4         Are grape seeds healthy to eat?

A4         Leonard Newton, Accountant at ICICIBank (2012–present)Oct 8

While mostvarieties of grapes in stores today are seedless, you can
occasionally find grapes with seeds inthe middle.

Grape seeds arecrunchy and have a bitter taste, but that doesn't mean you have
to spit them out.If you choose to consumegrape seeds, they are unlikely to harm
your health.

Grape seeds containseveral compounds that may offer health benefits, such as
antioxidants, flavonoids, and melatonin. They are also used to make health foods
such asgrape seed oil and grape seed extract that are used as supplements.

While those on blood thinners may be at a small risk ifthey eat large amounts
of grape seeds, most people can consume them withoutconcern.

Still, whether youchoose to eat grape seeds is a matter of personal preference,
and you likelywon't miss out on any significant benefits—or avoid major
risks—by spittingthem out.

Q5         What are some amazing facts about theIndian Railways?

A5         All Rounder, Wed

This train is sospecial that it has made it to the ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and
the questionasked was not for Rupees 5000, 10000, or 50000. It was asked as a
question fora whopping Rupees. 25 Lakh. The contestant couldn’t manage to
answer though.

Presenting to you India’s shortest running passengertrain with a huge fan
following and loyal commuter base, ‘The LegendaryAit-Konch Shuttle’!!!!

The Ait-KonchShuttle is a train that runs with just 3 coaches and covers a
distance of 13.68kilometers in 35 minutes, at a sluggish pace of 30 Kilometers
per hour. Soundsinteresting? What is more interesting is the history behind
this.

Konch and Ait aretwo tiny towns in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh and
comes under theJalaun district. The crumbling 15 km road ride from Konch to Ait
is a dauntingone for bones, young and old. Tempos charge Rs 20 for each
passenger and arriveat the destination in one hour.

The train made its first run around 1901-1903, evenbefore the Railway Board was
constituted in 1905.Introduced by Britishers, the shuttle was meant to ferry
goods and passengersas Konch was a big market for cotton, forest produce, and
ghee. The cotton wassent to Manchester for weaving.

When the government decided to discontinue its servicesin 1997, thousands
squatted on the railway line in protest. The railways tried to reason with them
and a Rail Bus was sent to Konch toreplace the shuttle. Butthe shuttle remained
the locals’ first and only choice.

Three months later, the train was back on track. Since the shuttle was running a
loss, with thefare only Rs 2 per head, local traders bought 200 tickets daily
to help boostthe revenue.

Post-Covid Pandemic, the train has now been restarted as‘Unreserved Special’
and the ticket is now costing Rs.30/- which was Rs.10/-before.

Nearly 400-500 passengers travel on the train every day. There is no halt on the
way but a passenger can flag it down with a wave,or request the guard to let
him alight when his village nears. Students andtraders from adjoining villages
take it to travel to Konch, which is the tehsilheadquarters and also has
several educational institutions. It is not surprising to find amarriage party
traveling by it. Or a railway employee on a joyride. It continuesto run on a
loss though….

Q6         What is the reason for the large numberof trains in Mumbai?

A6         Acknowledge, Sun

Mumbai’s localtrains are in many ways a defining feature of the city. There is
almost no onewho has lived in the city, who has not traveled by the local
trains. While most of the inhabitants gripeand grumble about the train service,
everyone appreciates how impossible lifewould be without it.

Acknowledge Mystery-Part of a Rich Legacy

Mumbai’s localtrain network today is actually a part of history. It is a part
of what was thefirst railway network to be built, not just in India, but the
whole of Asia. The infrastructure was built bythe British and the first train
on the continent ran between Thane and BoriBunder stations, the latter that was
rebuilt as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, which still stands proud to this day.
The momentous first trainjourney took place on the 16th of April, in 1853,
along a 34 km route.

When most people thinkof Mumbai’s local trains they tend to think of trains
plying from Churchgate toBorivali, or from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to
Thane. But, the rail network is a little more complicated than that with
variousmeandering routes, the city’s ever-expanding suburbs, and
differentrailway corridors. The total length of rail lines that form the local
networkadds up to over 400 kms.

Q7         What is power? An electrical heater israted 1200w. How much energy
does it use in 10 hours?

A7         Prasanna, B.E. in Electrical andElectronics Engineering, Hindusthan
College of Engineering and Technology(Graduated 2018) 3y

Electrical power may be defined as the Rate at which theEnergy is being
consumed or produced.

Mathematically itcan be expressed as follows,

Energy = Power ×Time

So, by thisexpression it is pretty easy to calculate the energy consumed by the
heater.

1200 watts × 10 hrs= 12000 Wh.

Since 1000 W isequal to one unit, total energy consumed by the heater is 12 Kwh
or 12 units

Q8         How can a Railway employee book aTatkal ticket online?

A8         Ajit Kumar,Section controller at IndianRailways (2019–present)Sun

Tatkal quota scheme is launched by railway for urgent, accidental ,unplanned
journey for every person. IN this scheme there is noconcession have, that one
can enjoy ,EVEN RAILAWAY EMPLOYEE.

One should be smartduŕing tatkal bòoking i.e. keep pre -filled data on online
booking,

or in offlinebooking one must have his postion the closest to booking counter
to enjoytatkal quota seat.100% one can get seat.

This is applicablefor all even railway employee. As it is unconcessional quota.

And last everything is possible, depend how much one has efforts and approach.
Pls don’t takein other way.🚫

My note- It was so when tatkal was introduced. Now 30%berths/seats are under
thatkal and dynamic charging in many trains.

Q9         Is eating rice equivalent to eatingsugar?

A9         Ronnie Place,Cutting, Punching, andPress Machine Setter at Compact
Disc Center (2012–present)21h

While most of the calories in white and brown rice comefrom carbohydrates,
white rice has a higher glycemic index than brown rice.

This means that aserving of white rice provides a quicker blood sugar spike,
which, according to Harvard Medical School, “has almost the same effectas
eating pure table sugar”. Brown rice has a lower glycemic index, which is better
for warding off diseases such as diabetes.

Q10              Do any cows get exported fromIndia every year?

A10       Varadha Rajaan, Enterprenuer, Travel,Farming, consultancy, Technology
etcFri

No Desi cows whichare banned to be exported are not. This includes breeds like
gir, sahiwal, ongole, kankrejand some other breeds.

During a decadeback an ongole breed cattle was tried to be exported from India,
the animalcosts about 32 lakhs, which was supposed to be transported by ship.
This was identified by the central govt and hence it was stopped andthe export
of live cattle was banned from India.

The gir breed wasthe native of gujarat , this breed was taken to Brazil and now
a population ofmore than 10 million animals are there in Brazil. But they need
new blood forevery decade and so they need to import them from India, since
export is bannednow Brazil has made tieup with farms in Gujarat which is
maintaining pure breedof cows. They have investedmore than 2 crores for setting
up a embryo transplant centre from which thefertilized embryos is freezed and
exported to Brazil.

Similarly, InAndhra the ongole cattle breed was developed and maintained for
its purity anda similar embryo transfer lab was setup for maintaining the
purity of thebreed.

A mix of Ongole, gir and sahiwal was developed as a Bhraman breed which is
famous around theworld. This breed will attaina weight of around more than one
tonne in a period of one and half to two years. This variety is famous for his
high tolerance and a good conversion ratio.A group of cattle owners forms an
association for the developing of the breedand in each country there is an
Bhraman cattle owners association which isthere to avoid inbreeding of the
cattle.

So Maintaining a desi cattle breed is essential , so thatour future generations
an able to get good milk from them, instead of crossbred cows, whose milk is
inferior in quality tothat of the native breed cows. Hope this helps…
