Q2 Why are red bananas consideredhealthier than other bananas? A2 Lucia Garcia, Worked at Hospitals Wed Red banana is one of the top ten rare fruits in the world. It is native to Malaysia and is now grown in East Africa, Asia and SouthAmerica. Red banana is a completely natural banana variety, with agrowth cycle of 450 to 500 days, which is nearly 100 days longer than that ofordinary bananas. After ripening, red bananas have reddish-purple skins, which are softer and sweeter than ordinary bananas, with a slight raspberryflavor. Compared withordinary bananas, red plantains contain more β-carotene, vitamin C, potassium and iron, and their nutritional value is much higher than ordinary bananas. In Central Americaand East Africa, red bananas are used as aphrodisiacs. It is believed that red bananascan help enhance fertility. Red bananas are expensive. In the US and Europe, red bananas are 7 to 8 times more expensive than ordinarybananas. My note- In Chennai earlier red banana was highly priced. Now all fruit shops are having it, priced about 80-00per kg like Nenthran. One quality observed is it’s shelf life for good quality isabove three days comparing to 2 days for other bananas Q3 Why is the Tamil Nadu Super FastExpress so famous and a big deal among rail enthusiasts? A3 Prashant Tiwari. Indian RailwaysEnthusiast3y There are so manyfactors behind the popularity of this train. Tamil Nadu Express is a superfast train whichconnects Dr. M G R Central (Chennai Central) to the capital city of the countryNew Delhi . Let us know all thefactors helping in the popularity of this train : 1 . Service : 12621/22 Tamil Nadu Express was firststarted on Aug 7, 1976 . It was the first State named train of the south. Itruns daily as 12621 from Chennai and 12622 from New Delhi. Other trains on thisroute are either bi-weekly or tri-weekly (excluding grand trunk exp.). 2. Timing: Timing plays an important role behind thesuccess of any train . This train 12621departs from MGR(Chennai) at 22:00 hours and reaches Delhi at 07:05on 3rdday ( 33 hours).where 12622 departs from New Delhi at 22:30 and reaches Chennaiat 07:10. 3. Speed: This train covers 2182 kms journey in just32 hours and 40 mins with an average speed of 66 km/hr which is really good. Asuperfast train with an average speed over 65 is rarely seen in IndianRailways. 4. Priority: Usually long distance non-premium trainsrun delayed by few hours in India but Tamil Nadu express mostly runs on timeand gets higher priority than other superfast trains. 5.Fare : Tamil Nadu Express is not a premium classtrain so the fares are as similar as any other superfast train. While bookingticket in any train we usually look for a train with suitable Timing, decentAverage Speed and priority on tracks and it will be like nuts on ice cream ifit runs daily. So, here it is The Tamil Nadu Express which fulfils all yourexpectations and that is why the train is also famous among the railenthusiasts. A4 Ajit Kumar, Section controller atIndian Railways (2019–present)19h It isminor. Case close matter close. Fine system is awarance towards railway. The rule is framed for safety of people. Tresspassing fine is part of thatpeople can aware while passing track. One may injured or hit by coming trainwhich has larger speed from our thinking. There is no affectgovt. Job oppertunities. Research has shownthat eating multiple bananas at a time can actually help to regulate bloodsugar levels. Q6 Is it important to have a kitchenrenovation done by professionals? A6 Gopala Krishnan, Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now Definitely. Professionals will have many innovative ideas. If a person himself or contractor renovate, these innovative ideas will not bethere. There is no meaning after crying over spilled milk ( One has donehimself) An example. While providing RCC slab for kitchen workingtable. One should be care full to ensure with bottom plastering there must be ampleheight to keep the LPG cylinder. I have seen in many homes LPG cylinder is keptoutside because of the height problem. Further while providing covering belowthe kitchen table, inthe LPG area the door must have perforations in ample numbers so that LPG leakcan be easily detected. If chimney is to beprovided , it should be ensured that provision for LPG stove is provided belowit. The hole provided for tube must be good enough so thattube easily moves without rubbing etc, etc. My added note- Nowadays the door is prepared insuch a manner it does not close 100% where LPG cylinder is kept Q7 I once visited Kenya and during mystay, I noted that they have a lot of people of Indian origin who are Kenyacitizens. When will they come back to India? A7 Lenny Chege, Studied at Nairobi, Kenya Jun3 No they are not coming back and actually they will get moreIndians joining them from India to Kenya. There ishistory into this, Indians arrived into Kenya starting in 18th Century under their colonialist British toconstruct Railway as they had already had experience from India. They arrived in aforeign land and them being expatriates they found a better life in Kenya asthey worked as Supervisors and above during the construction of Kenya-Uganda Railway.Later on they settled in Kenya and engaged in business and farming whereby theybecame very successful. That is one group of Indian who are in Kenya and now theyare in their 7th or 8th Generations hence they areKenyans but not Indians, but they are recognized by India government as “People of India origin". The second group of Indians are the expatriates andgirls/wives who have been brought from India to marry Indian men in Kenya.Based on above you will realize most of the people of Indian origin in Kenyaare rich and thriving in business and surprisingly they are now even Memebers of Parliament, Countyassembly etc. See below photos. Above is MisharaSwarup (Kenyan name Kiprop) he was born and grew up in India, moved to Kenyalike 15 years ago, he is now a billionaire, owner of Mediheal group ofHospitals and Member of National Assembly for Kesses Constituency. Irshad Sumra isformer member of parliament for Embakasi South in Nairobi County. Shakeel Shabir is amember of Parliament from Kisumu City. He is a Kenyan by Birth. Above is the listof richest Kenyans, you can clearly see the concentration of people of Indianorigin. Photos not attached. Q8 What are some tips for preparing forold age after retirement? A8 Gopalkrishna Vishwanath, Lived 69 yearsso far. No regrets. Look forward to the best years now. Oct 17 I received the following document in a WhatsApp forward. Iam glad to share it here. The original authoris Rotarian doctor JS Bhuvaneswaran director, Super specialty PSG hospitals. Mantra 1-Never say I am old /aged There are threeages in everybody's life. Biological: calculated basedon your date of birth. Chronological: determined byhealth condition. You can take care of your health with a good diet, exercise,a cheerful attitude, and activity field vocations. Psychological: depends on how oldyou feel. A positive thinking active life and optimistic attitude can reversethe psychological age. My note-Irrespective of chronological and psychological aging, biological age tell uponthe person is the truefact. Earlier skin wrinkled by 65 years, now with advancement of medical care,it has changed to 70 or 75 which shows on people Mantra 2 Your health is a top priority. Taking care of yourhealth should be your priority so that you are not a burden to anyone. Have anannual health check up and take the prescribed medicines regularly. Do takehealth insurance coverage. My note- One’shealth is depend also depends on your heredity, suffering in young age etc. Mantra 3-Vitamin M … essential Money isessential for meeting the basic necessities of life, keeping good health, and earning family respect and security. Don't spend beyond your means even for your children. Youhave lived for them all through and it is time you enjoyed a harmonious lifewith your spouse. If you are children are grateful and they take care ofyou, you are blessed but never take it for granted and presume that they arebound. My note- By the heredityor by culture, no parent can remain with educating the maximum by the parents. Those whoget pension may not have more dependence. Still dependence is there when moreexpenditure appears. Those without pension have very less cashdeposits on retirement is the true fact. This is the reason, GOvt of India hasmade ruling children have to look after parents in old age. Mantra 4 Detached attachment. Everybody lovestheir children. Adopt compromise, and detachment and try to be friendly with children. Never argue with them onany topic social, political or religious because you may win the argument but may lose therelationship and cordiality. It is not worth it at this stage. Remember that at this stage you require them more than they require youemotionally if not financially!! Adopt detached attachment and enjoy the lee years of life. Mantra 5Time left is precious. It is almost likeholding a horse’s reins. When they are in your hands you can control themImagine that every day you are born again. Live this moment, Live it fully nowin the present. Yesterdayis history. Tomorrow is a mystery and today is the truth that is present inyour hands. Don't harp on yesterday's achievements nor predict thefuture course. The changed circumstances are the real truth. Live with it andchannel your thoughts accordingly. Mantra 6Accept change Change is the onlypermanent thing. We should accept change - it is inevitable. Because ofgeneration change, things have moved to a different level technologically, inlifestyle, and thought process-wise. The only way to make sense out of thechange is to accept change. Do some voluntary service and share your experience for the good ofothers with no expectations. Mantra 7 Beenlightened, limited selfish Don't be botheredtoo much about others' mistakes. We are not spiritual enough to show our othercheek when we are slapped in one. But for the sake of our own health andhappiness let us forgive and forget them. Property/ money are the culpritsto spoil the relationships. Let that be decided by those who areconcerned after you go. But before let it remain suspense and surprise, as thatalone ensures your happiness, and enjoy their company. It is preferable toregister the will but that involves re-registering every time you intend tomake changes in it. My note- I know the case of a person, who divided the property among his two sons, they built newhomes, cars, their expenses are more, the agreement both children will lookafter went to air, both give meagre amount. When I asked why he divided property, his answer was- it will result in more quarrels and hemay not get even this meagre amount. It is a thoughtful point. He is not a pensioner and with meagre income heeducated children some how. Mantra 8 Overcome the fear of death. We think that ourspouse and children will be unable to withstand our loss. They will bedepressed and grieve for you for some time but time he is everything and theywill move on. Nobodyis indispensable in the law of nature. We all know about it but do not want toaccept it. Author: RotarianDr. J.S.Bhuvaneswaran, Honorable member. Rotary Club of Coimbatore East. My note- I havegiven my comments in most of the points because a Rotarian is 99% very wealthy. Persons have theirown outlook, irrespective of age. But old age problems remains. In old age we requirephysical and financial support. I recollect reading the difficulties of aJudge after retirement. Beforeretirement everything was looked after by others. Q9 Is it worth it to spend more than 1lakh crore rupees on a bullet train rather than building airports? A9 Deepesh Deomurari, Senior Art of LivingFaculty, Pune, IndiaUpdated Sep 29 Yes - Very Very worthy. Bullet train hascapacity of 1250 passenger and 12 bullet trains can make it run - 1 bullettrain every hour. 30,000 people per day or in one month it can move an entirecity to new location! Planecapacity is 200 so it is just 15% of train capacity. Airplane is twotimes expensive than Bullet Train! In future, it will be made in India, generating at least 2 million employment! One very big advantage is weight - In plan everyone cancarry 22Kg max, in train it may be 50 Kg. Also travel time is same - You haveto go Airport 2 hours before time and departure alsotake 30 minutes. So eventually it is the same time. In 6 hours you can travel1000+ km in bullet train at 320 km/hour. Further train route can have 8–10 stations while planescan have only 1–2 stops. India is a bigcountry and bullet train is very much needed. For example, If I travel from Bangalore to Jabalpur, ittakes 36 hours! In bullet train it will be 6 hours (including stoppage). So, I can go to hometown whenever i want. Fare of Bullet train will be nearAC II tier. So most of us will be able to afford occasional/urgentunavoidable travel. We are already verylate in introducing bullet trains. It will give very heavy boost to Tier II andTier III cities; which are deprive of very heavy investments due toconnectivity limitations. Also remember,Japan has given soft loan and considering inflation, Bullet Train is almostFree for India as it is under Public Private Partnership.
