*CULTURAL QA 11-2022-02 Mr G my view *

Q1 How does the size of an object affect how quickly it loses heat?

A1 Gopala Krishnan, Former Assistant General Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now When the surface area is more
loss of heat is more. Heat sinks work on this principle. Hot coffee/tea in
saucer becomes very cooler comparing to the coffee in the cup.

KR: *Making Ecological Inferences from Body Mass and Temperature: *The
rate at which organisms process energy and materials determines how fast
they grow and reproduce, how long they live, and how rapidly they move
through space. Thus, it is not surprising that a number of key ecological
traits depend on body mass and temperature. For example, John Damuth
hypothesized that the maximal population abundance (or carrying capacity,
large *K*) that a species can achieve is determined by how much energy is
available (*Etotal*) and how much energy is used by each individual (
*Eindividual*), so that *Etotal* is proportional to *KEindividual*. Because
*Eindividual* is proportional to body mass raised to an exponent *b* (*Mb*
where *b* ≈ 3/4), then *Etotal* is proportional to *KM*3/4, and K is
proportional to *EtotalM*-3/4.

This relationship, called the energy equivalence rule, tells you two
things: 1. mice can reach higher abundances than elephants and 2. if the
populations of elephants and mice are at their carrying capacity, these
populations will use the same amount of energy (*KEindividual* is
proportional *M*-3/4* + *3/4 = *M*0). Because, at a given site, not all
species will be at carrying capacity, the abundance to body mass
relationship will have a lot of scatter, and its exponent will not be -3/4.
The relationship works well when a large number of species, including a
very broad range of body sizes from all over the globe, are plotted
together, probably because a sufficiently large number of species close to
their carrying capacity are represented.

Another important ecological trait that is influenced by body size and
temperature is *rmax*, the intrinsic rate of population increase (i.e., the
rate at which populations can grow in the absence of food or space
limitations). We have known for a very long time that populations of small
animals can grow faster than those of large ones. More precisely,
ecologists found that *rmax *is proportional to *M*-*b*. In 1974, Tom
Fenchel conjectured that the value of *rmax* would be set by the organism's
mass-specific metabolic rate (i.e., the ratio of metabolic rate to body
mass), and hence that *b* should be about -0.25. In 2004, Vance Savage and
his collaborators hypothesized that *rmax* would depend on both body mass
and temperature. Both conjectures proved to be roughly correct (Figure 5).
Both the maximal rates at which populations can grow and their potential
carrying capacity are influenced by body size and temperature. Ecologists
have documented similar effects for processes as disparate in scale as
molecules evolving, and the flow of energy and materials through
ecosystems. Temperature and size affect how organisms work because
organisms cannot break the limits imposed on them by physics and chemistry.
The physical and chemical principles that rule the transfer of energy and
materials within and among organisms generate order in the riotous, and
sometimes seemingly overwhelming, complexity of ecological systems.

The above shows that , larger the space it may be faster the
cooling; but it is not a concrete principle since , there are more factors
affecting the temperature, than the space alone or quantum.

Q2 Can eating expired honey be harmful? My note- Honey coming in
bottles nowadays are not so pure. Better use within expiry period to avoid
health problems.

KR Honey pure does not have any expiry at all. Market Vella-pagu may
be. Like physical properties, the chemistry of honey also varies depending
upon the geography and purity of the sample. There is no standard scale
globally. However, generally honey has a content of 80–85% carbohydrates,
15–17% water, 0.3% proteins, 0.2% ashes and minor quantities of
amino-acids, phenols, pigments and vitamins. Beside these other components
are also found in minor concentration. The carbohydrate components of honey
contain various types of mono and disaccharides. The average concentration
of Fructose, Glucose, Sucrose and reducing sugars are 38.38%, 30.31%, 1.31%
and 76.65% respectively. Irrespective of the origin or variety of honey,
Fructose/Glucose ratio remains the same. The concept of using honey as a
medicine started at least six thousand years ago. All religious books and
literature have mentioned honey as a valuable medicine and food). However,
in modern science, despite its long history as medicine, it was not
recognized as a therapeutic agent until the recent past. It is due to an
incomplete understanding of its mechanism and range of activity). In the
21st century more research is being done on the medicinal use of honey. Now
it is rapidly becoming a part of modern medicine.

Q4 What is wadala experiment of Indian railways?

KR Watch the you tube for Wadala expt https://youtu.be/BCJfaEQhJIM

Q7 Why is foot care so important when people have diabetes?

KR Foot care is important for all the old people and specially for the
diabetics. Do not be afraid of. Blood flow will decrease in spite of age
growing; so as far as possible, cover the foot; avoid the wounds and
twists; walk slowly; and keep the feet clean; avoid splits under the feet
as well as in between the fingers. Still Karma cannot fight Grin and bear
it.

Q8 Which seats in flights are preferred the most?

KR It all depends on your purse as well as who is going to pay for it.
Simple. After Corona we travel only by business class where seating is
exclusive. Service depends on the flight companies.

Q9 What are some things that only a person who lives in South India
would understand or agree with?

A9 Rajesh Sathya, Designer (2017–present)Updated Thu

*South Indian, do not limit food*. Dharmasala and Thirupathi are there only
in South India and South Indians only understand, Thirupathi gives more
than it earns. I have never seen Limited meals concept in South Indian
states *except Tamilnadu.*

The South India is more Tropical and Heat makes Water a Must for the
people. So People give more importance to Rivers and *If Ganga was flowing
in South India, We would be producing more Food and Electricity like
China.* The
Water is considered very very Precious. We try to make water even from Sea
and Moisture.

*Music was actually from South India. Puranthara* Dasa the founder of Music
and Vijaynagar was like Vienna for all people. People came to Vijaynagar to
learn Arts and Music, like they go to Cambridge or Oxford Today for
Knowledge. The Sultans not only Destroyed Hampi, But a Vast amout of
Knowledge along with Ruins of Vijaynagar Empire. We cannot bring back those
Architecture as well as Arts !

Even Bhudhist in Srilanka like Muslims destroyed Arts and Culture in Deccan
region, The Jaffna library was Burnt down in the name Tamil Ethnic
conflict. *Those Books Burnt in Jaffna Library is like Hitler Buring the
Books in Germany during Nazi Rule!* Srilanka Behaved like a Nazi Germany
when coming to Destroying Hindu Temples and Tamil books, only we can
understand.

South Indians, That too deep South India can only understand, Srilanka
cannot be trusted. *But Sirlanka gets more help than an Indian state, and
they know the art of getting Help from both China and India!*

The men wear Dhothi and Women wear Saree Indian cultural Dress. Raja Ravi
Varma is the founder of Famous Saree Attire and South Indians only
understand the Beauty of Saree clad woman. After influence from North Women
also wear Chudidhaar and Salwar, *but South Indian Festivals like Pongal is
more connected with the Dress of people. *You can wear a Pant Shirt for for
any Festival, But for Pongal we have to wear Dhothi and Saree.

*Big fat Wedding is not common in Tamilnadu and* people do not waste Food
in Marraiges too. My Blood use to boil if I Happen to see wastage of Food
in Marriages. But Wasting Money and food is limited to only Few section of
people.

*Finally, The Western Ghats ! Only South Indains can* understand the
importance of Western Ghats. Every Square inch has got hundereds of Flora
and Fauna and Species in Western Ghats are given by God (or God’s own
country as they say) as Medicine for Mankind*. The Herbs and Plants in the
Western Ghats cannot be found anywhere on Planet.* The Himalayas in North
India is Tall and White with Snow., But The Western Ghats of South India is
Short, but it is Green with Water! . *Right from the Heritage site Ooty in
Tamilnadu, Munnar to Thekadi in Kerala, Kishkinta Mountains in Karnataka or
Eastern Ghats of Andhra, The Mountains of South India is something very
special only South Indians can understand.* Elephants and Tigers understand
Western Ghats more than Humans!

I have seen Temples of Both North , East West and South. *But only South
Indian Temples got Elephants. The Elephants in Temples are considered the
Deity* Itself. In Srirangam, the Elephant starts the Daily Rituals. Every
Temple has got an Elephant, A Temple Tank, A Food Counter and A Assembly
Hall, Which shows the Importance of Water, food and Arts and Music which
flourish along with Temples. *The Gopuram is constructed very Tall, and No
landmark is Taller than a Temple, And Food grains are preserved at the Top
of the Temple Tower, Which is like a DoomsDay Vault* to keep the Seeds in
case of a Natural Disaster or Tsunami like Flood. The Temple is not just a
Place of Worship, It is a Parliament, it is a Hospital, It is the Reserve
Bank and it is the Market Place.

The Tonnes and Tonnes of Gold in Padmanabhaswamy Temple in
Thiruvananthapuram, stands as Testimony to the Fact that Agastya, and 18
others must have used Alchemy Technology to make Gold inside India! Except
Alchemy Such a Huge amount of Gold cannot be transported from Outside world!

My note- Padmanabhaswamy temple vaults have in addition to gold high
quality pearls and diamonds.

KR The person who was or is a tourist or short resident had opined,
what is south. There are differences in the disguises but culturally,
variations were constant. WHAT IS SOUTH AND NORTH TO DIVIDE? IS THERE NOT
VARIATIONS WITHIN SOUTH, CULTURES OF Tn, AP, KN AND Kerala? Food, Temples,
Languages, geographical positions, weather, climates -so many differences;
so any country will have this. Scotland and England are different; New York
and California are different; why is there a difference between Sydney and
Perth. HENCE ONLY THE ADVOCACY OF ONE NATION ONE………TO REDUCE SUCH
DIFFERENCES WHICH ARE BEING MISUSED BY THE DIVISIVE FORCES.
