Eating green couldbe in your genes | Cornell Chronicle

Cornellresearchers describe a genetic variation that has evolved in populations
thathave historically eaten vegetarian diets, such as in India, Africa and
parts ofEast Asia.

https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2016/03/eating-green-could-be-your-genes

You can read moreof it, and the research to understand how this works.

It is not likeOmega-3 is absent in plant sources. Omega-3 is present in most
leafy vegetables and legumes. It is just that this is in the form of ALA and
inthose people without the “vegetarian genes”, this conversion of ALA to DHA
andEPA is difficult. But in India where agriculture has been around
sincemillennia, this has not been an issue for most communities, as they
haveadapted genetically to the diet. This is also why these communities didn’t
simply die out because oftheir diet.

And Brahminsor other Indians were not vegans, but lacto-vegetarians,so that
ensures availability of adequate B12 as well.

If at all your bodyseems to not convert the omega 3 acids properly, you could
still go for algal oilsupplements these days. Itis not an excuse to eat
carcasses in 21st century.

Hugli River, Hugli also spelled Hooghly, river in WestBengal state,
northeastern India. An arm of the Ganges (Ganga) River, itprovides access to
Kolkata (Calcutta) from the Bay of Bengal.

It is formed by the junction of the Bhagirathi and Jalangirivers at Nabadwip.

>From there the Hugli flows generally south for about 160miles (about 260 km)
>to the Bay of Bengal, through aheavily industrialized area with more than half
>of West Bengal’s population. The river’s lower reaches are fed by the Ajay,
>Damodar, Rupnarayan, and Haldi rivers, which rise tothe northwest on the Chota
>Nagpur plateau area. Although aboveKolkata the river is silted up, it is
>navigable to the city by oceangoing ships. Navigationis facilitated by
>constant dredging and the scour of a tidal bore that rushesinland at high
>tide. Negotiationswith Bangladesh have been held to divert waters in the
>Ganges River insuch a way as to prevent silting at Kolkata. From Kolkata the
>Hugli flows westand south to the Rupnarayan estuary, then twists south and
>southwest, enteringthe Bay of Bengal through an estuary 3 to 20 miles (5 to 32
>km) wide. It is spanned by a cantileverbridge between Haora and Kolkata and by
>the Bally Bridge between Bally andBaranagar.

The Hugli branches off the Ganges about 200 kilometersnorth of Calcutta, and
the river flows past the city before emptying into theBay of Bengal.

Kolkata the capitalof West Bengal is located on the banks of the Hoogly river.

signaling, tracks etc.) without compromising safetyaspects like Indian Railways
(IR) does now over decades?

A10         Namakkal Raghavendran, FormerMechanical Engineer at Indian Railways
(1959–1994)12h

Maintenance ofcoaches and wagons, of signaling systems, of track etc could be
handed over toprivate entities, withtight inspection by rly officials. But that
would mean you will have to tie up suchcontracts for long periods with the same
company. You can’t haveyearly or even 2-year contracts. No private person will
develop thenecessary skilled staff for short periods. How this will square with
theIndian public, it is not certain.

Q12         Why is Antarctica considered a no-flyzone?

A12         Manav Rama,Save up to 90% on flightswith Mighty Travels Premium.Fri

Antarctica is considered a no fly zone because it is themost remote and
isolated continent on Earth.

It has an extremeclimate, with temperatures that can reach as low as -89
degrees Celsius in someareas.

The terrain of Antarctica also makes flying difficult, with its vast ice sheets
and glaciers making navigation challenging for pilots.

Additionally, there are strict environmental regulationsin place to protect the
fragile ecosystem ofAntarctica from human interference or pollution caused by
aircrafts.

For these reasons, flying over Antarctica is prohibitedunless special
permission has been granted byrelevant authorities for scientific research
purposes only.
