Q1           What ancient technology helped a lotof people?

A1           RI Shohag,19h

CANATE

This is a hydraulic system made more than 3000 years ago,and it is located in
the city of Gonabad. (Contemporary Iran),this water collection and transport
system is known as kanate, it is a watermanagement system used to ensure a
stable supply of water in human populationcenters and provide irrigation in
regions located in arid, semi-arid climates.arid or hot, being considered one
of the greatest inventions of its time.

This system has the ability to collect water fromunderground sources and
deliver it to cities and irrigation canals.

In this way, Persia could exist and develop even in an aridand dry climate. The
hydraulic system includes amain well that receives water from an underground
source, a tunnel systemthrough which the water is transported to a specific
location and verticalaeration wells that allow the condensation of moisture
along the entire route. In addition to all this, theunderground water channel
reduces water evaporation.

The length of the Gonabad khanate is 33,113 meters, it includes427 water
depressions, being the largest of all suchstructures in antiquity. The
structures were built using onlyempirical knowledge, but respecting the laws of
physics, geology andhydraulics,

Since 2007, gyugonabad qanat has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage
List.

Q4           What was the strangest thing found ona human body?

A4           RI Shohag, Sat

The human bodyoften surprises us with some anomalies and deformities, however,
some rareconditions occur in adulthood.

One such unexpected situation occurs in an 87-year-oldChinese woman who has a
horn on her head approximately 13 cm long, they callher "Unicorn Woman".

Liang Xiuzhen'sdeformity is a case of cutaneous horn, as it is known tobuild up
keratin, the same protein that forms nails and hair.

At her age, it'shard to get that "keratin horn" she has, so the doctors
havedetermined it's best to leave her that way.

My note- In my native there was a variarcommunity  lady having two swellings
inher head to the size of neiappam in my middle school days. However it could
beremoved by operation, one by one.

Q5           What is the best-preserved human bodyever found belonging to a
person from thousands of years ago?

A5           RI Shohag,Jun 26

More commonlycalled ''Similaun Man'' , it is the mummy of a human being over
5,300 yearsold, and was only found in1991 on the Similaun Glacier in the Ötztal
Alps. His body, very wellpreserved by ice, has been the subject of many
studies. One thing you might notknow though is that Otzi was the first known
person to have tattoos. There are61 of them, and they had no aesthetic purpose:
it was a kind of ''therapy'' toalleviate the pain of arthritis, a kind of
primitive acupuncture. They werebasically small incisions covered with charcoal
to fix the mole.

Q6           How old is the "juggad"science in India?

A6           Rohit Virmani, I Love India Sat

Inflated Bullock Skin Boats: Before the constructionof bridges and the
availability of better boats, floats were indispensable forcrossing unfordable
mountain rivers in India. In spite of its apparent primitivism and crudeness,
thesefloats worked wonderfully.

InflatingBullock-Skin Boats for crossing the swift Himalayan River, Sutlej,
India - Twoof the men you notice, are still at work blowing their “boats” full
of air;they have cords there already to tie up the end of the skin when it
issufficiently distended.

Inflated bullock skins for ferry boats on Sutlej River inthe Punjab, India.: If
several passengers are to betaken over, it is customary for two “boats” to
start out side by side, thepassengers on the different floats taking hold of
each other to help balancethe queer craft.

Crossing the Sutlej near Shimla upon inflated animalskins.

Locals use bullock skins to cross a river in Kashmir.

Locals carry inflated animal skins for river crossing,India, circa 1860

A technique(juggad) that worked wonderfully!!

Q8           What is the strangest story of theMiddle Ages?

A8           RI Shohag, Sun

The financial crisis in the fourteenth century.

In the 13thcentury, the Republic of Venice began a clandestine operation. They
started to buy all the goldthey could. All of Europe and the Mongol Empire used
the gold coinage standard, except Venice which used the silver one.

In 1348, after a century, Venice flooded the market withgold. The price of gold
dropped to such an extent that silver becamemore valuable than gold.

With the exceptionof Venice, all countries in Europe defaulted and the mighty
Mongol Empire wasforced to adopt Venetian currency as its standard.

Veniceeffectively controlled trade from the Atlantic to the Pacific, not bad
for acity-state.

Of course, theBlack Death overshadowed this event and is little known these
days.

A Goldfish in a river or pond, it can be surprise if youcatch one. If an
unwanted pet goldfish gets released intothe wild it grows and grows until it
becomes a supersized large version of itsformer self. Fisheries and Oceans
Canada posted photos to Facebook that showsome of the humongous,
large-belliedgoldfish that were found in Ontario’s Hamilton Harbour.

Q10         Why did Albert Einstein believe in Godbut Stephen Hawking didn't
even though both weregeniuses?

A10         Andre Lieven,13h

-It was, of course,a LIE (Emphasis added) what you read about my religious
convictions, a liewhich is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in
apersonal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If
something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded
admiration for thestructure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.-

- Albert Einstein, letter to an atheist (1954), quotedin Albert Einstein: The
Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas & Banesh Hoffman
